  1. My own two pennies worth- the visual look of the trains has to be pretty close to that which it represents, and lookalike branding can really break that immersion if done badly. Missing branding can just about be believed in very new rolling stock as you could argue it is missing because of a change in franchise or because of stock acquisition, but on the whole I'd say its pretty important to get it right.

    That's not how licenses work.

but its not, generally unless you have terms in the agreement for multiple items (content, games, products etc), just about every time you apply a trademark to a new piece of content it has to get approved by said holder of that trademark. So in theory they could have an agreement with a certain brand to use their mark in multiple train simulator classic content Train sim world is a different game so an agreement for that would have to be reached prior to using their brand.

    No, it shouldn't.

It is entirely up to the licensor what the terms will be. The licensee has to either agree to those terms, or not have the license. They can negotiate the terms, but that can only go so far.

Its a simulation game, not a fictional game, based on a fake reality.

The point I was trying to get across is the fact of not the game but the licences with the music in the games, which had a bit of contraversy over the fact Rockstar had to remove songs from the remasters because they hadn't got the licences for them anymore. People where not wanting to get the games because the songs they liked had been taken away. Which you could say is like LNWR not giving the licence permission to be used in TSW.

As I have already said though it doesn't bother me in the slightest about if a train has logos or not. and if the route isn't exactly 100% accurate, that doesn't really bother me either. But if somebody wants to Crewe/Manchester to Carlise route in 100% accuracy, then maybe cab view driver maybe better as that uses actually video footage. Although it doesn't have Pendolinos or anything like that, due to it being set many years ago. Of course you need to take the bit about Cab View Driver as a bit of tongue in cheek, I don't think you can actually get the game anymore.
