Had a fun experience of sitting down with a friend who drives the 350s on the line in real life instructing me. Quite impressed that all the braking points he told me worked pretty much spot on, so the performance in terms of acceleration and braking for the 350 is really well done. I've also had a couple of good runs lately with a lot of AI traffic, even on the BKL/DC lines, so its a shame the whole day's worth of timetable isn't like that. I've had a great time on this route now and there are some impressive details, but they just show up the annoying problems such as the terrible lighting in Euston, constant incorrect/not working/duplicated AWS magnets, 350s driving round with pitch black cabins etc. that you really wonder how it was possible they made it as far as late beta testing let alone full release. I do wonder how much impact the leaks and/or licensing issue (and if they were linked) had on the development, but then a lot of these problems are similar to those routes have released with plenty of times before, so who knows.
I'd be interested if he gave any tips on braking you'd be willing to share? For example, do they aim for a particular % braking value at all their braking points, etc etc?
NOT buy until DTG fixes the bugs, one of which is it crashes on consoles, bye Felicia!!! I pre ordered TSW4 and we found out what a knock about of fun that was and how many updates later and months. DTG still haven't fixed bugs or glitches going back to TSW2 days. So, did DTG learn their lession from TSW4, yup they sure did, they learnt they can toss TSW out in any condition, make us wait and then they can spend 6 month patching some of it, while DTG are offering/asking us to preorder and money up front for a product they know isn't finished.
Still not answering the question of which routes are you happy with and what do you personally enjoy playing? What is your gold standard?
The sections before and after Watford really need some work. The lighting is completely off in those spots and it’s very noticeable.
Some amazing deals in here. Trainz 2022 is 80% off. There's a stack of TSW routes I'm going to pick up. Splurge time. Edit- some if what I refer to concerns the steam element of this. Eg flight sim 24 trainz 22 etc
I don't mean to spoilt it for people, but there are no planes or automoblies unless you count the ones that float in San Ber
Flight sim 2024 Transport Fever 2 Etc I've been spending. Bought the Trainz 2022 deluxe for £13, Transport fever 2, more to come.
More timetable woe to report I'm afraid - Birmingham-bound Class 350s are scheduled in-game to stop at Platform 1 (Down Fast) at Leighton Buzzard, whereas in reality they are scheduled for Platform 3 (Down Slow), moving over just prior to LB at Ledburn Junction. Unfortunately for our in-game timetable, this means that any Avanti services that have been slowly catching up to the said 350 services thanks to their higher top speed since Watford all have to slam on the anchors and come close to a complete stop to wait for the Birmingham semi-fast to get out of the way, which it doesn't do until just before Bletchley, a further six miles down the road. During the excessively long stop for my 350 at Leighton Buzzard (1Y15, arrived two minutes early, caused by the calculated intermediate timings which I've droned on about before), I also noticed that for some reason a Euston-bound train is scheduled to stop on what looks to be the wrong direction track (P3) at 08:26 am - I haven't had a chance to investigate this one further yet. Also noted on Discord earlier that 9G50 (Avanti 390 Euston - Wolverhampton) is pathed worryingly wrong - it's meant to use the slow lines all the way to Milton Keynes and beyond but is actually pathed onto the wrong-direction Up Fast at Wembley and doesn't switch back over until Watford, which I make to be nearly 10 miles of wrong-direction 125mph running! (Credit to HolWard for finding this one) Honestly - I know this won't be a popular suggestion within DTG/Rivet but I'd bin this timetable and start again. Aside from a lack of traffic on the DC lines, there are so many things wrong that I think it would be easier to start from a clean slate.
There’s been a few things about Trainz that has put me off buying it. I’m now booting up the to PC buy it.
Yeah, can't go wrong with flight simulator unless you have a ps5 I had the old version tranz spent days/weeks building tracks for the track to suddenly gitch out for no good reason.
I agree but sadly I can't see them making a new timetable. I do wonder what research they did to come up with the current timetable.
You lucky man! Children aren't the issue as you can say no to them, it is the grandchildren who cost the money, already said I'd buy the grandsons the JT route!
Pretty happy at buying £340 worth of content for £13 Even the missus is happy with that. Added the simrail cargo pack to my simrail installation too. Once I've got the tsw5 core update I'll pick up London to Brighton which is on a good deal. Happy Times.
Quick bug report: The DRS/ONE 66s seem to be able to sub in to any 66 working other than ones on the WCML - any chance they could be added? Cheers.
Well, today is the day for those of us didn't want buy wcml get TSW5 core for free. I will download it at least, but not sure to transfer my progress just yet as I don't think I can import my progress back on to TSW4 if 5 turns out to be a nightmare. Anybody know if you can back port progress?
I'm grabbing WCML later on, plus the Pendolino. Should I get the free base version first, add in my existing DLCs, then WCML? Not sure if there's a better way of doing it ...
Generally there was a point you would shut off if running on fall power, then a point to start to 'rub', the very first step of light braking. There is a 'brake min' level on the power handle of these although it doesn't have much affect in game so I was going lightly into about 15% brake. The next braking point was then up to 50% to lower your speed, once you were happy you were under control and slowing down well it was down and up, trying not to go above 50%, up to your stopping point. In real life I guess this can be a little different between different trains / lengths etc, so relying on feeling and how your running brake test went.
The feedback I have is that where I live needs to be modelled correctly. I live in the flats next to Apsley station and it looks horrible Only joking. The actual feedback I have is that I get fuzzy lines at the bottom of the cab window on the 350, haven't tried any of the other trains on this line, but this fuzziness can be quite distracting. Also noticed on the map that the southbound overground line at Harrow and Wealdstone where the points meet the Bakerloo line sidings is not attached to anything.
