Would at some point in the future, the class 390 receive the run and traction motor sound that they couldn't record from Avanti?
Attaching microphones to a train running on a main line involves a LOT more logistically than you may think.
I'm sure AP actually have authentic 390 recordings, so it's not impossible to source. I know they used AP for the Class 377 sounds? However I don't know what the working relationship is between DTG and AP these days.
The only reason a can think of as to why DTG didn’t go to AP for sounds is because for whatever reason AP wouldn’t give access. They should’ve gone for a mix of their own and AP sounds like what they did with the 801 instead of synthesising the running sounds. To me it doesn’t sounds right at all, it reminds me of the RT DB 442
I think this is not be legal sourced or with permission on a trip that was allowed by avanti. The problem is that DTG has a licence and that will come with some rules and fair use policy and than its not cool to make records without permission!
Yeah, I've liked the stuff he's done in the past and hopefully he'd of got around to do sounds for the Pendo by the time the route is on a good knockdown sale price or properly fixed, as I won't be picking up the route until then.
LOL, I've noticed you've released sounds for the Pendo already Just awaiting to see what fixes and mods are done to the route itself before delving in but it's good to know sounds are sorted.
Honestly considering the circumstances I think the 390 sounds great. The whir you hear when it's leaving a station sounds spot on, and all the in cab sounds are great too. The traction motors sound close to the real thing to. I'd be able to identify a 390 by these in game sounds blindfolded, which is enough for me. Certainly a step up from the 801.
