When I saw that there'll be a Dutch route in Tsw5, I couldn't believe it. But I thought, why not propose a second one. Here it is. It runs between Nijmegen and Utrecht Centraal, with stations like Arnhem Centraal and Ede-Wageningen inbetween. What's so special about this route you might ask? Well, actually a couple of things: All trains running between Nijmegen and Utrecht Centraal have to go through a tunnel near Arnhem Centraal and at that same station, they have to turn around. That is quite rare in the Netherlands, especially because it happens quite often, usually every 15 minutes. On this route, ICE services between Amsterdam and Frankfurt (Main) and/or Basel are active. Aside from that, there are also Nightjet services between Amsterdam and Vienna, Innsbruck and Zürich. Utrecht Centraal is the biggest station in the Netherlands, with over 20 platforms. It's huge! I once walked inside the terminal above the tracks, and I felt like I was in an airport. Alright, let's go to the locos, services and add-ons! Above: Arnhem Centraal. Below: Utrecht Centraal. Locos (4): SNG (this one is already in the Spoorlijn Zwolle - Groningen route), this is a local train. See image below FLIRT, this one is also a local train. But unlike the SNG, this one only runs around Arnhem, whereas the SNG also runs near Utrecht. See image below VIRMm, this is an intercity train. This is a train you'll see everywhere in the Netherlands, as it's famous for its departing sound. See image below DDZ, this is also an intercity train. Unfortunatly, this train gets more unique these days. The most common place to spot this train is in the north (think of Groningen, Leeuwarden, Deventer and Zwolle). See image below Services (5): Sprinter Nijmegen - Arnhem Centraal. This sprinter originally runs between Wijchen and Zutphen. Another sprinter Nijmegen - Arnhem Centraal. Only difference: this one runs between Dordrecht and Arnhem. Intercity Nijmegen - Utrecht Centraal. In real life, this one continues from Utrecht via Amsterdam all the way to Den Helder, which is a super northern city. Intercity Arnhem Centraal - Utrecht Centraal. This one drives further to Schiphol, via the south of Amsterdam. Intercity Nijmegen - Arnhem Centraal. This is also an extremely long journey, because normally this train runs between Roosendaal (south of the NL) and Zwolle. Above: The route Nijmegen - Arnhem - Utrecht with the siding to Rhenen Add-ons (2): BR408 (ICE 3Neo). Like I said before, this train runs between Amsterdam and Frankfurt (Main) or Basel. You'll run this train between Utrecht Centraal and Arnhem Centraal. See image below NS BR193 (Vectron) and rolling stock. This loco can be used for freight services. However, this one can also be used as the daily Nightjet service between Amsterdam and either Vienna, Zürich or Innsbruck. See image below Expansions (4): Arnhem - Duisburg, to connect HRR with this route. Utrecht - Rhenen, a little siding along the route Arnhem - Utrecht Utrecht - Amsterdam, adds a lot of services. And the beautiful Amsterdam Centraal station. Arnhem - Zwolle, connecting to SZG.
I would love to see to see this in TSW, the line from Amsterdam Centraal to Arnhem is the route I've used the most when in the Netherlands, and Nijmegen would be a great place to finish. Many a time I've stood on the likes of Wolfheze station watching trains race through... And as for Arnhem Centraal, in my opinion it's a lovely bit of architecture. Off topic, but I love the trolleybuses in Arnhem.
Bring it on to the game if you want to make it better and route hopping with HRR might as well make it 156km Hollandstrecke Duisburg Oberhausen Utrecht Centraal via Arnhem & Ede Wageningen.
I see you're still abusing any thread about Dutch railways to promote your own Hollandstrecke idea. How about you stick to your own thread about that route?
