PC Wcmls Enhancement Pack | Update 10 Now Available

This was a thing through all of TSC history and it just carried on in TSW (atleast once there was the editor). Just rush out some kind of base route and the community will handle it. They know the business plan works! Only this time there are majority of console players, who are left out. That might cause uproar over time.

I can spot the differene straight away, because I´ve messed around with night lighting in TSC myself. Yards and sidings now have lights... because the creators can´t just place some lamps there in the first place. Same can be found on Frankfurt-Fulda in Offenbach Güterbahnhof. Also something that has been going on since early TSC days. Maybe you see a pattern: there are a bunch of things that they must be aware of and just leave out on purpose to save dev time. I can´t explain it any other way.

But there is one I really want DTG to fix in the default game: overexposed cabs. It´s kind of "gamebreaking" to me and seem like an easy fix. Has DTG even acknowledged this issue at any point somewhere? I think they just ignore it and never even talk about it.

 

There is a 3 position dimmer switch to the left of the headlight switch. It is off, dim, bright.

 

I’m getting even more excited for this mod now that I’ve watched the latest video. What a massive difference. With a new timetable and whatever else is being planned, it’s going to be excellent.

 

Just to clarify what this video is demonstrating (as I’m rather surprised some people have completely missed the point), it is to demonstrate the literally hundreds of hand placed light sources across the route that turn a black hole into a realistic looking approach into London.

Regrading the speedo, that is personal preference and set in GodMode on the fly. What you can’t see, because I had to cut the videos to fit on the one screen, is how bright the display to the left of the cab was as default. With the vanilla setting it is absolutely blinding at night, and I don’t believe there is an option to turn that down. All the interior cab lights are connected to the same setting, so making that screen bearable reduces the brightness of everything else. Maybe it’s a bit much but as I said, it is personal preference and exactly why the lighting mod no longer alters that parameter, leaving it default by design. Edited to add that I’d missed the fact that there was a dimming control. Now I know. However, the point about being able to control lighting yourself on the fly remains, and that the lighting mod leaves this setting as default for that very reason.

The headlights (through the separate mod) are still a WiP as stated on the mod page. Someone commented on the video saying it looked milky. To be clear, the weather was set to Custom - Light Clouds with fog set to 0.002 in God Mode. What you’re seeing there is the headlights reflecting off the mist (or ‘atmosphere’), something you can’t even see in the default game. The default lights are so unrealistically anaemic you can’t even see signs in front of you. However, I will take another look at them and try to generate a better balance, as well as fixing them not tilting with the train.

 

Didn't mean to slight the rest of the lighting, which looks AWESOME. I suppose I'm spoiled, because I've been using your lighting mod practically since the first version came out, and "JetWash' lighting looks fantastic" practically goes without saying.

I know the cab lighting didn’t look the best but making that video took about 3hrs, which I’d rather spend adding more to the route than redoing the video. Had the whole picture been visible it painted a different story but my bad, I wasn’t aware there was a way to dim everything through the controls.

As I’ve done a lot of night driving in the last week or two I’m going to look again at each route and better tune night-time. Once that’s done I’ll update the lighting mod.

What I can say is that right now I’m driving the 710, with announcements, on a service on the new timetable (which is already amazing, and will be epic when complete) looking at the new, route wide foliage laid by Bescot and am looking at a route transformed. It will be worth the wait.

 

Just one doubt...

With this new schedule, will all but almost the 350 have 8 cars?

 

All will at least 8 cars in the chosen timetable. There are some 12 cars in the AM peak. Only one 4 car which splits off a 12 car for the afternoon peak direct service from Euston to St Albans Abbey.

Once this pack is released it's going to be very very tempting to purchase WCMLS but I don't want to be rewarding DTG/Rivet full price on their efforts, I only want to pay half price for their half arsed effort, would rather pay 50% DTG and the other 50% to the modders!

I'll also have to wait for Goblin to come down at least 40%, that route does not interest me in the slightest and I'm not paying full price just for the 710.

 

Scorpion71 We are in the same boat. I didn't spend money for any TSW5 content yet, as nothing of it justifys full price. So I'm also waiting for a discounted sale (for TSW4 it took about 4 weeks) and I also keep an eye on the keyeller sites.

What JetWash presents here is more teasing then anyhing else related to the new TSW5 content.

 

‘Teasing’….what are you talking about? Jetwash and other modders are doing what they can to make this route decent. In fact, DTG should be doing/done what these guys are. Please do not accuse them of ‘teasing’. These guys work closely and their mods are integrated therefore they will always have access to each others mods before the general public. Just be patient and GRATEFUL please!

 

This does look like a great improvement.

I only bought FCL because of the timetable and foliage/scenery mods, DTG might get some extra sales of WCMLS now because of this mod.

I think that you completely misunderstood my post.

