With the recent release of Kinzigtalbahn Frankfurt - Fulda, I believe it's a prudent time to discuss the Main-Spessart Bahn. This is one of the older routes of the game, having been released in 2019, and would benefit greatly from a second pass. The current version is only about half of the greater route, and if redone in full it would be linking two major stations we already have: Hanau and Würzburg. On the segment from Gemünden to Würzburg, the route also can see the Schnellfahrstrecke route currently existing several times, as well as actually connecting to it via Lohr (this would have to be added to Kassel-Würzburg if used for route hopping). Further, the completion of the Spessart Ramp tunnels would allow more variety in services (either the existing timetable using the old route, or a new timetable using the current routing).
If DTG remasters are going to follow the recent LIRR Commuter, there is going to be a £29.99 price tag stuck on it. You'll probably be buying the exact same route with a ToD4 update and short extension to justify having to rebuy it. DTG don't do free remasters.
Cathcart Circle made you buy the Class 380 DLC to get the new timetable. West Somerset Railway was not remastered by DTG. It was done by one employee in his own time. GWE is being remastered by the same guy who remastered West Somerset Railway. Not by DTG. Like I said. DTG don't do free remasters.
Yes, a DTG employee, working for DTG during working hours, on DTG's dime. You don't think he did it in his free time without pay, do you?
I would love some improvements to the dostos, but adding a doubled ended dosto consist with motors isn’t what I had in mind.
Okay? Is that really so terrible a thing, when this specific case would be quite literally doubling the length of the route, as well as completely redoing scenery? Also, DTG does do free extensions: Southeastern High Speed. Yes, it was a base route, but I didn't purchase TSW3 and still received the extended version on TSW4.
The "you had to buy TSW× for SEHS" line also doesn't work anymore, as anyone who jumps from TSW2 to TSW5 with the free upgrade will automatically get SEHS upgraded (and the 465) for, unquestionably, free.
Well the experience and cab would not offer anything "new", to what we already have, but that seems to be the trend nowadays.
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...wQFnoECBQQAQ&usg=AOvVaw3Jk6dYx-LL-mpwB0PiJH6t TSW2 -> TSW5 doesn't require a purchase to get the SEHS upgrade, no.
They should do a whole new route for full price involving modern day Hanau-Aschaffenburg-Würzburg with the Twindexx and the BR 1440. They can reuse loads of assets and existing trains. The whole area around Fulda, Frankfurt, Würzburg and Aschaffenburg ist built up so well at this point, they might as well just complete it. Would be a first day buy for me!
They remastered Dresden - Riesa and added the Meißen branch as well as a high speed section later on - free of charge.
Meißen was added a long time before the remaster was done, and the high speed section already existed.
Absolutely agree for an MSB remaster. In my opinion, while I'd prefer to see an extension to both Wurzburg and Hanau, now with Frankfurt-Fulda, Hanau seems more of a logical choice if one had to be chosen. For example, if I remember correctly, some of the peak-time services from Maintalbahn go all the way to Frankfurt. So would be cool to go from Miltenberg to Aschaffenburg (Maintalbahn), then Aschaffenburg to Hanau (MSB remaster/extension) and Hanau to Frankfurt (Kinzigtalbahn) in the 642 etc. While I still love playing older routes such as this, MSB compared with the likes of RSN seems to look more dated, so another justification for a remaster.
I think a MSB remaster/extension would be a nice last corner stone for the south west section of TSW. I hope after that, we get to explore other regions of Germany. On https://www.tswmaps.com/world you can see, that there is sort of a FAM bias Next for a change I would like to see a route in Berlin or one of the iconic, historic lines (HH-Berlin, Marschbahn, Bremen-HH, HH-Hannover) something like that.
I agree. Something around Hamburg would be really nice. Hamburg to Bremen would be great considering the new route hopping. I‘d also greatly welcome another route in the Rhein Ruhr area.
They seem to often make 2-3 routes in the same area, but never seem to connect them in a logical way with matching timetables. I hope this is something that still happens in the distant future. Maybe even by third parties. Lukas spoke about Berlin on Stream and that it would be very difficult to do. When you go from Berlin, there are no logical endpoints close by except Frankfurt (Oder)...and that route is kind of boring. To Leipzig, Hamburg or Hannover is too far. Stuttgart, Hannover and Nürnberg are also still blank slates on the route map. Also the vehicles needed are a consideration. Hamburg-Bremen might be a good one. They can make Metronom and layer it to Bremen-Oldenburg for AI. But we are also lacking many other vehicles that could layer to many routes. Lints, Flirts, BR 1/440, Twindexx, Kiss, HC Desiro, Eurodual Loco and modern freight waggons. Austria and Switzerland also have lot of potential because of lidar and the way mountains look in TSW. Tauernbahn, Arlbergbahn oder the famous Brenner route would look stunning. Any other Rhb route would also be popular.
I was thinking the same thing but from Hanau it is about 100km (from Frankfurt 120-130km) but traffic between Frankfurt and Hanau would also benefit since many trains, even international ones (for example to Vienna) from Hanau head towards Aschaffenburg and travel along the entire MSB and then exit shortly after Lohr am Main to take (I deduce) the high-speed line back to Wurzburg.
I wouldn't call that a remaster, not in the same way GWE and West Somerset Railway have been remastered, and I think it's clear that is what others are referring to when they say remaster. I have to say, I went on WSR recently and thought wow, this is beautiful. I do hope other routes get this kind of remaster, if he has the time to spare
