Yeah for a UK based company Cajon Pass was definitely a weird choice. You’d think they’d be catering more towards the UK content (WCML).
Is this DTG trying to be more sympathetic towards the US player base, since there’s been a public outcry in recent months.

It's pretty obvious that most of the extra Special Edition routes are there to populate the TSW5 core routes with extra services and AI, and the rest are just stocking fillers.

Just being whimsical and I know it has its own issues, but when you start to compare the Deluxe pack (let alone the Special Edition) price for what you get compared to Zusi 3, the shine kind of comes off TSW5 a little.

I'm genuinely surprised that DTG haven't tried to sell a TSW Complete Edition with every single DLC included. They used to do that for Train Simulator until TSW2014-ish.

    Just had it confirmed then…
    No additional save game slots.
No fix to missing objective data when loading a saved game from a subsequent train in the session.
Steam traction not had any work on it.
Just waiting to cut through the twaddle and see what the 350 and Pendolino sound like on WCML South and think £54 might be going back in my Steam Wallet. Just a shame you can’t buy Run 8 stuff through Steam.

Granted it would cost around £1900, but Volition sold/offered a $1,000,000 version of Saints Row 4 which also included a Lamborghini. I'd probably buy a special edition of TSW5 if they also offered a restored 1988 Aston Martin V8 as part of the package, delivered by JD himself.

I can understand what you mean when it comes to VR, but there are other reasons, why I can't, I also get a bit of flack at times when I don't answer with my headset on, I know and understand where you're coming from. Just an idea for Headphones that let you hear what you are listening to and what is around you, My daughter has a pair and I tried them out and they work great. Shokz Bone Induction is mainly used on the PC but can be used with any mobile device.

I had to cancel my pre-order for the deluxe edition as well, after last night's stream. I might still go for the regional pack with Kinzigtalbahn if it is any good, and scoop up the flixtrain later on sale, but after seeing the barren timetable I have simply lost all interest in the WCML. It could have been great, but they decided to only put in half the amount of services that it should have...

I'm so sorry that i posted my disappointment posts a few days to early about the release of TSW5. But now i hope some people learned a lesson that TSW5 is the best example for a bad product.

I hope DTG also learned a lesson either and stopping release a game every year and start to fixing things in the current game Version.

TSW5 is nothing more than an edited version of its predecessor. They haven't reprogrammed the game from scratch (so the "new features" have simple implemented in TSW3 or TSW4), makes the same mistakes again, dont learn anything than make money about bad products and they've just tried to rework the old one with bad results. I thought they really learned from the past, but i will stick with TSW 3. I still have enough DLC there that I can buy in the sale at some later point in hugh sale.

Not interested in the free version either.
Perhaps in three years the Suspension feature is a standard feature.

Why the hell you are programming games like TSW Tycoon or TSW VR if that power of delevopers can simple bring good updates and features to Train Sim World? I dont get it till today.

Simply wasted resources for a really good Train Sim World. If you ever change your point of view and stick with one game and always bring free updates and bug fixes for it, making good money with good DLC, then maybe I'll buy another game from you. Until then, I'll watch the demise of Train Sim World from afar. What a shame for such a great game.

I've been watching the WCML stream with my friends and we've spent most of the time laughing at the glaring issues, many of which the trio were purposely ignoring. The lighting is horrible, the scenery is bare, the sounds for both the 390 and 350 are dreadful, the lack of guard mode for the 377 and 390 is because they couldn't be bothered, the timetable is a ghost town, the passengers have all gone to the rapture, the menu music is so generic it's painful, and the UI design is so garish that I believe they looked at Saints Row 3 and thought 'how can we make this uglier?'

Remember, you can always get the 113-mile Train Simulator version with six trains (including every appropriate variant of the 350), which is cheaper than the TSW version and has better scenery too.

Indeed the UI looks as if it was done by amateurs. I've mentioned the "5" already in the logo (which uses mismatching radii so it seems unstable), they could've at least used the 5 from their new UI font. It's completely incoherent design. Loving the sleek black/gold theme of ETS2/ATS that was done by professionals obviously.

TSC's WCML South launch issues (performance) were fixed, it's a fine route.

The tsc version might be cheaper but you get no timetable which offers more replay value than a couple scenarios and you're done

WCML. A year later, another major release later, and enough is still enough… you couldn’t make this stuff up.
Although it was perhaps not entirely unpredictable… :o

Yes, TSC scenario creators have no sense of restraint and think that absolutely every service that's there in real life needs to be included, no matter how little it adds.

That's true, but you always have the option to swap stock to use stuff you already have, or press F2 and run the scenarios without anything that's missing. Luckily, WCMLS includes versions of pretty much every train you'd want to drive on the route anyway.
The quick drive for WCMLS is pretty impressive with many AI trains. When going to the north from London you can even overtake other trains.

You'd also have to "invest" into TSW if you want to have layers appearing.

TSC WCMLS Euston - Birmingham comes with 5 different classes included. 221, 350, 377, 378 and 390 already plus great QuickDrives offering an ever randomised timetable sort of experience.

Thing is you have to go out of your way to find the dependency heavy items, you're not going to encounter said items just buying items off the Steam store. And thing is if you're the type of person who knows where to get those dependency heavy items you also can find scenarios which aren't as heavy with the requirements. I've found plenty of workshop scenarios which just use default stock, or only have two or three extra DLCs added in. I'm not saying it isn't a problem mind you, it is and it's kind of ridiculous what some scenarios demand for sure. But conversely it's easy enough to just ignore them and browse for other scenarios,

This is very true for German content... we just had this discussion on Railsim. But for UK content it´s "easy". Readmes usually list everything AP ever released. In the UK it´s a money thing, but not of searching.

Excessive requirements are a bad thing.
The difference is the layer system!

Or press F2 in the scenario, which will allow the scenario to be played normally.

I think I've finally worked out what DTG are up to. They've created 'Doom Simulator World', where a bunch of people invest hours and hours of their time in a thread on a forum ranting about everything that's wrong with a game, yes a game, where people drive imaginary trains around a bit in a semi-realistic environment, sometimes comparing it to other games where people drive imaginary trains around a bit in a semi-realistic environment, which forces them to spend even more time and money on it just so that they can prove to each other that they are right to say that it's a worthless piece of junk. It's a genius idea, perfectly executed. Well done, DTG.

  44. It's an accurate portrayal of real life where a workforce has all its goodwill squeezed out by a management that knows the cost of everything and the value of nothing, where arguments break out over the minutae of obscure standards and operating procedures and where everyone has a view on how best to fix the system.
I think you've nailed it, as have they.

Honestly, Quest-developed stuff has been something of a boon to me, as anything designed for it seems to work perfectly smoothly on my laptop via my Vive Pro, even though the Displayport output on it only runs off the IGPU, not the discrete one.

It's a quirk of the way HUD menus work in TS. Pressing F2 to start the save dialogue makes anything including so-called fatal errors go away. Really there should just be a 'run anyway' option but I doubt we'll ever get that.

Something else that can be useful sometimes is pressing Ctrl+Q and cancelling. This is the quit command, but in both the editor and drive mode I find it can kick the game back into gear if something stops working, such as the undo and redo keybinds. I have no idea why it works, but usually it does.

From what I've heard much of the staff that develops the game are contractors and not actual employees. This is probably why the game has similar issues to the well-documented case of Forza Motorsport 23, which used contract staff who didn't have enough time to learn the game. I expect that the reason (or part of it) that many long standing issues like the lighting remain is because not that many people in DTG know how to fix it.
