i know some people think this thread is worthless. but this thread is for opinions. I really friking hate people when they just take this as an argument when I literally wrote a text that stands this not a troll post or an argument.

The main title says "which is the worst?" but in the post it says "which is better and worst"?
That implies a ranking of 1-3, which the poll doesn't do.
If you just mean "worst" then you are missing a LOT of bad routes. I don't think the "worst" is in your list.

Rapid Transit, Cane Creek, Koln, Osten, Isle of Wight, Birmingham Cross-City.....

I know, your favorite might be in there, but it's an opinion poll *shrugs*

yeah for some routes i really cant decide which is better or worse. It's a route and all have their own feature

Yeah and it's personal preference. Outside of actual "bugs" where it won't load or something... it's up to personal opinion and what you're looking for. Two people can have a very different impression of the same route.

I disagree with those routes being the worst ones, at least partly.

• Rapid Transit is old and the outside scenery is pretty poor, but the lighting is better than modern TSW routes (at least from memory) and the underground stations were really well done.
• Cane Creek is the strongest contender for worst route from your list, but the route can look stunning at certain points.
• I'm not really sure what's wrong with Koln Aachen and Rhein Ruhr Osten.
• The Isle of Wight is mediocre but is too inoffensive to be considered the worst route in my mind. The 483 isn't great but it is very nice to look at so that's something going in its favour.
• I'm not really sure what's so wrong with the Cross City Line either. It can feel a bit empty but I don't think that's enough of a reason for it to be considered the worst route. The 323 is quite decent, and one of the few times were the TSW version holds up to the TS equivalent.

I think for a route to be considered the worst route it needs to be irredeemable. It has to have bad lighting, bad scenery, bad trains, a bad timetable, and not add much to the game as a whole. I'd like to re-vote for NEC New York, because I think it is one of the only irredeemable TSW routes.

No, to be the worst to me it has to be one I'd enjoy the least.
As I said, it's a personal opinion so of course we're going to disagree. Defending them as something fun for you isn't really proving anything except that we have different preferences in the game.

I never said anything was "wrong" or broken on the routes. The original post never made that a condition.
It doesn't say "irredeemable" either.

The definition is "least desirable" which is a personal opinion.

If the OP wants more detailed analysis, then they would have to be more specific.
For example "which route has the worst lighting?" or "which route has the best options for freight traffic"?

 

OK, so there's now a poll. But for some reason, it's biased towards four different routes the OP hated.

Where's the option for 'Other'? How can someone like me vote for the worst route with the limited options given, as I haven't even touched any of the routes that are in the poll (AVL I got with TSW4 and never used and LGV I got purely for the TGV layer on SEHS).

That makes the poll useless.

 

There's an option to "let respondents add their own" in the poll creator isn't there?

I think that the OP should add some other random routes to the poll, maybe some that don't exist (yet) or some totally fictional CCL, WOS (or PRC?), SZG, CMH (Copenhagen-Malmö-Helsingborg via Västkustbanan with X31K), HCL (Helsinki Commuter Lines with Flirt), BZC (Bahnstrecke Zürich-Chur with Re460), TWŁ (Trasa Warszawa-Łódz - try to pronounce it!), IOS (explanation not needed). Edit: sorry, forgot NTA route.

 

Worst route has to be this one.

 

I picked Arosa because it is the least played route from the list.

Honestly I think Cane Creek is the worst route in the game.

If the OP thinks TGV is boring what about WSR. Slow straight and short.

My personal least favourite is Cross City, it's so quiet, no layers to speak off (apart from a few freight), Birmingham New Street despite being one of the busiest stations in the UK is empty. It's my least played route.

It does, and not layering them when TSW5 was released was a mistake in my opinion.

 

Also a route of two halves. Scenery north of New Street was quite well executed, but to the south west you have the missing fencing along the canal section, the canal itself was broken in places. Scenery on the Redditch branch which harked back to the old MSTS way of just plonking random trees on the green terrain texture. Service wise got very tedious as little variation in stopping pattern with a full run Lichfield to Redditch or Bromsgrove taking nearly 90 minutes. The 323 was well done, admittedly and of course now a bit of history too.

I agree stupid not having the pendalino and 350 put on the route would be nice in the future for it to have a remaster and both get included on the route

WCL is the worst the route is sub par

 

The only reason that's not my least favourite is because of the St Ives branch. I love trundling up and down that.

 

I feel like its well selling was due to it being the first french route a d most importantly, it was free for a month for anyone/ everyone so most people picked it up then.

Because I can blame Rivet Games AND DTG for making rubbish at the same time. (Thwacking 2 birds with 1 stone is always nice).

Honestly though, every time I play this route I find a new bug or something else broken within 15 minutes of starting a timetable service. Today I found the side of my class 350 clipping almost halfway through a tunnel wall... So that's another one for the endless list.

 

Imagine how brilliant it would be if it was given the West Somerset treatment