It doesn't seem a lot of our feedback was really acknowledged recently. Anyone have the same feeling? Tbh lots of things on their I didn't even notice ahaha. But again It is a Rivet made route so are we going to get any Major changed, like the timetable and that. Also the 390 sounds not happy the fact a modder can get them spot on and yet whoever made sounds for the 390 have basically used fake ones. Absolute disgrace tbh, for again as I repeat myself for a most requested route and train to Muck them both up is just an embarrassment. First Class end wrong end, doesn't seem to be acknowledged by DTG? I mean speaking to others who are passionate very unlikely we are going to see many major changed in the future, quite frankly not good enough. I speak from Passion for this route and the more I have played it, the more I have realised what is wrong. As someone said to me the whole route should be scrapped and remade and in all honesty people modders to do it who can make the route immaculate and DTG to pay them. Shame I am on PS5 and not on PC. Back to the 390, anyone watched the Modded 390 sounds and that? I mean I was mind blown that is how a 390 should sound! He did it entirely for free. We are getting bent over here quite frankly. It drives very well but the sounds just ain't their.
Oh so DTG or whoever got the sound wrong as well? Might be quicker to list what they got right and work backwards. If another company or companies were involved, then on a shear business perspective whoever is subcontracted to do the work, it will usually be down to the subcontractor to carry out any amendments. However, if DTG signed off on it then it becomes DTG problem and they have to find the time, money and resources to put it right. Probably all of this and more is going on behind the scenes while we wonder when is wcml going to get fixed? I think DTG should make a train simulator making company simulator, I bet we wouldn't play that for long, be too much of a headache.
I hope it is all going on behind the scenes. Thing is we don't know and I am just stating my opinion at end of the day. Just saying the Route as a Whole ain't good enough. I shut up now
Not just for WCML but it would help transparency if DTG were to maintain a list of known issues from reported bugs (stickied and locked for their edit only) which would increase customer confidence a bit. For example, the CTD’s which appear to be triggered by using the 2D map - a bit of acknowledgement goes a long way.
Here you go! You'll have to scroll a bit. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/tsw5-early-access-–-everything-you-need-to-know.84566
On the 390 DTG did say prior to release that the 390 sounds were fictional, at least when actually running. The static & move off sounds are actually quite accurate. Accuracy wise it could definitely use some work for running sounds & there is the very obvious looping under 40mph.
So they didn't need entirely accurate sounds to make a 390, but can't do US locos because of that very same stated reason? Interesting.
Yes the Static and move off are. What I am pointing out is that we should be getting realistic sounds, Buy it off the modders, fed up of getting fictional sounds. Its like ughhhh.
Not taking the way the fact the 390 is really fun to drive cause it is, way more than the Azuma just be nice to get realistic sounds for such a requested train.
Its a lot easier for DTG to get on a 390 or be around them in general, even if they can’t setup recording equipment. Essentially it’s easier for them to get close to the real sounds (even if they still fall short). For US stuff it’s practically impossible for them to access or get near, so any faking of sounds becomes harder for them to come up with. Thats why Matt has made repeated calls for anyone that can help to get in touch.
Well done, we got a train. I ain't going to argue with you about it. I can't stand here and talk to people who like to play with unrealistic sounds.
Agreed, but I’ve always had the approach that where they can’t get the real thing, to at least give us good quality sounds. That’s why I just want the looping addressed. Just to address the getting off modders subject, they sure could do that, but then you need to think about where the modder got it from & weather it’s compatible with how DTG implement things. If a modder has ripped off AP sounds, then boom huge problem for DTG. A modder won’t have tested for console compat, so what happens when DTG put it on Xbox & it doesn’t work their their audio setup? I love my PS5 & I love my Xbox for things, but when it comes to changing the way a developer has done something, you just need to buy a PC. If TSC released on console (hypothetical situation here), I’d never buy it, because I depend on third party software to make it enjoyable. The reason I got into TSW on console is because my PC is full of games that I’ve got modded & manipulated to high heaven, sometimes it becomes impossible to enjoy the game because something I’ve changed in the game files has broken & it’s ALOT of back and forth to resolve it. I don’t agree with a lot of things DTG do in TSW, but at least it’s simple in comparison to the amount of things I’d be changing on the PC version.
Yes ofc, but my argument is that Modder's have been able to do the sounds really well. Have you managed to watch the 390 Sound mod video for TSW?
Ahhh okay thanks for that explanation mate since you edited. Shame they can't buy the AP Sounds, assuming it's AP Ripping them off?
It would be a good idea to have a list of known bugs and then players look through the list, but it would be a long list. And if there was such a list DTG couldn't sweep it under the carpet and it would highlight all the problems and faults with TSW in general and it would impact DTG and maybe players who think TSW is perfect, could damage product image. Maybe if DTG did a update sheet of the actual bugs they are working on at the moment? And players can look at that and maybe DTG could give a completion date on bug fixes? Might be asking a bit much with the date?
As i said, we don’t know how the modder went about the sound gathering, which is the issue there. DTG aren’t alone in just not implementing user mods to their core, it’s an industry wide thing that takes place for a 100 different reasons. As for why DTG seem to have stopped using AP, I’m gonna guess it’s a cost issue. But it’s also worth noting that AP do use artistic license with their packs too. They use real sounds yes, but some of them are often over-exaggerated for the benefit of the player experience (ie traction motors being more audible in cab than IRL).
Guess we're gonna disagree on that one. I'd rather have close than none. Now if it played the "Benny Hill" theme instead of sounding anything like a train, then I might agree. But if it's "close" then that's good enough for me. It's admittedly a game at the end of the day. They aren't training engineers on it.
Anyone else on Xbox Series X having an issue with textures when driving the 710? They keep popping between high def and looking like clay.
