Vorarlberg International Rescue Scenario Workaround

So I tried several times today to complete this scenario, and as I found out it is currently bugged (see tech support forum) confirmed by multiple people recently. Tried from Journey mode, scenario mode from main menu, and from free roam activating the marker, all with same result where a silly train driver refuses to move his train, thereby ensuring the preceding red signal never goes green

On behalf of all long suffering Österreich fans, I devised a workaround, and it works great, with some caveats:
- For PS5, will only work if you own the physical disc version of TSW4
- I assume above also applies for PS4 and Xbox flavour of the day
- I haven't tested on Steam as I don't own it
- No idea about Epic

Now I havent yet completed the scenario (I've just reached the marker at Lustenau) but I am much further on than I was stuck behind the stubbon driver prior to this. So, for PS5 only, (remember, only works with physical disc version):

- Disconnect PS5 from internet
- Insert your TSW4 disc, press Options on the game tile, select Manage content
- Locate S-Bahn Vorarlberg in the DLC list, and delete it by pressing the bin icon
- Exit out of content manager, and go back in
- Keeping PS5 offline, locate S-Bahn Voralberg again and install it by pressing the down arrow
- Make a cuppa while it installs
- Keeping PS5 offline, run TSW4 and go and bake some bread while it loads
- Run the scenario while keeping PS5 offline
- ???
- Profit!

The immoveable train becomes mobile again and you can sail through on a green light to the destination

I imagine for Steam a possible similar method would be downloading the earlier Vorarlberg DLC version somehow, I've never done it but I bet all-knowing Google does

Anyway, I'm off to resume and hopefully complete International Rescue. Thunderbirds are go!

 

I've used the Steam console commands to revert to previous paks many times.

Thing is you never know if it will be compatible to changes in the core, but hey if it works, fine. Finish the scenario and update again.

 

If you were able to complete it, Bravo to you. That is some crazy workaround, to get a scenario completed, I don't have any TSW4 on XB, on Steam, NO way to get around it, I spent a good many hours trying, trying to figure out a workaround "No joke here, call me crazy if you like" more like close to half a day, I ended up sandwiched between two AI trains at one point, simply because of the way the tracks are switched and the way the points are lined up. And because the AI signaler is not set up to give you the player a clear path because it can't be done on a single track maybe a double track to do a runaround.

With a mod on PC only I was able to pass the red signal coupled to the train and get to the general area but again with the way the tracks diverge and switch and how the points get set I was way off track, I was able to get the disabled train, but because I could not hit the waypoint markers as should have, this scenario could not progress as it should. I think I still have it recorded, but it turned into a Big Cluster _______ the Red Light Buged and all broken routes need to get fixed, I'm just about out of Hey I figured out a workaround...

You could "on PC that is" revert the game prior to the patch maybe it still can be done, but then all updates and patches that are working go away.

 

typical from dtg, now with tsw 5 almost here fixes for this bug only will be solved possibly in tsw 5 leaving tsw 4 unplayable in this scenario.

 

Yuppers, just it was done with prior iterations and some were never fixed.
