You may want to cancel and restart the installation. There was a bug that accidentally send out a dev version of TSW4 instead of TSW5. (It got resolved about 10 min ago)

Something that i'm looking into, to see what the feasibility is. It might not be as straight forward as it looks due to how trains are all coded uniquely - but will see what the options are. Not promising anything at all at this stage beyond looking into it.

Is there a particular reason the timetable has ended up in this state?

I’ve noticed above you mentioned it hasn’t met our expectations but this is below par by DTG’s latest standards.

There’s layers such as the ROG37, RHTT & 08’s that could very realistically be used here, but it seems the only layer to have got in was the 710.

Then you look at the incorrect consists for the 350’s and general lack of traffic across the route - it’s a huge step down from previous timetables.

Did you flick the breaker switch on the back wall?

On Series S, the past 3 services I’ve tried to take into Euston have all crashed the game around a mile down the line from Euston.

Odd, Series S was showing up with lots of free ram for us - but most likely cause of crashes is out of memory - can you try disabling some layers and see if that helps?

This is at least encouraging. But will not be getting my hopes up until we see something tangible (if we ever do). As it stands, I should have been having a go of WCML tomorrow (I’m at work tonight), but will not be partaking due to the lacklustre timetable and the cancellation of my pre-order. Interesting reading the issues being flagged in the feedback streams in the meantime.

It was the traditional isolation switch, the type you use a key for, but I will look for a circuit breaker next time.

Matt, any chance of getting the Pendos turned around on WCMLS?

Almost all of them I’ve seen have First Class facing north which is the wrong way around (unless on the odd occasion they come off the depot the wrong way).

That's what got me on my first run. I didn't flick the breaker so had no AWS and wondered why.

If you're turning AWS on via manual operation of switches, note that there are *TWO* switches that need operating on the Pendo.

There's a master fuse switch at the top, do that first.
    Then do the usual key-in.

    CTRL-ENTER will do both simultaneously.

    Matt.

I tried that and the crash happened again, and I’ve since discovered that 377 services to Watford crash the game about 900yds before the buffers.

    Only 350 and 390 services are on PS4/Xbox 1 i'm afraid.

Not sure why 390 services are crashing though.

The two locos are really good. Especially the 390. The scenery is fine. And I like the new features.

But by far my two biggest issues are the timetable and the destination boards. DTG have already addressed the timetable issues. But I’m really disappointed in the destination boards and PIS. Really? In a 2024 release we have incorrect and incomplete destination boards? Come on. That’s unacceptable.

This is just text input. The 390 services don’t terminate at Milton Keynes they terminate off map. Also Milton Keynes isn’t Milton Kns. London Euston isn’t Euston. And Birmingham New Street isn’t Birmingham.

Can we please get that sorted quickly as it’s really not a major undertaking and really breaks the immersion. It makes the route seem so much smaller.

I agree with the missing off route stations - but - it's not a quick job, having done this myself for one or two routes, there's a hell of a lot of work involved in setting this up.

Not saying it shouldn't have been done or that it won't, just want to correct that misunderstanding.

Yeah, I’ve discovered that unless the service finishes at Milton Keynes, the game crashes on Series S on approach to Watford or Euston to terminate.

I noticed this too. It needs the classic Johnstone’s typeface! You can’t exit the platforms on foot either. Compared to Goblin it looks like the Lioness line was a bit of an afterthought unfortunately.

No audio for any safety system on the 350. Makes the train unusable if you want to play with safety systems

These bins must be the chosen ones! These bins are at the end of Platform 1 at Euston, behind some fencing. Quite bright I must say. This is on Xbox Series S. IMG_9577.jpeg

I will mention i hope that Ivinghoe Beacon is visible between Tring and Cheddington, it is one of the landmarks on the route and it would feel odd to drive the train without being able to see it, quite a prominent hill rising about 600ft above the surrounding land.

