I hope you enjoyed reading this suggestion, put your thoughts on this route below, I'll see you next time for my first international suggestion, hope to see you in the comments there too, see you all below!!!
That seems to be the preferred length for DLC, going into 2023... Then there is always the possibility of setting it pre original closure as a through route between Carlisle and Edinburgh, but more chance of seeing Santa on his sleigh at Christmas on that hope...!
Don’t think there is anything directly off this line, but could twin it up with Edinburgh to North Berwick, which is under 30 miles. Call it Edinburgh to Coast & Country (trademarked )
Not a bad idea actually, Edinburgh-Tweedbank/North Berwick would probably hit with Scottish TSW players more than Cathcart did
Yea! Perfect Combo! If they make this I hope the get the sounds right for all the trains. Especially the Class 380
Excellent idea but if you set the route during the steam era waverly route WCML Liverpool Crewe can give 8F and LMS Jubilee to the route.
Just means they'd have to go out and record it. Look out for Dovetail games at Edinburgh Waverly, lol!
As scenic as the route is, the modern version of the route is essentially a long branch line with A to B services all the time. I would much rather get something with a bit more going on such as Edinburgh to Dundee or Edinburgh to Glasgow QS.
That's understandable, you don't have anything interesting other than Edinburgh-Tweedbank services all day
It is, 20 platforms... well actually 17 if you look at it as 1 is joined with 20, 2 is joined with 19 and 7 is joined with 11 all with diamond crossovers splitting them up on all three instances
You know there are things called Departure Boards at Waverley, and after that, the signs will help you to your platform
Voyagers I presume XC give Edinburgh 1 HST diagram south in the morning to Plymouth and 1 HST diagram north from Plymouth which arrives in the evening
Services to Tweedbank often depart from Platforms 20/1, 19/2, 7/11, 3, 4, 8, 9 and 10 for extra information
Joing the party late, but I agree this would be an excellent choice of route for TSW 3 a lot of scenery until Gorebridge but afterwards it should be an easy route to model all the way to Tweedbank. Along with passing loops this won't have the feel of a BCC as your only in Edinburgh for less than 15mins. I live next to the line in Galashiels and although it's a half hourly service the trains are commonly a six consist with the 158 being doubled up with a 170. It's a long shot but we haven't had a diesel route in a while and everyone who plays TSW will know it's missing two iconic trains. Watch this space... I hope!
No problem, the Borders Railway would be a great choice of route, it's more Rivet's calibre judging that performance we just saw, do more Scottish routes Rivet
A potential DLC could be 60009 "Union of South Africa" as she did pull the opening train for the Borders Railway.
Good shout actually, forgot about Union of South Africa, you'd need a 67 as well for TnT runs with 60009
The Waverley Route was LNER - so you would need A3, B1, K3 and J39. There was no heavy industry on the line, but lots of farms, so there would be no need for large freight locos. There do not seem to have been any A4s or V2s allocated to Carlisle Canal, but there were some based in Edinburgh Haymarket, so would not be out of place on a steam era Waverly Route route.
Reopening the lid on this one... So in the recent roadmap it looks like Rivet will be making another UK route releasing in the next 3-6 months. Any chance of the borders line... fingers crossed
There's always potential but concidering dtg have said they won't be releasing route codes for the roadmap anymore there is no way to tell.
I'm back...we have a 158/170/380 in the game now plus a fully modelled Edinburgh Waverley. This route is only an hour long, a good length for TSW routes, it ticks a lot of boxes will DTG provide?? Would love to see it...
Would be a great route now as DTG can recycle all of the above so no need to make any new rolling stock for this line .
