Guys, Maybe I'm completely mistaken about what the new rail shadow textures are supposed to look like & behave when in motion, but here's a shot I just took today on the WCML at about 8:05am leaving London. In the box area I've highlighted, you can see the 'end' of the shadows, and they 'grow' & continue to extend ahead of the train as I accelerate. I copied my graphical settings over line-for-line from TSW4 for my setup - is this how it's supposed to look?
It’s been mentioned a few times on streams. The rail shadow thing doesn’t work on junctions as you have showed in the picture due to the mathematics needed to make it work at this stage would cause quite if a bit of lag in the game.
I am happy with the improved track shadows. In training centre they are not improved and I immediately noticed the old track shadows and found them immediately very annoying as I was used to in TSW4. With the improved track shadows there is not an inconsistency permanently on the screen. The junctions not having this trick isn't as annoying as the TSW4 track shadow
I have not seen any information from DTG stating it was a problem with low spec PCs or consoles.. It was the complexity of the calculations themselves.
There's more than one effect that don't work on junctions. Always been this way right back to train simulator.