Also spotted a minor graphic issue on the Class 390! In photo mode as you can fly through things now, I stumbled upon this floating sign underneath the drivers coach. Not visible from the exterior but might be worth getting rid off. (Also unsure whether they are under every carriage) Series S! IMG_9578.jpeg

  30. Id just like to express my appreciation for your engagement here Matt. Whilst I may not always like the answers, I'll always roll with brutal honesty if I can understand it (and probably will just ask question after question until I do if I cant). Not every studio would have the resilience to front up in an active way, even when things are going well, as there'll always be flak flying at some point. I also appreciate how you fly high cover for your team- that hasnt gone unnoticed. Im also appreciative of the fact that no DTG means no TSW which in turn means no good UK based train simulation.
I hope that you understand I (and pretty obviously a lot of others) seek to propel the title to greater heights. We do so robustly as its often the loudest hinge that gets the oil if theres a drop or two handy. I'll continue being a foghorn for issues which I think let the sim down, I hope others do too, and I hope you and your team rely on some kind of accurate data collation of issues to try to move the quality level upwards- in as far as possible focusing on the delivery of quality while finding a balance with the required sales streams and removing (or at least quantifying) sales numbers as a barometer of success in meeting quality standards.

  31. The flickering looked a lot better in that video. I put a comment in asking what AA settings they were using. If its FAA then thats a massive improvement..

So first impression of the WCML on PS5 in the 390

    Framerate was really poor
Traffic seemed thin on the ground
    Poor lighting
Poor aliasing (probably caused by the poor lighting)
And tried fast travel at the end to the previous station and the game crashed

So question. Is it to early to ask DTG's Liam for a remaster?

The timetable does need a bit of work. All the hallmarks of a Rivet timetable with missing services and the need to lock the doors at the terminus station to be able to complete the service. As anyone who travels will know, it’s completely unrealistic to lock the doors after 30 seconds when terminating.

Overall, the service variety and scenery are good. Seems a bit odd not to be able to go onto the concourse at Euston, though. And there doesn’t seem to be any bank of departures boards.

The lack of collision I believe is intended (particularly to allow things like tunnel shots), but I will check.

The boot up screen on PS5 is pretty interesting. TSW 5 logo has a different color (blue instead of red), the 5 has a different font and there’s an Overground train front and center. Maybe the Overground rolling stock was supposed to be included with the route at some point? Would make tons of sense to be honest, even more than the inclusion of the Bakerloo stock.

Having just had a quick walk around Euston, one observation I would have is that seeing that big concourse but being unable to access it is quite disappointing. By contrast, on Frankfurt Hbf you can walk into the shops...
Still, Euston certainly looks the part, I'm pleased with that.

Also, is there a technique for the speed set button in the 390? Got it working a couple of times but successful activation seems random. Probably me but it would be nice to know.

You have to be in full/max power for it to activate.

Once you get to your desired speed, press the speed set button located next to the throttle and it'll hold your speed.

The 390 is absolutely incredible. Fair play to whoever modelled it because they’ve hit it out of the park.

Well you know, I have to say what I've seen so far is nowhere as bad as I expected. After doing the first Journey which is once around the TC with the Pendie jumped in the next scenario which is ECS from Wembley into Euston and then a special service to Watford Jn. The approaches to Euston are really well done, IMHO. Not too much stuttering and certainly no CTD. had to come off before finishing the rest of the run to Watford. Will complete tomorrow.

As someone else noted the Pendie is nice to drive and even if not 100% accurate at least there is a traction audio presence unlike the 801 on ECML.

Only thing that spoils it slightly is the lighting saturation but as we know that's a core issue.

So while ther are known issues to resolve in particular the light timetable, my pessimism was probably not entirely justified.

So I decided to keep my preorder because I was impressed with the German route...

The Pendolino is really nicely modelled externally and internally, and is spot on, so the team who developed it have got it right, (and for running sounds that weren't directly recorded for a 390, the sounds are rather impressive and a really nice mix) so top marks from me in that regard. The only minor fault I've found with the Pendolino is the kitchen doors behind the cab do not close/have a close option after being opened. It is a small error in the grand scheme of things and be easily corrected. One other minor thing, is last years Class 801 had some very realistic high speed running sounds inside the cab that seem universal across most 125mph units/locomotives that might sound nice if a similar mix could be implemented onto the Pendolino? Overall very impressed with the Pendolino. The functionality inside the cab is also really nice and immersive. The physics and driving are really nice too, so sincere compliments to the developers for that. I also like the extra level of functionality with the TPWS and AWS buttons that essentially need activating twice with different buttons. Its a nice little addition that adds to the immersion.

