I myself purchased the early access luckily there was an Xbox discount. Deluxe here which is for most a better deal. The price isn’t that bad in my opinion. Just a week to go. The only CON. Is installing all the trains back in.

Pre ordered, refunded, pre ordered again. Now sitting on the fence as regards pondering whether I really want to continue to pay out £54 or just bin it and wait for a sale, grabbing the free update instead.

It’s only really the German route and Flixtrain at this stage which is keeping my order alive and because the price of buying them separately isn’t much less than Deluxe with the other content.

Im waiting on the disc version, which won't have a deluxe package available, then I shall buy 390 seperately - no interest in Flix, I have enough of that with Fernbus Sim

Actually I had my whole collection of tsw series on another account. But that account got block by Xbox due to compromise. So I had brought back all my route which was a pain in the crack hole. But I’d manage to buy them all back. On a different account boy that suck. I had to talk to Xbox on accessing my last account they paid half and yet I paid half. That went ok. Still managed it.

I don't belive in pre-ordering. That and the day 1 buyers are the reason nothing ever gets properly fixed after release. Why would they bother?

Take the very welcome and appreciated free upgrade.
Then watch the independent route reviews and see what comes through in the sales.

Unless of course you are happy with all the routes and want them all. Then the bundles represent good value but still should not be pre-ordered.

Not yet. Waiting to see the Frankfurt - Fulda preview first. I might even wait until JT release their next DLC.

I’ve preordered deluxe, but still on the fence at the moment after the slightly disappointing WCML stream.

Don’t see the point in preordering before the last minute. They won’t run out.

I’ll most likely get the deluxe version if the German Route is ok. I also think I will enjoy WCML, but it’s not my favourite type of route. Certainly not bothered by the US route, didn’t like Antelope Valley, so unlikely to like San Bernardino.

So all hangs on the German Route for me otherwise it’s wait for a sale time.

I decided against the Deluxe Edition this Year. I have little to no interest in the Pendolino and if I were to buy the Flixtrain separately, it would still be cheaper than with the Deluxe Edition

I’ve pre ordered the deluxe as the pre download makes life easier as can play it straight away rather than waiting for everything to download.

I've pre ordered and will have early access.
Still not watched the wcml stream so I'm still looking forward to it!
I'm not planning or getting a refund before or after a play.
All you guys sitting on the fence, you got an hour of play time, if you don't like it the choice is yours.

I'm waiting until I've seen all three previews, if I'm still on the fence then the pre-order discount lasts until the 17th anyway so I can always join the beta testers, sorry early adopters, after reading the feedback threads on here.

How is it different than buying day of?
Logically you couldn't know if it's good or not until you bought it to play and find out.
Yes some people can wait for reviews and such, but that's still not a complete play thru and EVERYONE can't wait for EVERYONE else to buy it first....

I did pre-order the Deluxe version of TSW 5, but after seeing WCML, cancelled it. If the other two routes are up to standard and if DTG do anything about the lighting and poor timetable on WCML, I might reconsider preordering the Deluxe version again. Failing that, it’ll be the free version only with purchases of new content being subject to steep discounts.

I said both preorders and day 1 buying are the issue.

Obviously if no one bought it no one would know but that's not going to happen.

Pretty much my feeling too. I'm finding it hard to justify buying any of the packs. I bought the deluxe version of TSW4 and was very disappointed. This pack doesn't look any better, in fact the US component looks very unimpressive. And I don't feel good about paying for CJP a second time.

Unless the last two previews blow me away, it looks like just the free update for me, then on to JT's and B&J's routes which I hope will not be too long in coming.

I just don't see the point.
People buying it and playing it are how you find out if there are issues or not.
Play testing is nice, but it rarely finds 100% of issues and bugs. A couple people playing a game can't reasonably do the same amount of playing as thousands of people. Feel free to not buy it if you want, but it'd be a weird policy for more than a handful of people to have....

My access is coming via the free core upgrade this year. I want to see reviews first as I'm losing trust in all honesty.

Please read my posts. I clearly agree with the fact if no one bought it no one would ever know what it was like.
Its never going to happen where no one buys it. You may as well let them risk their money first.

And did you read MY post saying that your strategy can only be that of a tiny minority?
So... sure... as I said you do you.
Don't buy if you don't want.
Let others "risk their money" for you.

I'm sorry but that is a load of BS. I find bugs glitches and errors within minutes if not seconds of playing most new routes. Sure many here point out bugs and errors on streams while DTG feed us the line of early builds and may be fixed later.
Alot of times bugs and errors are ignored and brushed over like they didn't happen. This needs to stop.

DTG view theses as aceptible as release condition while I wouldn't. It's not to do with play testing, it the condition DTG shove things out the door, either forced or not to hit revenue deadlines.

This time alot of the fan base here seem to have had enough. Me personally, having been burnt too many times will be picking this one up on the heavily disconted sale at the end of the year unless or until the quality of these release improve.

    For example.
I pointed out errors and bugs with the Vectron on TSW4 ore release that are still not fixed to this day, and I discovered them within 20mins of play time.

Everyone's milage may vary as to what standard of release the player base will accept as acceptable to pay full price for.

Currently have the deluxe pre-ordered, but now I’m debating whether to cancel it and use the extra money for upcoming steam sale. I also have game pass so I could test the waters on there first before I decide to buy it on my preferred platform.
There is a lot of TSC routes I want to buy and my current budget probably won’t cover it. That extra £54 quid I have laid out for the deluxe would increase my funds.

