Well, as being from Mersyside, I would really like to see the Mersyrail Northern Line with all branches (Hunts Cross - Southport, Liverpool Central - Ormskirk and Kirby). This route should be set in 2022/23 as this could feature the class 507 and class 777. This route would be great as its close to home (for me) and its non linear nature would be a great fit and would have great replay value . Plus, it would have a good conductor mode with a unique experience guarding with the 777, as they are totally different to the regular guarding experience with the 507. PS. Can't find the route length, I would assume its about 30-40 miles long. Another route I would like to see is the Southwestern Railway London Commuter networks, this would be London Waterloo - Woking via Staines, Hounslow and Surbiton, with branches to Windsor and Hampton Court. This route could see rolling stock being Class 450, 455 and class 458, DLC's could be the class 444 and class 707. Again this route would have a very non linear nature and can have journeys up to 1.5hrs in length with the London - Weybridge via Hounslow, this (I think) would stop people moaning. I don't think these services have guards but would be cool to guard. I would like to see (if we ever get) this route set in the modern day, so we have the refurbished 458, etc. I do think this route would have an increased price and the shire amount of things within this route would make it extremely unoptimized, but would still be amazing to see. With the new addition of the Cardiff City network with countless branches, it would be lovely to see an abundance of 3rd commuter services i.e., the ones I've just mentioned. Well, thank you for your time and I hope to see many counter arguments to my perhaps bad views. Thanks
I love the ideas and especially the merseyrail part, put out a suggestion myself somewhere explaining why it should be a route added but can't find it so I back this one. My one which I'll add on here: Merseyrail Northern and Wirral line ( one route, not two ) because it has a wide range of services and also have moves from depot to depot around the network. It has vast scenery from tunnels to fields to golf courses and then valleys. Both the Northern and Wirral line have a total of 69 stations which are served by the stadler class 777's and used to be served by the BR Class 507 and 508 EMU's. There is a total of 76 ( including headbolt lane ) miles of track. I am suggesting both lines which have multiple destination on each line on them because it can bring in a wide range of stock moves ( stated above ) and will make for interesting scenarios if a train breaks down due to the capabilities for bi-direction movement and alot of turnback points. The class 37 could be involved for scrap runs and the RHTT could be altered to a MPV for those autumn months during leaf fall season. I hope this is read and considered as it would be a great idea and hopefully you **can** get it done before the 507's are off the network to be able to capture the sounds needed for them. I hope you find this well and do contact merseyrail to see if you can get a license to do it.
as much as i would want both lines i dont think we would, as it is a fair bit of network and 3 trains is alot. yes lots of variety but its like adding the victoria and piccadily line in a bundle. it doesnt really work
There are still guards on SWR. Any time any mentions a SWR-based route, "can't get a license" always quoted. I'd love a Merseyrail route. If the 314 can be made, then the 507/508s can too. I'd set it around time Headbolt lane opened as you'd be able to drive the 777 on battery power and while only a few were 508s left and withdrawn a few months later, the 507s still dominated the Southport services.
I thought the title was a complaint that there were too many commuter routes. "Nonsense" I thought, can't have enough of them in TSW, but then I grew up in suburbia where the vast majority of my train journeys were for the purposes of commuting. Anyway, life story done, I'd love to see either the whole or a good portion of the Merseyrail network despite my Southern leanings. I think just 507s and 508s would probably make it a little dull, so I'd vote (as I always do) for a spell of transition with 777s and have a 60/40 in favour of the older units. EDT Incidentally, Armstrong Powerhouse took sounds from the 508 "as they share the same compressor noise as a Class 312", I wouldn't be surprised if they used the trip to capture sounds of both 507 and 508s while they could just in case they're needed in the future.
I can see the Merseyrail route coming to the game, whether it is the Wirral or Northern Line, it's anyone's guess but both offer multiple branches and both utilise the 507 and 777, so either line could work. If route mileage allows, you could even have the full-scale of the Merseyrail network with both lines included as standard, but the chances of that happening are minimal. Personally, the Northern Line would be better as you have the WCML and EMR AI already for Liverpool South Parkway. All you need is a Northern 150 or 156 for AI at Kirkby (Headbolt Lane), Southport and between LPY and Hunts Cross .
There are also branches to Epsom, Shepperton and Chessington South. I would love to buy any of these as well as those in the suggestion.
I think Hounslow loop should be added with shepperton services you can go on too so many small branch lines on the SWML I think to Guildford with Which I love I think this is something that people would love as it it prevents linear routes and gives more choices and options for gameplay with the Kingston route and perhaps Hampton court could be added it's insane route though this so I wouldn't expect anything like this until their next big release
It would be incredible to have SWR. The line to Guildford would be great and offers a variety of services.
You could potentially put some GWR layers in for the north downs line - - - > this line should have its own route, guildford-reading(could be one of the mini branch lines elarthur announced) <- - -