In this context, 'teasing' means that I find it more appealing to spend money on TSW5 because of what Jetwash and others are contributing to the community, rather than anything DTG has done with TSW5. So we share the same view: blame DTG for half-baked products, and appreciate people like Jetwash and others for the great work, time, and effort they are putting into this

And I'm very sure that I didn't accuse Jetwash or anyone else in that regard.

I can give an example of how their work led to my buying a route I was avoiding, Fife Circle. Look at it now with their timetable and other mods. It is actually nice to drive, no thanks to Rivet. So, based on this, WCML is going to be a real corker to drive.

Things are coming on nicely. I’ve managed to fix the headlight of the 390 and, having started again from scratch, have fixed the issue in the stock unit that meant the night headlight disappeared entirely when the unit tilted, particularly to the right. I’m just trying to improve the look of the taillights then will upload that fix.

Poor old Fawx is ripping his hair out at the moment as something inexplicable appears to have caused issues with previous timetables (Fife in particular). It works perfectly in TSW4, not so in TSW5. However, when he’s ready I’ll share a vid of the new timetable demonstrating the hour long 710 services and the night lighting from the DC lines. Following that we’ll do a day run showing off the new foliage and more of the TT.

After smashing my face against the keyboard for a few hours tonight I have managed to fix the Fife Circle Issue, some kind of Addon Manager hiccup was preventing the 158 from loading. I should have an update out tomorrow hopefully, then I'm getting back to working on WCML.

JetWash, with the newest Pendolino pack, do you need to delete the earlier ones. Right now I have 4 different ones installed.

 

Pretty sure you should only ever have the latest one, that's what I've got at least.

 

I delete all older ones before installing the latest version. I only ever keep one version active.

 

The latest version 6 has more subdued cab sounds with the emphasis on track sounds at high speed as it is in RL. It does make the AWS and Vigilance alarms more audible. My post on ItsYa165 390 page has an exert from a RL video of the 390.

 

I thought that would be a given. You should only ever have the latest version of any mod installed!

I keep the filenames the same so my mods should override each other. If you’re talking about It’sYa165 sound mod then you should definitely only ever have one version installed. It’ll be causing merry hell if you have 4 different ones on the go at the same time.

 

Just took the Pendolino for a run and am really loving the new cab sounds. The alerter and AWS are now loud. Again, thank you JetWash.

 

Just to be clear, that isn’t me. That’s ItsYa165 sound mod you’re thinking of. I wish I had even the faintest idea how to make the mods he’s made!

 

Hello all, seeing as I am indeed part of the WCML collab, I thought I'd share a couple of screenshots of what I've been working on for this new EP.

I have currently focused my efforts on the southern portion of the WCML specifically the Harrow & Wealdstone to Queens Park section as I feel it's the most lacking part of the entire route.

In will split this into different posts as otherwise it would simply be too big to post everything I've done so far in one go.

First off here's Wembley Central Station:

And new "cladded" textures for the high speed platforms.

I've probably spent the MOST amount of time on this one station alone because of how utterly poor it is.

Congratulations DTG, the love and care of the modding community has bailed you out again.

 

Honestly seeing the quality so far it definitely feels like DTG should be reaching out to make the EP an official thing for everyone.

 

With all this work by our mod teams on what are, at best, lack luster routes, it almost seems that DTG puts these routes out knowing full well that they will be brought up to snuff by the mods teams. So why do that work themselves.

Also in addition to SprattyHeaths modelling, we so far completed:

• Enhanced night time scene by adding many more light sources throughout the route
• Improved (and mended) lights on the Class 390 Pendolino
• Improved lights on the LU 72 stock
• Added at least half to two thirds as much clutter again to the route
• Added trackside and yard workers
• Added much more graffiti
• Added custom Class 710 stop markers (built from Goblin Line assets)
• Added custom LU car overrun signs
• Added and significantly enhanced foliage and grass across the whole route
• Significantly enhanced Class 350 with revised PIS, fully branded interior and exterior, seating moquette replaced
• Fixed light baking inside Queen's Park North and South sheds
• Added light sources to non functional trackside junction light units
• Somewhat fixed passenger spawning, alighting and boarding behaviour at Euston
• Swapped the Rivet map 'collectable, to a London Connections map

Great stuff you guys! When you watch cab ride videos you really notice the weeds and vegetation on and around the track area.

 

Further to Bescot’s post, as promised two more demo runs. The first is daytime showing the extra foliage and clutter from the mainline;

Both of these are using the new TT, which as of today is up to about 550 genuine services. The default TT has just over 600, but a number of those are single services that are split. Thus far I think the Class 710 is all but complete, the 390 and 350 are still WiP, and freight, Underground, static stock and a couple of surprises are yet to be started. If I’ve got any of that wrong I’m sure Fawx can steer me right!