I'm that kinda guy who just pre-order the minute it lets me do. But I just don't feel like doing so now. I may buy the deluxe only based on the Frankfurt and FLIXTRAIN stream. Lately not doing pre order stuff after Maintalbahn unless i really need it. I have all DLC and all were preorders until TSW3 after that all are sale purchases only(Except GER and AUS routes)

That's why I said it's perfectly fine for him to do what he wants and not buy it.
Just that not EVERYONE can do that.
Never said DTG always fixes every error either.

Again, if you don't want to buy it don't buy it to "punish" DTG if you disagree with it's policies.
    That's your right.

I’m happy to get the free update and wait for the Just Trains route as I prefer BR era over modern stuff.
In my opinion there has not been enough work done on the core issues over the years, we still have to rely on the community to improve the lighting etc.

I got it just by virtue of wanting the deluxe anyway.

"Early access" is kind of a gimmick that I am not a huge fan of in the gaming industry but it is not like DTG is the first nor will they be the last to charge extra for that.

I'll most likely be waiting for the game to drop and then decide, based on user feedback, whether I can live with its bugs, as the past has shown most bugs will never be resolved and many only after months of waiting.

Maybe the Frankfurt-Fulda stream will change my mind.

This year I am not going to pay for early access. I am no longer a PSplus subscriber, so I can't enjoy the 10% preorder.
Last year I did get it with TSW 4 but now I will take advantage of the free update and try TSW 5 with all the routes I already have, which are a lot and I don't have too much free time either.
In the Christmas offers on ps5 the Deluxe version of tsw 4 already had a big discount of 45%, so I will wait for an offer to buy it.

    For $40/60/100+, no thanks lol.
Have always been first on new releases, but I’m kind of getting tired of the way things are around here. Anyways, I know nobody cares. Lol
    - Folks will still spend all their money despite getting shafted.

Pre ordered the biggest version possible, couldn't care less about the politics of the moral decisions (the normal I don't want to give DTG my money because of a, b or c that people have here), it's a case of I want it, I'm buying it.......

If you mean the special edition, it's a pretty good deal if you need most of the routes in the pack. Not for me though, I have most of them already.

Not here I did early access.the last 2 times but thia time I will pass.

My only gripe is that the routes feel dead in early access. Unless I bought the special edition or am on Steam there won't be any layers. But I'm on Xbox and I already own all the special edition routes so i'm not buying them again.

But what about the preorder discount of 10% ? It's on gamepass day one and the gamepass discount is 10% so I won't lose out on that either.

Also if there is a day 1 patch it won't release until the 17th.

Sonif there is any bug fixes or improvements to WCML, chances are you won't get them until the 17th anyways.

I ordered the Deluxe Edition in advance. Simply because sooner or later I'll continue with TSW5 and would like to have everything. Except that I already have CJP.

Even though it may sound strange, I'm most looking forward to the "fast travel" feature! Not so much because of the side quests, but because I like being able to reach all the beautiful train stations etc. quickly and it makes it easier for me to travel as a passenger.

I'm also excited about the Conductor Mode. It's called TrainSim-World and not TrainSimDriver. So I think it's good that other aspects are also being highlighted.

I've not, I'll get the free upgrade and then the first DLC I'll purchase will be WCML north, until Suspension is sorted for the 350 and 72 stock and Bakerloo hop off is sorted, I won't be buying it.

Preordering is a state of mind. First they whip up your excitement with all the streams and their ambassadors on YT. Then when you feel you can’t live without it you preorder. I don’t watch the preview streams as I’ve no intention of buying for quite some while, can’t afford to, priorities and all that. Then after a few months I read the real reviews and form my opinion on that. Sometimes I wait a whole year and get everything for 8 quid!

I will preorder on the 11th when I’m home.
The thing is: I’m interested in San Bernardino, Frankfurt-Fulda and the Flixtrain. Buying deluxe wouldn’t make a lot of sense therefore but depending on how the both routes will be I’ll decide whether I pay the extra 15€ for the british stuff I don’t want and the early access- which I would really like :D

I have pre-ordered as I Iike the look of the content and the deluxe version looks good value, nothing to do with FOMO or anything. Whilst I'm perturbed about the WCML timetable I will see what the other content is like and what if anything DTG say about the timetable before deciding whether to cancel or not. I've been very happy with TSW over the last year so happy to support it, whilst I feel it's worth it.

I don't think it's a hot take to say that early access for deluxe editions in gaming is just a punishment for people who haven't paid up enough money. It's isn't 'early access' for deluxe edition owners, it's delayed access for everybody else.

I bought the deluxe version of TSW4 last year for PS5 as I had faith faults would be fixed quickly.

I was mistaken and felt I'd wasted my money, even now I rarely go on ECML as it's boring for me.

So I won't be pre-ordering, I'd made the decision months ago I wouldn't buy TSW5 until a future DLC I want requires me to have it, which at the moment will be WCML North.

That we still don't know what the Alan Thompson route is is frustrating for me as it seems both sides(Alan Thompson/DTG) are blaming the other for why no information about it is being released.

I've said before that the Suspension system being delayed is pathetic, they've had a year and it's still not resolved and won't be available on day one, again.

Euston being empty in terms of passengers, yeah it bugs me and for me a busy station on scale being devoid of passengers is immersion breaking. That the 390 won't be layered onto Glossop or BCC is also annoying, that the Bakerloo line won't be available for the route hop is annoying.

The Pendolino sounds not being accurate breaks immersion for me (along with the GSM screen being dead) and the PIS not displaying off world Destinations is pathetic.

Basically it's a half hearted cash grab and for me, I won't be buying it, I'll get the free upgrade, and then get WCML North when it's out.

Those are just my own thoughts, I'm not gonna jump on anyone for looking forward to this game and I hope they get hours of enjoyment out of it.
