Boring and repetitive is exactly what WCML will be if improvements are not made. I haven't took the plunge but enough words have been said here to manage my expectations which are that you would have to pay me to waste HD space on it.
Had to laugh, I decided to do a Euston - Birmingham run in TSC today. Unfortunately I had the wrong Class 390 mod so the only one I saw was the one I was driving and the scenario was made with an old weather enhancement pack so I had flashing skies north of Coventry. Neither are issues with TSW. On a more positive, forward-looking note. I think a Class 730 pack should be a priority for DTG. Green 5 car ones for WCMLs and AI around Birmingham New Street, Orange/Purple 3 car ones for BCC. Though the 3 car units have also been used down south for a short while to enable the 319s to go off-lease. Another one handle wonder but they would add modernity and variety to both routes.
Know this is Random But I honestly prefer TSC WCML Euston to New Street’s . Can’t afford all these mods but I still prefer it and it’s mainly due to the distance. Honeymoon period has now vanished for the game.
I agree, I love the WCMLS in TSC, so busy with all the traffic there that should be present, and Euston jam packed. I did a run yesterday and with the RW enhancer 2 it was wonderful to behold. Even Freightliner 66's! By contrast the TSW looks like a ghost town from what I've seen on streams.
I said it myself earlier in discussions before the route came out that it needs a super mega timetable to reflect real life,I don't think it's a complete disaster, but it leaves alot of room for improvement, for example no use of class 37,s no rail treatment train,no rail tours ,and not forgetting the underground and dc line sparse timetable let's hope these things get addressed, then it would be a complete decent route
I am confused here. I have been a user of TSC since it was known as Railworks and as far as I can remember it only supports scenarios and Freeroam. It doesn’t have a 24 hour timetable function so how can it have all the traffic that should be present since all scenarios are just set pieces. The amount of traffic is dependent on what the scenario developer decided to put into their work. The scenario developer basically starts with a clean slate, some take good care in adding additional services, others don’t so how good a run is totally dependent on the developer. I know the timetable on WCML isn’t up to snuff inTSW5, but to say TSC’s WCML “ has all the traffic there that should be present” is a bit misleading for those not familiar with TSC. IF the scenario developer took the time to research the appropriate timetable for the date and put those services into their scenario then I would agree with you, but for the most part, that doesn’t happen. The other difference between the two programs is in TSC your route comes with usually 10 or less scenarios which once run, you are now left to creating your own, doing freeroam, or downloading scenarios from the workshop were the quality varies greatly author to author. Don’t get me wrong, I am an avid TSC users with a large catalog of routes and DLC . Was even a beta tester for a very prolific commercial scenario developer. But TSC does not have the ability to hop in, pick a service and run that service with all other configured services running on the route.
I should check the forum more! I've just spent a week starting to put together a new WCML timetable and now realised someone else is doing the same. Oh well, if the Editor actually gets fixed and lets you cook and pack things as they said it would (unless there's a workaround for the TSW5 one anyone knows of) I can release the current version and see if people would be interested in me developing it further. I've currently got the entire LNR schedule with correct formation numbers, coupling/uncoupling at Camden, MKC and Euston platforms, and am about halfway through testing a full LO 710 schedule, full Southern schedule including the old Hemel turnarounds. My spreadsheet of the full WTT for Avanti is complete so planning to cover all of those, and then on to freight. Happy to share it once complete if people would be interested, ahead of the 'enhancement pack' I'd seen mentioned.
Is there anyway the timetable can be improved for console players? I know console is severly limited on what can be done, yet I was wondering if someone could somehow create a good scenario to subscribe to with a good timetable of AI services shown.
If I remember right, something was said about cooking and packing in the TSW5 route editor being available.
I was talking about the scenarios and assumed everyone here, or the vast majority, would already know that TSC doesn't have a timetable mode! BUT it does have a scenario builder which TSW doesn't, so my point is valid because you can put all the traffic in TSC that you want. In addition the scenario builders tend to put plenty of ai traffic into their creations, erring on the heavy side from what I've seen. Certainly looks better than the WCMLS from what I've seen on here. At the end of the day if you are not happy with the ai traffic in a TSC scenario then you can create or edit your own, from the exact timetable if you wish, so yes that IS possible in TSC. The one I drove yesterday had Euston chockablock with traffic and frequent passes on the line as well, nothing like the TSW streams I watched.
I well understand how TSC works .. I was just letting everyone who might have been mislead by your statement that “all traffic that should be there is present” which it isn’t unless like I said the author placed it in. I do own both the TSC and the TSW WCML DLCs and like I stated in my original reply, it is hit or miss on how well the scenarios are written. While the DC side of the timetable needs improvement, the 390 runs I have made are definitely not void of traffic. Doing a 710 run coming out of Euston passed atleast 4 services between the first stop. Of course I am speaking from my experience directly, I am sure others runs might be less populated. I think you are mistaken about TSW not having a scenario builder since there are plenty of scenarios you can download. It might not be as robust as TSCs but it does have one.
The more the merrier I reckon. I'm really looking forward to your timetable, if you decide to continue that is. Edit: If there's anyone out there who wants to try a back-dated Timetable with silver/blue 350s, silver/red 390s and 313s on LO services I'll love them forever.
