When spawning on foot is there any way you can get rid of the compass on the right corner of the screen

 

No.

 

If you have a keyboard plugged in, you can press Ctrl+5 to remove it.

 

Do we have a lantern or flashlight to find our way in the dark? Otherwise, a compass might come in handy to prevent you from wandering in circles and get run over by a train?

 

Right on d-pad for those on console.

Not sure on the PC equivalent.

 

Have you tried pressing and holding the menu button?
