Sad times, albeit correct that ScotRail have announced they’re beginning the procurement process to replace the Inter7City HSTs (125s). Time is near that these legends will disappear from our rails.
Hope you can make a few trips before they go altogether. I don't half miss seeing and hearing them in England. You get so used to 43's you forget everything thing has its time . First trip 1980 Leeds to Kings Cross 7.30am start.Three minutes early despite a delay at Peterborough.Never forgot the day. All still shiny new inside and out.
Shame we can't get them in TSW before they leave. I understand we already have 2 HSTs, but it's not enough, and now that HSTs won't be in a modern-day route...
I understand that. I'd love to see a branded Scot rail 43 as a dlc for the Scottish routes we currently have . We are getting GWE remaster soonish and we have MML with the vp185. It would be lovely to have an original Valenta consist with the two original BR&Intercity liveries. But I'd settle for a ScotRail. The other elephant in the room is the eighties sci fi class 91. Another unique looking and sounding locomotive. 43 and 91 all time favourites for me, I've been on Nozomi in Japan, been on Argo in java. Nothing beats the ride quality of a 43 for me.
It is a shame but they have served well. It did dawn on me that it has been nearly 5 years since we let ours go which is crazy to think really, I still remember that last run I had like it were yesterday. They were showing their age by then though, so I'd imagine ScotRail's really are starting to wear themselves out by now.
Had the opportunity to take a ride on one last week. It was alot of fun. Edinburgh to Aberdeen and Aberdeen to Glasgow Queen Street.
Yes whilst it is sadly true on bright side we can relive the adrenaline rush and marvel at them in tsw and who knows if your lucky you may even seen the flying banana hst doing its work anywhere on network rail area
Aren't they on the GWE and usable on several routes in game? They're 'in game." Or are you simply saying there should be a layer for Scotrail routes?
Indeed, they are, and while I don't have (but do want) the Midland Mainline, the Great Western Express route is great fun with the HST! Yes, I am saying there should be an Inter7City in the game. I would far sooner DTG exhausted the supply of subclasses before moving on (after all, if you create every Electrostar in the UK, you'll never have to make another one! Those who like Electrostars are now spoilt for choice, and those who hate Electrostars, after a little bit of rough-riding, can now relax, knowing that there won't be any more Electrostars). Obviously, what I would want and what would actually make financial sense probably differ, and I would rather DTG stayed afloat to make more trains.
Does the HST goes on any of the existing Scotrail routes? If so, maybe Rivet will make a version or modify one with Scotrail livery. I've heard their trains are decent, even if the routes are a bit wonky at times. I haven't heard any scuttlebuttt on any new routes in the north, but you never know.
Scotrail have done well to get a few more years out of the HST in service. It would be nice if we got the Scotrail version in the game. My first trip on a HST was from York to Peterborough during their final year in service with LNER.
Never got the chance to ride one I often see Network Rail HSTs though, so at least I've seen one in person.
The Class 158's Edinburgh - Glasgow timetable has a layer for a GWR HST. Only Fife Circle has multiple stations served by I7C services, that would be fit for an add-on. (not counting Edinburgh - Haymarket on EDN.)
Pray tell, what station might those be? Further, If the Inter7City were to be integrated into a route DLC as the main loco, what route would be best for it? Also aren't they 5 coaches? What's with the 7 in Inter7City?
If im reading this announcement than i think it will take a few years before they complete removed from the tracks.... They have to order new trains that takes time.
Time to place bets, will it be another 80X type unit or something completely different. The 7 is for the 7 cities in Scotland
Believe the lease runs through to 2030. Realistically, assuming the stock is new, delivery would ideally begin in 2028, at the latest 2029. In reference to the post above 80x is unlikely, I have two different units my bets are on.
The "I7C" (GWR) HSTs appear at Glasgow with the 158 timetable. As for Fife, I thought they called at Kirkcaldy/Markinch, but it appears like they only stop at Haymarket. The 7 stands for the 7 (now 8, but I7C doesn't serve Dunfermline) cities in Scotland.
Will do . Should be going on one at the weekend (on an unrelated note). So sad to see them go, but on the flip side, they are ageing now as they are nearly 50 years old .
