Why is the 66 in the preview the EWS variant (hello darkness my old friend) rather than the new DB Cargo one?

    upload_2024-8-29_16-15-15.png

Echoing concerns about the state of the running boards, especially now they are debranded. Do the real life platform PIS boards also report as 'Milton Kns'? (They could well do, I have no idea, but it looks a bit odd - I'd have thought only the on-train PIS might do that for space reasons).

The branding is really annoying, but seems like LNWR is to blame here. DTG obviously had some kind of agreement considering all the branding was present earlier. It must have been very recent, so I am interested to know what caused LNWR to pull the rug out. Would it have made a difference if it was already released?

I am guessing that means no LNWR in the future which would throw plans for more WCML in the air.

Also in my understanding LNWR and West Midlands Trains are the same company, right? So I am assuming this decision could have repercussions for BCC or other future Birmingham routes.

Going by the video, scenery looks great, especially the lineside foliage, much more realistic looking compared to ECML. We'll see tonight if it holds true for the rest of the route. Fingers crossed approach control signalling is accurate.
Still using those strange speed signs though, it looks as if they'll never change the font on them. They did on the Bakerloo though, but not for any other UK route. Don't know why.
    Branding issue.....not fussed really.

Third this. I'm guessing we will never know what happened, but considering the branding was on there only last week in the streams/announcements this seems to deffo have been last minute, like in the last week. Still looking forward to the route though, the branding thing doesn't break it for me but hopefully we can get the branding back at some point. It does raise a question on what would happen if it caused a route to be totally messed up and pulled this near release, especially a core route.

There we go so I will not be buying the deluxe version, looks like the german version.

Does this possibly have to do with the scenario.

    The Class 350 Scenarios are:
    • Service Savior, where you’re required to step in to drive the 350 in the absence of a driver.

To me the branding is disappointing. I always prefer to see branded routes. Not a deal breaker though, for the items I’m most excited about, it’s not going to spoil things too much.
Nothing much I can do about it on my PlayStation but do hope a PC Mod comes out as I’m nowhere near talented enough to have a go at a livery myself.

Not a fan of this design, but could be a nice reference by just keeping that green trapezoid in the corner:)

I mean it's just green trapezoid deco, it doesn't look like LNWR logo anyway.

In fact you could spot LNWR logos in this exact trailer in the distance of some shots. That shows how recent this change is.

Ok - think I've found the answer to my own question. The 350 headboards can't fit 'Milton Keynes' in full, so it's shortened... to 'MiltonKyns' (which means the in-game one is still wrong).

    upload_2024-8-29_16-25-38.png

Have Rivet forgotten how to set up station and loco PIS separately again?

The station PIS should read 'Milton Keynes Ctl' (I believe), with the 350 PIS as above.

Good gravy, is there no such thing as attention to detail any more? What happened to the progress made with Goblin?

  12. Nah, some degenerate beta tester l*aked the WCML route before it was announced. It was so bad that DTG put out a statement about it with threats to ban anyone discussing leaks of unannounced content.

GWE also has a scenario around this (I think, not touched the route for years), and didn't ask for their branding to be removed, so doubtful

To be honest, I don't care about the signatures/inscriptions on the trains - the mods will restore this, the main thing is that the trains themselves are not taken away, kek

If you have the PC version then yes, but console versions can't be modded sadly.

Doubt it, since I'm sure DTG would've talked with the higher ups at LNWR about all the scenarios and workings in the game so I doubt that would be the reason for the revoked licence.

Hopefully in the future the licence will be given again, but honestly it doesn't bother me that much, so long as the route is enjoyable; I'm happy. We can use CC liveries like we all did for the newer IOW route, so in my opinion it's not that bad, definitely not as bad as some people seem to be making out. (from my understandings of reading their replies/comments.)

Up to this point I have had good feelings about TSW5 and what we have seen so far. But as the previews start to come out I'm getting more and more disappointed again. Starting with the branding.

I'm so happy that i never make the choice to use this game on a console... Everytime again it will be very clear a pc is way better dan a console. Its missing so much extra that you get on pc... Great example is the graphics they are on pc way better to tweak.

Licence agreements do expire, that's how GWR's stopped.
Maybe this route was delayed or the contract expired sooner than realised.

I wonder if the release date played into this at all. For example with GWR the license expired but its not like they had to delete all the GWR branding. In this case they have.

It's a shame they couldn't have pushed it out the door sooner if that would have allowed branding.

my guess is that new routes or trains cant be branded, LNWR on WCML abd FGW on GWE but exsisting rolling stock can be used after liceneing expires so the 43 and 166 in GWR colours

    Who knows for sure.
Likely the license was withdrawn because of a change in policy or management

but it might not of been a fault of DTG at all. unless dtg say why, which i dont think they will, then we probaly wont ever know. it could be that the devs didnt check properly, or it couldve been a last minuate call by LNWR management ect. or what i am hoping; is that it was a miscomunication and they have temporarily removed it to avoid legal trouble and they are actively working towards gaining a new licence and add a branded version/ update a week after launch ect

thats actually quite a good point, though i would think they would be told of this feature before any contracts are made, maybe theres been an incident recently and dont want more people to know how to control the doors.

The full contract, yes, but September 2024 is the end of what I believe is called the core term of the contract and essentially the contract can be terminated from this date without any sort of wrongdoing from the TOC, etc. Hope that makes some sort of sense.

Going to use this post as somewhat of a feedback post based on what I've seen on the livestream with timestamps

    • 19:14 The articles on the top of the game ui when in the menu next to the logo seem to maybe be older ones? Power up the pennines and the Crompton has arrived. Could just be an earlier build, but wanted to flag in case up to date articles aren't implemented.
    • 19:15 66 apparently comes in DB Cargo livery according to Matt talking - but why is EWS shown?
    • 19:16 adverts on boards seem to be quite blurry?
    • 19:18 Will the advertising screens and train running time screens in the main concourse be activated?
    • 19:19 It would be good if the seats in the concourse including the info stand and the wooden curvy bench could be sat on by passengers and players (info point for players only of course, or a staff member?)
    • 19:20 some coaches on that 390 look very dark and shaded but others are bright white - maybe a lighting thing to look at?
    • 19:27 the 390s stationary at EUS don't seem to have headlights or taillights illuminated? Visible when in exterior camera mode while the 350 is departing
    • 19:33 Some late shadow pop in for OHLE equipment? Could that be done sooner, like track shadows?
    • 19:46 Other things going on about Bakerloo line
    • 20:18 no passengers??

    • Had to stop watching live at this point

I noticed during the live stream that tunnel lighting seems to have gone backwards. It looks like nothing inside the cab gets dark anymore, or it flickers between half-dark and light. Tunnel lighting has never been perfect, but it was definitely much better than this. Also, in my opinion, the trains at London Euston appear to be overly bright on certain coaches.

So no suspension on the 350, 377, and 72 stock on day one....you've only had a year to sort it.

"A last minute problem which made it look as though trains were about to derail", I believe they used that excuse previously.

So last year the Suspension was the main technical selling point for TSW4, and it took a year for it to finally get to the basic stock.

This year it's Route Hop....and now we won't be able to hop FROM Bakerloo, only TO Bakerloo due to issues with Bakerloo.

Every year, every single year there are always issues that crop up "last minute".

Here's an idea. If your main selling point isn't going to be available from day one....stop promoting it as your main selling point.