I may be alone here, but the route and timetable still feels like a TSW2 route to me. Now I'm aware the timetable has been discussed to death so we don't need to discuss that further. But Euston is eerily quiet to the point of being ghostly. If we look at London Victoria from BML, it has a crowded and busy sounding audio for the station that brings it to life. The concourse is also extremely quiet. Euston is definitely something that needs to be worked on. (Look at BML London Victoria, or the recently remastered CCLs Glasgow Central to hear how a terminus should sound).

The problem we've all seen is the lack of 8 car services, and this is evident and very noticable through out any game play. Most 350 services out of Euston are 8 cars long. I've a theory of why this is and it's a question DTG have yet to answer even though it's been asked many times... I feel the reason there are mainly 4 car services is because they only modelled the 350/1 which only has 30x units in a subclass and would lead to duplications, and for some odd reason no one could be bothered to have other subclasses included reusing the 350/1 model. They done it for the 377/4 in BML so why not here? Very odd. So 8 car services need to be sorted.

When driving on the route, it does have bits of AI railway traffic, but certainly not as busy as it is in real life, and nor does it give a congested and busy feel we were told it was going to be. BML is still far busier from my own experience. It is more on the quiet side and lacking a 'busy commuter railway' feel.

The timetable? Not fantastic or extremely busy. Discussed to death already, no need to go into detail.

The Class 350 is nicely modelled externally and internally so no criticism there. But the physics are a bit offish... Acceleration is fine as it has a 4 notch speed setting, but braking feels bit on the light side and you need to go into the high settings to get any decent response. It's odd as the 380 which is a distant relative of the 350 seems to have absolutely fine braking and the type of responsiveness I would expect. I get the feeling maybe Rivet have had a input with the 350 as its braking physics seem to mirror that of the 385 quite closely. One positive it shares with the Pendolino is the TPWS needs activating with 2 procedures which adds to the immersion for me personally. I'm all for as much interactive functionality as possible.

The Class 350 sounds are good, such as the acceleration and accompanying traction motor sounds. But the 350 (along with the 380) has this slightly annoying loop with the cab sounds, when the unit is running at high speed, it sounds like a slight track joint every 10 seconds or so, and then the sounds loop can be heard starting and repeating itself again. Its hard to describe but thats the best I can do. The outside running noises at speed could definitely do with being made louder as they sound rather quiet and underwhelming at the moment (maybe thats just my own perception?).

The Class 377 is an odd one. It's missing the carriage number sliders inside the cab. The speedometer is far to bright, and the air conditioning seems slightly muted compared to the BML version (which is the accurate representation). The seats also seem to have been slightly altered and are a deeper shade of green, and the texture is slightly offish. (You'd have to compare the original 377/4 from BML to the WCML 377/2 variant to see the difference). Although for me personally, I do not particularly care as I'll be using this as AI, but it's important to note for other players.

The lighting and baking has already been discussed so I feel it is of no use for me to comment on that as it's already been acknowledged as inadequate.

Disappointingly the scenary on the route is lacking a bit, don't get me wrong, you've obviously got some nicely modelled land marks, but the close up track scenary is quite sparse. The London Underground stations look like they have been copy and pasted from the actual Bakerloo Line route from 2020. This could certainly explain the lack of 710 stopping signs?

So yeah, I'd probably give it a 6/10 for the moment. There is clear room for improvement on a number of things. Without sounding insulting though, when I've played the German or US routes I do feel they actually feel like an evolution of the game. The German route is really good... But with this, it doesn't feel like a evolution, it does still feel like a TSW2 route overall. Do I think it can easily be brought upto a TSW5 standard? Most certainly... But it will take some long term commitment to bring it upto that standard and that could be a while off yet.

Yeah, but do you not think it should have arrived in TSW5 standard to start with? And that's the rub every time a new version of TSW comes out.
