Perhaps it would be nice if from now on posts on here were actually about WCML? Keep on topic in other words.

Lighting. If this isn't fixed, it'll be awful, for me this is the first priority. Timetable also looked shambolic in places.

Same here, plus I get to save some money by not buying the US and German route that I am not personally interested in.

Do we have any new information on the timetable? It is really the only major issue for me (followed closely by tunnel lighting). So far, I'm aware that a significant number of Lioness Line and Bakerloo Line services are missing.

What about formations. Do we still only have 4 car services for LNWR?

Both were deal breakers for me, specifically the Overground timetable being cut to the bones, but also the awful night lighting which in effect cuts the timetable even more because who wants to drive in a blackout?

In terms of pendolino sounds, I feel that it would of been an expensive cost to Avanti to ask for track access for a special train for recording on a fair busy line. (I don't know the exact cost for a special train to have a path) Would DTG been able to pay for it? Avanti have daily cancellations for lack of train crew. Taking a driver off a revenue service would of been stupid to record sounds.

This is a fair point too. We have seen what good night lighting can be from the San Bernadino route. For something like Greater London, I would expect a fair amount of buildings and street lights to cast a tiny bit of light.

That being said, I can't really remember what the night lighting looked like on stream, so I'll have to go back and check one day. However, I did a run on Southeastern Highspeed, which had quite nice night lighting.

I'm guessing too late to change now, the ball was rolling on release for this weeks ago. Creating a new timetable would be a lot of work/time, testing etc.
Hopefully after release DTG/modders will increase the service numbers.

I am seriously hoping the West Coast Mainline can be turned around, but I suspect that, unfortunately, you are correct. However, I remember someone mentioning that the Suffragette Line services from the snapshot of the timetable we got had duplicate headcodes. Perhaps this could imply that the timetable could be fixed soon?

I've not heard anything new about the time table or anything old for that matter. Dtg have not even acknowledged the question, asked multiple times in multiple threads.

I've got an hour to test it on release. If it's as sparse as people are saying, I'll be refunding tsw 5 and getting the regional pack for USA. The other route does not interest me whatsoever.

IIRC the WCML south release for TSC was a disaster as well? Almost unplayable during the preview stream? Is there some kind of DTG curse over this route? I'm not sure what to do, haven't preordered anything yet.

Yeah and all of what you asking for will take time if DTG decide to address the problems, but it won't be fix before launch and I would bet good money it will be a long time after, if at all. And all from a product that should be ready to launch, that basically isn't.

It did have performance issues due to it being very detailed, that has been addressed. Not sure if DTG did streams back then, there wasn't this PR machinery they have with TSW. Nobody knew what was upcoming, there was no roadmap or anything like that. Matt used to stream on his own YT channel though, made good tutorials and showcased workshop scenarios.

I'm sure there was a stream with Sam (Colonel Failure) and he was rather uncomfortable with the situation.

I'm not sure how DTG would record sound takes for use in game with the train moving at speed. Would those sounds not be recorded, with permission on a service. I know that there are one or two good audio guys over on Train Sim Community that do great work with their Mods.
I have a Pendalino Bluray see below.

There is a post for 390 sounds ;https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/tsw5-class-390-running-sounds.84437/#post-893026

Dare you mention suspension? I think you get suspended for mentioning suspension don't you? :)

Indeed, WCML Euston - Birmingham was released in 2020 so you're probably right. Though the situation was different, performance was poor because so much detail was put into the huge route. Now with Euston - MK there's just lack of detail and bad visuals.

DTG Alex posted last Wednesday that we can expect more information on WCML post-launch updates early this week, before the advanced/early access period starts, so hopefully that will include positive news about the timetable.

So no freight or 72 tube stock services on 8th gen now. They've taken an already quiet timetable, and cut it even more. It must be having some pretty serious memory issues.

This is odd. I'm sure they have good reason to do this, but I don't think we've seen cuts like this since London Commuter. It seems this routes takes up much more memory than most others.

Im more interested in what they’ve added to the TT for everyone else, considering this would mean they’ve actually been into it since the preview.

  24. I suspect that's just the standard DTG PR response. JD said in another post on expectation management that there would be minimal changes between the stream version and release version.
In short, don't get your hopes up. It looks like the ball was well and truly dropped on this one, and DTG don't make a habit of rectifying past mistakes.

It seems to go from bad to worse, must all those wonderful lighting effects taking up the memory?

