A few months ago I bought the TSW4 Deluxe Edition on sale for just a few bucks. To this day, I haven't installed or tried the game because I'm still very happy with TSW3. Due to the many INI adjustments, I am more than satisfied. However, I'm also interested in a few routes that I unfortunately can't get for TSW3. Therefore my questions: Is the upgrade to TSW4 really worth it? Do all INI customizations for TSW3 also work in TSW4? In TSW3 I haven't had any red signals due to AI trains blocking the track. Is this still a problem in TSW4? Can I adjust the HUD in the same way as in TSW3? I don't want to use the mini route monitor that I have seen on some screenshots. I want it to look like in TSW3. Would you recommend the move to TSW4? Not quite sure if I should do that. And before anyone asks, I have no interest in TSW5 anymore. In the current state of the preview, I don't want that kind of quality on my PC.
Yes and they should work in 5, first thing I will be doing is copying them. This problem is mostly on a route by route basis. The original HUD is still there, I would not play TSW4 if it was not. As it stands, probably if there are TSW4 routes you want to play. I still recommend getting the free TSW5 unlock for your account since you own 4, even if like with TSW4 you have no intent of installing it until well down the line once there are routes you wish to play.
Wait till Sept. 17th, get TSW5 free starter pack, download TSW5. You don't need the base DLCs bundled with standard editions, of which you're complaining about.
Mate you looked at a weeks old build on a preview stream you have no idea what quality tsw5 will bring.
Ok, thank you to everyone. The most important thing is that the INI Settings will work. I will give it a try... and i think on 16th september there a couple of Sales on Steam to upgrade my DLC Collection. Thx for your replies.
Not all the ini settings are applicable from 3 to 4 and the same will happen with 5. Because of fixes and performance changes some will even be detrimental. Try out without first and reintroduce them one at a time to make sure you don't generate any issues. Paul
I haven't got TSW4. I'm still on 3. I will get the free upgrade to TSW 5 which should unlock all routes for me to purchase. I wasn't really interested in any of the release routes for TSW 4 so I never got it but I was upset at missing out on Blackpool and the WSR remaster. The free upgrade they are giving out is really helpful and very much appreciated.
If DTG is showing us old builds, builds missing important fixes, bad builds or builds missing content and not the best build they have, that is absolutely 100% DTG's responsibility. You can't expect customers to think they will receive anything better than what they see in the preview. In fact, if something doesn't look good in the final build and we complain about it, first thing DTG is going to say is that it was like that in the preview.
People will tell you the worst thing is having to re download everything again but is not, the worst thing is having to recompile all the shaders from all the DLCs again.
With the launch of tsw5 just around the corner I would say no. And download the free version of tsw5 when it launches.
All I can really say is it was unfortunate. I'm not privy to why and I'll never pretend I am. What I can say is the route is good and I personally think it's fun with a good mix of services and having ridden it in real life in the last few months I think it's well built. I think it will be mostly received well. If people are nervous by all means wait until you see content coming up from people then you can see what's really been delivered and make your choice. Paul
I mean, whatever way you think about WCML, at worst we've seen quality issues on one out of the three routes so far, and with the free upgrade you won't even get any of the routes anyway. Seems a bit silly not to take the free upgrade because of that.
I mean, yes... but at this point you may as well skip 4 and go straight to 5 which releases in just a few weeks. 5 will be a free upgrade if you get it on release, and as soon as 5 is out DTG is ending support for all the older TSWs.
