Why is there so little station clutter, signage etc. in the stations so far compared to Goblin for instance?

Looking on Flickr the /1s, /3s and /4s all seem to utilise the same livery.

 

With all due respect, the question is directed at DTG, not other forum members who feel they wish to reply on their behalf.

The asking price for the Deluxe edition, to get the two extra trains, is around the same as Zusi 3 which comes with 1000's of km of route and scores of different locos and multiple units.

a question for the stream, could you go deeper into the license issue? could you provide insight into if the debrandd LNWR stuff is pernament or if you are trying to get the license back and are hoping to revert the change either before launch or in a post launch update?

 

I would take the question one step further & ask what precautions DTG have in place for this sort of thing.

Surely an agreement is made when the licensing is discussed, this route has a pretty big dependency on the LNWR brand, so I’m guessing it was no small feat to have go back through all the stations, PIS, 350 livery & interior, menu logos & descriptions etc and take it out. Never mind the financial implications of advertising a branded product & then removing said branding.

I get there’s an element of wanting to play nice, but on the other hand I struggle to see how you can agree a licence to produce content, spend months making it, marketing it & borderline release it, for the licensor to very simply & easily say they’ve changed their mind.

The way the explanation was phrased is odd too “the understanding that we had permission”, I may be reading into it abit much, but that doesn’t sound like DTG did have permission, just that they thought so.

This just smells funky to me, I suspect this isn’t entirely an LNWR/WMT problem.

 

another thing to add to the issue with licensing. what will pis and station display signs say. for example ''this is the avanti west coast services ttoo...'' or ''this servcie is operated by southern'' will it not state that or a fictional company?

 

I’ve seen it say “operated by DTG” in the past for things like railtours. If you have IOW2022 that may show something which could lead to the answer, as that was unlicensed too.

 

mayeb. iirc it said ''island line''. the whole point of iow2022 was it was a company called island line instead of SWR. so we might have a fake company or maybe they mnight call it london midland.

 

I wonder if they could use WMT still, this might purely be an LNWR brand issue.

 

thats actually a good point. that would definately be better then ''this service is operated by DTG'' or ''this service is operated by NWCR '' or something like that. or you never know. it might stil be LNWR becuase the letters arent trademarked or something. (im not a lawyer as you might be ablr to tell)

 

I don’t understand why companies don’t like their logo/liverys in games because ultimately isn’t it a positive because there’re advertising their brand and surely there’re getting paid for it aswell?

 

yeah, i think ultimately it boils down to either incidnets on the railway and dont want more publicly accessible knowledge of how to operate trains/ the gaurd pannel. (LIRR2.0) or management froim the older generation who have stuck up ideas about video games and how theyre harming people ect. that noncese

Will the debranding and changing textures on all relevant building/sign assets and the rolling stock be done in time for early access day, or will the route be delayed as a result?

How do we transfer add ons from the base game tsw4 (ECML regional edition) to tsw5? Will there be like a tsw5 compatible tsw4 ECML regional edition?

Will the 390 Dot Matrix system work or will it just rely on the digital PIS screens throughout the train?

 

How complex is the passenger ticket system for guard mode? Will passengers only be able to carry valid tickets for the current route or can they also have tickets with origins and/or destinations for other routes that share a station? (route hopping)

And there begs the question. Why do DTG pay TOCs for using their logos rather than the other way round, given the free advertising they will be getting?
It’s like when computer magazines had demos of games on cover disks. I was gobsmacked when I discovered that the magazines paid the games companies to put their games on the disks rather than the other way round.

 

I just want to thank you for this really good livestream, It feels a lot more professional when you included Daisy The Guard, and we get a lot of our questions answered by Matt who don't need to drive (and miss the stations).

It's a pity console players don't a have a shortcut to return to cab of our train. We did in the TSW2 days but lost it when the immersion control scheme was introduced.

It would be handy in situations like tonight when Daisy fell through the station on stream. This still happens to be on a few routes and I'm stating to learn all the locations.

 

Get a cheap keyboard and plug it in. Then you'll have the same controls as PC players (I use a combo of both controller and keyboard on PS4/PS5).

 

My question wasn't answered on the stream (did Jamie ask any from this thread?), but I noticed a late-spawning train at a quiet station like Tring, so it's still an issue in that build. I've seen it worse on Lukas's Gamescom streams when at MKC (3 seconds to appear) and Frankfurt (7 seconds). This is one of those annoying issues, like the invisible trains at the launch of TSW3, that I hope doesn't slip under the radar and remain unresolved for months.

 

Enjoyed the stream but Daisy’s mouse clicks were so loud it sounded like a bunch of chimpanzees playing Frustration.
Please procure a quieter mouse for her!

 

Literally can't believe they dropped the ball on what was supposed to be a core feature for LAST YEAR's game.

For the conductor mode on the 350, is it just the date and destination that determines whether it is correct? The preview seemed to show off peak tickets being correct during a peak time service.

 

Will the Class 350 be available in an 8 car set on timetable mode

 

No not any more, but it used to until the immersion control scheme was introduced around the time TSW2 Rush Hour was released.

You could hold down the right stick while walking around and you were instantly teleported back into the cab of the train you were driving even if that train was moving. Very handy if your train rolls away when you forget to change ends properly.

 

I noticed on the stream that they seamed to skip over the changes to the 377/2. They just said oh, there's a 377/2 without exploding the internal differences that should be there.

Instead they drove the 710 and showed that it has a bug indicating that it's on overhead power mode and not 3rd rail while driving on 3rd rail.

This route needs another month of polish in my opinion. Right now it's not worth the price being a flagship launch route, there are too many bugs, errors and short comings that may or may not be fixed either short or long term.

TSW5 marketing worked on me initially but last nights stream has me very concerned.

 

The one at Wembley Central on the down is missing.
