I have some questions regarding the ROTEM cab car. I think it was well established that the Metrolink stock doesn’t feature any PTC. Despite that, there are fuses on the panel for PTC, Automatic Train Stop (ATS) , and Train Management System (TMS). All of these switch’s are toggle-able. In fact, PTC is cut-in by default. Does anyone know what functionality, if any, these systems have. Are they just there for an extra button to press or does turning on ATS and TMS actually have some sort of effect?
Gotcha, I figured. I did notice something odd though, the “Circle” button does not acknowledge the alerter on the Rotem cab car, and instead I need to move the throttle. Is this how it is done on real life, or did they forget to bind that key to the alerter acknowledge?
I did not try the Rotem cab car yet, but if the button does not work it is probably a bug as rennekton suggests.
So basically it's something that will never get fixed and the alerter function will forever be incorrect.
Are you playing on PlayStation? I assume you are as you mentioned the circle button. I've played a couple of timetable runs on PS5 in the bi-level cab car and the circle button has cancelled the alerter.
On PS4 here and had the same problem. Circle did not cancel the alerter in the cab car. There was a similar issue with the cab car back on the Boston Sprinter route. It eventually got fixed in a patch. Hoping for the same here. Just tested it again and it does work to cancel the alerter with circle on PS4. It's just that circle makes no sound and doesn't move the actual button in the cab, but it still cancelled the alerter.
Well it definitely works. I was just using it. HEP is turned on? All cab switches are set properly? A step is being missed here.
btw I know that cab setup switch has to be on "setup"... but I have also noticed that the throttle handle has a notch called "setup"... what is that for? like, the reverser has to be in "setup" position during actual setup or sth?
That’s for dynamic braking. When putting the throttle into the setup position for ten seconds, you’ll be able to… use the dynamic brakes.
aaah, so thats why dynamic brakes have a slight delay when I just move the throttle into the dynamic braking range lol... I got to first put it into setup position, then on... ok, thx for advice
In the words of DTG Matt, if you don't keep the controller in the setup position for at least 10 seconds before using the dynamic brake... "Sparky sparky, magic smoke go out, train no go no more." This was over 3-4 years ago, and that line still makes me laugh!
The Setup with Dynamic braking is simply to give the system time to change over from traction to engine/traction motor braking. The concept is the same Truck Engine braking Train Dynamic Braking
Exactly same. No lights, at night time it was the most boring drive ever. PC steam user here Thought about doing a timetable run early in the morning. No track visible, no lights, no alterer. No fun at all.
Are you by chance using the cab view mod by Spike1975? He discontinued all his mods including that one and if you’re still using it, it breaks the headlights, among other things, in the latest version of TSW. You need to remove it.
The Antelope Valley Line's Rotem Cab Car has had its headlights broken for a couple of months now after an update. I read your message and thought it may have been patched, but nope. I have never dabbled in mods, DX12, or engine.ini changes or anything like that. Completely vanilla game.
Okay, I don’t believe the update fixing this issue has been pushed out for public release then yet. Will just have to wait until that happens. For what it’s worth, there is no issue with the San Bernardino version of the Rotem cabcar. I know that’s not much help for all of the AVLA scenarios though but if you were just looking to run a train on the route, create a formation using the San Bernardino Rotem cabcar for the time being.
