Welcome to the Unofficial Screenshot Competition. This is a fun and friendly alternative to the official Screenshot Competition run by DTG. Here you can share your weekly themed TSC screenshots using any 3rd party / post shot editing etc. creations which are not allowed in the official competition. Rules: TSC only shots allowed. Screenshot should be in some way (can be very tenuous) linked to the theme. Otherwise anything goes. You can enter up to 3 screenshots, posted as separate posts. You can delete and replace if you wish. 3rd party content / Reshades / Reskins etc. are welcomed but are not mandatory. Previous week's winner to decide winner (can't enter themselves). The winner chooses the new theme for next week (and becomes the new judge). The Judge of the week's decision is final. We strongly discourage any negative comment or criticism of another entry by a fellow contributor, this is a light hearted & fun contest! This is a major "we are all friendly" thread and we hope it will always remain so. Please keep chat to an absolute minimum. Entries will close at 9PM GMT on Friday, October 11th 2024 and will be judged by me - TrainsAreBest. In the event of this weeks winner not responding by 17:00 on October 14th, 2024 a new thread will be created using the results of this weeks poll. The theme for this week is: Red for Danger.
1889 in Wyoming the first signaling comes into being. The red ball low for stop and hold. The red ball high for proceed. Hence the term High Ball. Sometimes added was a red lantern hung near the red ball for night signaling.
The danger foretold by these signals is obvious as a manifest led by an SP AC4400CW speeds through the west end of Princeton siding
Red flag on the line in advance of a PW party doing some re-ballasting, just South of Huntingdon North signal box on the ECML. A B2 (Earlham Hall) passes on the up-fast with a short local ex-Peterborough.
Well.... I think you need to brush up on your UK signal knowledge. https://www.hitachirail.com/blog/2023/how-does-train-signalling-work/
EMR Regional 158773, heading for Lincoln, is held at a red just north of Newark on the MML, whilst LNER Azuma 800106 blasts it's way over the diamond crossing on the ECML heading north.

Great shots mate but just letting you know this is a TSC screenshot competition thread; not a TSW screenshot competition thread! Also apologies if I don’t get my submissions in; been a busy week and I will be going to volunteer at a local heritage railway when I wake up in the morning so may miss out on posting up some screenshots but hopefully I’ll sneak a few in last minute.
The fact you travel a lot does not mean you have an understanding of other countries signalling systems. UK, Austria, Switzerland, Germany etc. Maybe consider this before posting Well...???? and criticising details of a competitor's contribution in a screenshots competition you do not even partake in. P.S. May I also question why you always click on the spanner "Helpful" icon as opposed to the tick "Like" Icon when viewing a posted screenshot, or any other post come to that? Using the spanner "Helpful" icon is normally only used for identifying useful information to share with other fellow forum members. The "Like" tick icon is the one you should be using. Regards
OK folks, the judging panel have met and are ready to announce their decision. In third place is mfeets with his very pleasing panoramic shot. In second place is Craigie-C with his dream like view of the East Midlands countryside: In first place is cunningham#3154 with his strong interpretation of the theme: Well done cunningham#3154, over to you for next week. Commiserations to the others. It was hard to judge, as there were many other strong contenders.
Congratulations to the winners!! As you post I was actually writing out my last minute submissions but looks like I was just too late!! Looking forward to next week.
Sorry about that Blazin, but even if you had posted them they would have been outside the closing time, and likely to have been disqualified.
Thanks folks. Personally I liked Craigie-C's shots of the flat crossing - wish I'd thought of that! I'll set the next comp a bit later today if that's ok with everyone.
