Did my first run on the DC Line yesterday evening. Couldn’t help thinking passing through the Kensal Green single bore tunnel, the interior looks like it has been textured using the old Superquick OO brick paper! Flat texture, no safety recesses, no weathering or grunge. I don’t recall it being like that on Bakerloo. Apart from the caveats others have mentioned, the section wasn’t too bad otherwise though would much rather be driving it from a Class 501 unit.
I noticed that that Wembley Yard has no lighting. Perhaps they did not notice that the lighting is on the OHLE gantries, or not possible to model for TSW?.
Would have really liked the 390 to layer into Birmingham cross city and Glossop would have been nice .
From what I've seen online and on YouTube the whole route looks ok but unfinished. I think they had grandiose ideas for it, but as usually happens time ran out and they rushed it in the end. They can be good route builders if the want to be, Suffragette was a little gem. The problem at DTG is undoubtedly too much dlc on the conveyer belt always and not enough time to devote to making each route as it should be for the cost. Quantity over quality in other words. If they don't revisit the WCMLS timetable I shan't be buying because I spend so much time on the route IRL I simply can't bring myself to drive a half arsed route where so many of the services are missing and the 350's have all shrunk to 4 car consists, but especially the 710's which have been massacred. Sadiq would do his nut if he saw his beloved Lioness line in this state.
On this route, did anyone see the Alan Thomson stream of this route on Twitch? For a route that is clearly poorly made, they were uncharacteristically complimentary or defending it. I’m sure it’s nothing to do with the fact they are now developing a route for TSW. If you go back a year you’ll see a VERY different approach. Money talks..
I was absolutely gobsmacked to see TrainSimTV doing the same. I appreciate the position they are in but Tom was balanced and fair looking at Fife Circle. I almost couldn’t believe my ears listening to how complimentary he was being to WCMLS.
What is really frustrating is that TSW is always nearly there in terms of what is produced over all, with a bit of a nudge and a good shove TSW could be to train simulators, what Microsoft Flight Simulator is to flight simulators, but the then DTG produce or release wcml and you just think what the hell? I did ask or make the suggestion about joining routes up or at least have wide variety of services running from the same station, now we got route hopping which is a step towards something like this connecting route even though it is through a load screen. Yes, DTG are focusing on producing products to sell and one could argue they are too focused on selling and not looking after issues with TSW. Fine selling, but if your product quality suffers or goes down then eventually people won't buy the product and then it won't make any difference what DTG does. Probably two main reasons that cause wcml DTG probably wasn't in a postion to make the route or the whole route, DTG probably didn't have the time or resource to make wcml. Or DTG are trying a new venture where they want to subcontract routes or part of routes construction, either in terms of a joint business venture or to free up resouces.
"Oh you don't like I route, let me leave that suitcase full of money there and you might have a change of heart" lol non bias is non bias till it is not.
Not the most important thing, but did Rivet not bother using the Johnston/TFL typeface for the Lioness line? Speaking of which, there's static 710's sitting at West Hampstead sidings. Never mind that, put them into that poor attempt of a timetable, even if it has auto-generated timings!
Everything about Wembley Yard is incorrect in this reproduction by Rivet. From signalling to routing to actual layout, all drastically wrong.
Sorry for the late addon, you are correct in your thought. The 377/7s are the only stock (as of current) that runs the East Croydon to Watford Junction - I would know this as I use the route more or less daily for work. The 377/2s use to run the route until the May 2023 timetable overhaul where they were replaced with the now 377/7s. Presently the 377/2s can be found on all other parts of the network working both metro and commuter southern services
Yes I remember his review of the (original) WSR, very uncomplimentary. Frankly if there is a conflict of interests, he shouldn't even be doing reviews anymore. Which combined with their iffy business model for TSC means I am unlikely to ever buy any of their stuff and that likely includes their TSW route too, if it ever actually surfaces.
Yep. All reviews should be impartial with no axe to grind and no money, products or services changing hands quid pro quo.
It is confusing to us mere mortals who are neither ambassador or content creator, I tend now to buy late on after a few patches and a reduced price. Don't watch any of the reviewers as can make my own mind up. Would be great though to get paid a footballers salary for opening shoe boxes on a streaming service mind...
But people still keeping buying this half arsed content so what incentive do they have to change their ways.
There will be thousands of players from around the world who don't know the route and therefore don't find the errors so egregious. Though they will still notice the obvious bits like submerged passengers and CTDs on approach to Euston. Let's hope we hear some updates from DTG early this week.
I've noticed on a few stations, the phone box used to contact the signaller, is half submerged in the platform.
Can't expect anything less from some ambassadors to be honest. You had one here claiming that this route is busy but that just is not the case. Euston is still a quiet station and should be way busier than it is in the game. Queens Park is effectively a ghost town. This route is not busy and any notion that it is busy is just absurd Inaccurate consists on the Class 350, poor sounds on the Class 390, lighting issues, ohle issues, passengers walking onto the tracks whenever I use the 710, the innacurate timetable on all services, poor attention to detail on the Lioness/Bakerloo line stations and other reported problems makes this easily the worst of the 3 core routes on TSW 5. This route could've been great but this route was clearly rushed to meet self imposed deadlines. DTG need to do better at having consistent quality on all their products. This game has been out for 7 years. Routes should be getting better in terms of quality. They shouldn't be getting worse
This, 100% this. I posted this elsewhere, about this clearly feeling like a rushed release. Not sure I'll ever get an answer, but I'd like to know why the July roadmap showed what we now know to be the TSW5 content in the 4-6 months category. Was that a deliberate sleight of hand to make people think there wouldn't be a TSW5 in September (and if so, how can we ever trust what DTG says on timings)? Or was the release date moved up after the July roadmap (and if so, why, given how clearly rushed and unfinished WCMLS is)?
