The Amtrak SC-44 is a new diesel-electric locomotive made by Siemens. They are made to replace the aging P42DC. They are being used on many lines, like the Pacific Surfliner. The SC-44 is very similar to the ACS-64 also made by Siemens. The traction motors sound very similar with a few differences here and there. The interior button placement is different, but the dimensions are the same. The engine sounds similar to the engine sounds used in the NJT ALP45DP in the game. This would be a great addition to the Amtrak rolling stock. The ALC-42 is also being made for long distance, and is basically an SC-44 with a different front end and power. Please message me for other specific information like physics and sounds if you plan on making it. Thank you!
Ditto. The Stevens Pass, Marias Pass, and Pacific Surfliner routes would be the perfect routes to run these modern passenger locos.
dont see why dovetail would not add this as the line from LA is already in the simulator and they have Amtrak on the books so would be nice we have to wait n see
Cause DTG barely makes their own US content anymore, most of their recent locos have been Reppo Contract projects (The AC44 for Tehachapi, the SD9043MAC for Grainger, the GP60 for N-Line.) Not to mention Pacific Surfliner is extremely old, and I don't expect loco DLC for a route thats almost a decade old now.
100% should already be in game. It seems only natural that DTG would want to expand their West Coast and East Coast commuter routes. The SC-44 is useful on a NUMBER of routes. 350 made to use on Coaster and Surfliner runs along the West Coast in California. Used by the NYC transit authority. The majority went to AMTRAK for running across the country. Not a huge jump from what's already in game (Eurosprinter) It opens up at least dozens of new routes (many of which connect to existing routes like the Pacific Surfliner and Coaster which connect to the Antelope/San Bernadino routes) and the connections to the NEC and Boston routes. In fact it seems so obvious a choice there's probably already work being done on it to do those other routes. Edit: Never mind, saw this was an old thread and that it WAS made. Yay!
It'd be nice to have the SC44 Chargers, but they're problematic as waste. They have a lot of issues to the point Amtrak is actually bringing out their older stuff.