I must say this route really has been a ski slope of a release so far. It started off rather high (not as high as ECML or WCML proper in my opinion) and it started to gradually fall with it going to MK instead of Rugby or Brum, the licensing issue too, then it really did fall steeply with the stream and 'response' to the criticism afterwards. The question is will it be able to hop back on the lift through post release refreshes in key areas or will it remain abandoned under a pile of ice and snow left preserved forever in its current state.

It is all about spin and damage control at this point, rather than focusing on fixing the problem. DTG know they have no answers to this short term because they assume they can pedal TSW5 off with a promise of fixing it later.

Gen 8 console support really needs to go, can't keep supporting this 11 year old outdated hardware forever

Then DLC will be double price for the rest of us ;) Gen 8 players are the ones funding this game.

So today's announcement regarding the WCML timetable that was hidden in the FlixTrain article.. actually only talks about timetable REDUCTIONS and not improvements?

was that the supposed update we were promised for early this week? If so that makes my decision whether or not to refund my £54 deluxe pre-order much, much easier

All the time gen8 owners keep buying it, dtg are gonna keep selling it.

Personally, the moment dtg announced a reduced timetable I would have ditched my gen 8 console. If I owned one.
Not everyone can afford to upgrade I guess.

Actually I do own a 8 gen xbox. It's in the cupboard with all the other junk I'm hording.

No disrespect towards console owners intended I must add!

I think that comment was more of a side note in the article, I'd personally suggest for people to wait until Wednesday for the article we were promised regarding many issues before making and decisions on refunds. If the article then isn't satisfactory then I'll be one of the first cancelling my preorder...

I think DTG will just force Gen8 players out themselves, rather than dropping it abruptly.

As Spike alluded to, there is ALOT of users on gen8 still & even if you did drop them, there’s still the series S which is proving to be quite the obstacle for devs too (although it seems to be escaping the TT chopping block here).

In any case, I immediately jumped the Gen 8 ship with Rush Hour, the cuts made even then made the game wholly enjoyable compared to the Gen 9 experience. Now that DTG are excluding included pack trains too, you’ve gotta wonder where more & more people will decide to make the jump going forward.

Rewatched the stream today and there’s still definitely enough for me to enjoy so won’t be cancelling my pre order personally.

Gen 8 players will jump ship if they want to and bring their entire collection with them if they go from Xbox One to Series S/X or PS4 to PS5 plus with games like GTA 6 coming out and other exclusives there will be more incentive to upgrade. Sony has even said they will stop support for PS4 in 2025 so instead of butchering timetables for mediocre consoles they should take full advantage of the new tech. (also PS5 Pro comes out this year)

My post was regarding an upcoming announcement for post-release plans. Not about differences between the preview and the release.

  40. Yup, hence this..
"I suspect that's just the standard DTG PR response."
Historically post launch support has been poor to non existent with DTG DLC.

Basically what you saw is what you'll get, and just look at historical reality to form a judgement on the likelihood of that changing.
I call it the DTG Say-Do gap.

They didn't promise a specific day, what they did say was 'early next week' to release a article regarding feedback, so what I am saying, is, my own advice for people would be give DTG until Wednesday to see what their response is.

From what i saw they said "likely early next week" and "aiming for before early access".

Those sound more like hopes than promises.

Also my bet is a statement on the morning an hour before early access.

As I said in the old thread as soon as the said they are looking into changes for post release patch that no changes will come for release expect what you saw to be around for a month.

Probably find out more at 15.59 on Thursday :D

It's an interesting move taking more services out of 8th Gen though. On the one hand it could be a massive F U to the players on them, or on the other it could be a sign they've made substantial improvements to the timetable in general, and in order to support one they have to cut some of the other.
Only time will tell I guess... Tick tock

Here is a question, Matt has said in the past that as timetables are concerned the Series S is basically an 8th gen.

I could be mistaken but I thought he said whenever there is a lighter timetable for 8th gen that it will also apply to Series S.

So I think this means Series S is cut back as well?

They said on the stream that Series S was using the gen 9 timetable.

So get it within 30 days, no problem. As for anyone else who doesn’t get it within that time, I’m sure, like all of us, you’ve got your own problems to worry about. Don’t worry about others problems. Your stress levels will only rise. ❤️

Yeah, I think we will get promises, which is fair enough, but we were promised suspension for TSW4 and......? So you will be basing your decision on promises, but we shall see?

Where are you going with your month? TSW4 with suspension, then it will come in a few months time!!! Have you met TSW5, now coming with suspension and me have me doubts over that as well? A pattern is developing here....?