Anyone compared the on Cathcart to WCML South? 390 Departure boards at Glasgow are all correct, 390 door PIS isn't as it shows Euston as Next stop when it ain't but if you go inside the 390 ready for a Euston service it will show all stops correctly. Then you go on WCML and is completely different. It is absolutely disgusting quality that should of never been released. It is as we have said a Rivet working, yet it has been Since the 12th since the game released so 10 days. Hopefully we got a remaster (can't believe I am saying that) of WCML to make it up to standards it should of been. But again it is a Rivet product and if all these matters don't get sorted we as a community should stand up to this Nonsense! This was on a discord (before I was in the discord) on a TSW one Posted December 2021. Now obviously joking, and same comment came up again when I was in it. Believe I said 'Imagine if DTG got Rivet to do WCML' Well that nightmare came true. It is disgusting how we are being treated. Why on earth would you get RIVET TO DO WCML WITH THEIR POOR REPUTATION!!!! IT MAKES NO BLOODY SENSE WHATSOEVER! Nice to see this Thread still going but I am still baffled to hell about the decision.
Wembley OLE is also completely wrong. The actual ole compared to what is used in game is very different. Honestly the entire BKL section needs redoing. Also the pendolino needs a route to give it a proper run. 50 miles isn’t enough as, when you finally get up to speed you have to start worrying about Milton Keynes, just feels like another GWE
DTG are well know for bringing in subcontractors, either individuals or development teams such as TSG worked with DTG on some routes or trains and they did bring in people for Dresden The problem is who they brought in. Rivet have subbed for DTG before for the scenery for Cathcart (obviously before the remaster). But the real problem here Is Rivet have not really come far in development terms or quality since then. In terms of scenery they have been left well and truly behind compared to DTG and other 3rd parties and yes, that includes Skyhook considering the improvements made to Midland Mainline. As for the rest such as timetables, well the less said the better DTG have to get wise here. They have to either kick Rivet up the backside to improve on all parts of their work or simply dump them from being involved with TSW in any capacity because as of right now, nothing would be lost if it were the latter
100% what you said Pessi. The fact they did a Shorter section and still managed to F it up is quite am embarrassment. Like I understand their could be some issues if they did like to Rugby which is 81 miles or Even New street which is 112 miles because it is a bigger section but the fact it is 50 miles ( actually less in route miles because of the track) is quite embarrassing. As a Customer I would expect better quality content for such a route slashed half in size basically.
My thoughts on this route after playing it since launch are that it’s an incredibly enjoyable route, so much so that I’ve not touched any of the other base routes yet BUT that only serves to make the problems seem more egregious. With a bit more time in the oven and a lot more attention to detail it could EASILY been one of the top three routes in the entire game, but all the niggles add up which make it really frustrating. It’s fun but could’ve been so much more. (not Rivet bashing specifically here, I really enjoy some of their stuff, FC and Berina in particular)
This is just a all time rib tickler of a line I have to say, I'm cackling with laughter...... But in all seriousness, it's a sodding video game/simulator, depending on what camp you sit in on that subject, you are not being treated in any way shape or form, people need to stop acting like it's the end of the world just because a game didn't turn out like they wanted it to. Sure it could of and should have been better, but so should many things that exist in this world. At the end of the day it's a bit of software code, a thing that doesn't impact your life or harm you in any form, so everyone just needs to calm down and let their bloody blood pressures go back to a sensible level for the human species.......
Im sure it cannot be that difficult to add route extensions at a future date. Not being a developer or software engineer Im not too sure how it would work but Im there is a way…and I’d be surprised if DTG aren't looking into its feasibility.
The roadmap tells you what's coming to TSW. Doesn't make sense to for it to have been a TSW5 roadmap as it wasn't officially announced at the time.
I will. Just don’t like being accused of acting like it’s end of the world when i’m getting a review and i’m passionate about the game. Simply defending myself
Earlier I spawned in at Wembley station just to have a look around and I have to say those orange robot things are stupid. It were just in the middle of the platform, not hidden or owt. I don't mind collectables, but at least don't make the stupid ones stand out too much as it just looks terrible. Speaking of things that are terrible, what is the deal with the scarfs which, to me, look like Manchester City ones. Not a fan of that at all.
You're missing my point. The TSW5 routes and (Deluxe edition) locos were listed in the 4-6 months section of the July roadmap. That's much more towards the end of the year than September.
Things can and do change. It's not always possible for them to tell us. Or it could simply be that they forgot to update the roadmap for one reason or other.
Nobody is acting like it's the end of the world. We all know it is a game. But we as customers have every right to expect that we get good quality products especially at the prices DTG charge and to call out the developers when they don’t deliver. (I got the routes via xbox gamepass) Comments like yours are just a desperate attempt to dismiss valid criticism because it's not what you want to hear. If you enjoy the route, then that is fine, but saying that people who provide valid feedback and criticism are acting like it's the end of the world is rather silly. People who provide feedback and criticism want the game to be better and does more good to try to get the game we enjoy playing improved than people like you trying to dismiss criticism by saying that people who provide feedback or criticism are acting like it's the end of the world when that is just not the case
Wembley station and Harrow are easily the worst two stations on the line, they are copied and pasted from BKL