TSC has Quick Drive which if put together is decent in my eyes. Where it falls down is when DLC consists are associated with the route and vastly incorrect operating dates are inputted. I'm working on QDs for WCML North for 1990 and had a Black 5 on a coal train pass me. As the creator of the loco had put dates from the 1930s to 2050.
Floating concrete block inside the tracks, near ground signal TK1487. Between Bletchley and Milton Keynes stations.
And another large concrete block, stuck in the tracks just south of Cheddington station. This is really getting past a joke now... How does DTG even miss things like this? I can't be bothered to write anymore support tickets, it's a waste of time.
Rivet were one of the companies who were involved in making this route and therefore several on here are blaming them rather than DTG for some of its shortcomings and errors. A bit like me blaming my butcher for not checking the turkey he sold me is thoroughly cooked before carving it on Christmas day. I'll await puns based on "turkey" and "cooked" and award points accordingly.
I saw the time-lapse and loved what I saw. I do wonder what services will be present at such an early time in the morning which I believe was 1AM or something. Additionally, wonder what the breakdown of services will be for each loco? Class 142 will be interesting as well
Errr still nothing to see here move on Again!!! You will spend more time raising support tickets, than driving trains
I just watched a Joe Dobson stream on YouTube and if there was any doubt about me not buying WCMLS in TSW this has dispelled it. 0630 at Euston and the terminus is more or less empty! Typical of a certain DTG partner that just likes basically the player train parked up and not much else. I just saw the same scene at Edinburgh on FC. What I saw was not a simulation of the WCMLS today, rather a heavily diluted player run with minimal ai traffic.
I've reported these in the feedback thread (yesterday too actually). Hadn't spotted them before so wondered if something had changed.
Yes, but it does have a scenario builder… not as you claimed it didn’t. Look, I understand you like TSC better than TSW.. no problem , but let us at least be factual in your statements.
Well you should be factual in your statements too, you accused me of saying TSC has a timetable when I clearly didn't say anything of the sort, merely stated how much busier a scenario I played on TSC was compared to the streams I've watched of the TSW version. Pot calling the kettle black? I have tried the TSW scenario builder and it's very shallow compared to TSC. Why don't you build a TSW scenario for WCMLS and then show us all how you've managed to populate it with authentic ai traffic and stationary trains at Euston? You're doing it again; nowhere did I say I like TSC better than TSW, you're making it up as you go along. What I said was I much prefer WCMLS on TSC!
You can make as detailed a Scenario as you want in the editor. Including with more features than is possible in TSC, as the various DTG Scenarios show.
No I didn’t state that you said it had a timetable, but your statement could be construed it did by saying all the trains that should be there were present. Obviously for saying something should be included means comparing to a list or timetable for that period. All I stated was that TSC didn’t have a timetable mode. And as comparing run, I am coming from personal experience that the runs are not devoid of traffic as one would think from reading comments in this thread. Read the latest comments I. the pinned “Awesome TSW service mode runs” were several others have shared their experiences. I even stated that the scenario builder in TSW isn’t as robust as the one in TSC, but the fact remains TSW does have a scenario builder. Also I never claimed to be a scenario developer myself and to be honest, WCML TT isn’t so bad to make it unplayable, could it be better- most assuredly. And I am sure the excellent modders we have in this community will step up to the challenge.
Just played service 2D50 from Euston to Watford Junction. Quite enjoyed the drive and there was nothing glaringly wrong with the scenery (that I noticed anyway). However … I saw just two Bakerloo Line trains during the entire run. I saw just two mainline trains, a Class 377 and a Class 350. There may have been more, but I didn’t notice them at all. The route felt completely dead. I could hear trains opening and closing their doors at various stations, despite only my train being in the station. I scored 13,350 despite losing 227.5 points for speeding. Easily got a Platinum medal, which requires 11,350 points.
If you think that's bad, you should see the OHLE at Milton Keynes. The wires are stretched and warped so badly, that most of the droppers are slanted diagonally. It's quicker to list the things that aren't broken with this route right now.
There are sections of OLE on this route that look like they were done in TransportFever 2, after you put a junction in.
In the last big post for the small update today it was stated that no neutral sections or changes to the current timetable are planed...
Hear, hear, pretty disgusting customer service indeed. It looks like as for Fife Circle the modders will be the saviour of this route, at least on PC.
There’s a link to a previous Announcement detailing what is and isn’t currently committed. Until some movement on the timetable is made, Deluxe Edition is firmly off my radar. Plenty of back catalogue to work through.
Ah right. But isn't that post, which was written on September 10th, talking about what to expect at the launch of TSW5? I can't quite see how that has got twisted into "no... changes to the current timetable are plan[n]ed" [ever]. Or have I got the wrong post?
Sorry, it is... here is what it says: "We have prioritised the playable services available in the core route, however, at this time, making improvements to the volume of services in the timetable isn't something we can promise, so, in the interests of transparency, please consider the current timetable as final." that does not sound too good to me... but it is "old news". I confused the two threads.
Thanks for clarifying. I'm sure it will allow some to unclutch their pearls, at least for a couple of seconds.
Nevertheless, DTG could have taken the opportunity to update where adding neutral sections or buffing the timetable stand in the scheme of things.
Hey guys, been away for a bit, any word or further development on wcml, are DTG fixing, patching or is there any timetable out on when the timetable is going to get fixed?
