    About
Donner Pass is a 7,056-foot-high (2,151 m) mountain pass in the northern Sierra Nevada, above Donner Lake and Donner Memorial State Park about 9 miles (14 km) west of Truckee, California. Like the Sierra Nevada mountains themselves, the pass has a steep approach from the east and a gradual approach from the west. In the spring of 1868, the Sierra Nevada were finally "conquered" by the mainly Chinese laborers of the Central Pacific Railroad (CPRR), after almost three years of sustained drilling and blasting through granite, with the successful completion at Donner Pass of its 1,659-foot (506 m) Tunnel #6 (a.k.a. the Summit Tunnel) and associated grade, thus permitting the establishment of commercial transportation en masse of passengers and freight over the Sierra for the first time. Following a route first surveyed and proposed by CPRR's original Chief Engineer, Theodore D. Judah (1826–1863), the construction of the four tunnels, several miles of snowsheds, and a hand-crafted stone retaining wall 75-foot tall (a.k.a. Chinese or China Wall in recognition of the Chinese builders) necessary to breach Donner Summit constituted the most difficult engineering and construction challenge of the original Sacramento–Ogden CPRR route.
I am proposing the section between Roseville and Reno with a total track length of around 213.9 km (132 mi)

NGL, Donner would be a boring TSW route. A-B, minor yard stuff, no industries.

And I doubt DTG would even bother with the snow stuff.

    Big pass from me.

I’ve played Donner in MSTS, TSC and Run 8 and have to concur, despite the scenery it’s a bit boring. Not to mention rather long for a TSW route with only one save slot in the cupboard.

And what part of DTG hiatus on US freight railroading does the OP still not get? No access for research, no assistance from the train company and quite possibly a “cease and desist” if DTG went ahead and tried to do it anyway based off external research.

I will damn well make whatever suggestion I want. I can perfectly understand that dtg are currently not making us freight, I personally would find it interesting over something like Cajon Pass as its not just in some desert. or am I not allowed to make suggestions of thing I want.

Not quite a cease and desist, but more like the US freight community would point out every error that DTG would make on the route, and I'm not exaggerating.

But, its literally just a forest, and in the grand scheme of things for DTG in the LAMP process, it probably wont sell well. Even an interesting route like Clinchfield didn't sell well so......

I understand that, I personally would enjoy the challenge of the mountain terrain over something flat, but I do believe having variety is an important thing though. Am also just getting sick of only having US commuter routes as I find them quite boring. Can always have a 3rd party do it as I would imagine that they would also look through this for ideas.

Calm down old chap, not saying you can’t. But it just seems a bit pointless when DTG aren’t entertaining the concept any more. There’s a few US and Canadian routes I’d like to see (Denver up the D&RGW, the Shasta route from TSC or Kicking Horse Pass) plus numerous UK steam era routes (Somerset and Dorset) but personally don’t see much point in bothering to put in for them.

Add an Amtrak California Zephyr consist with P32-8BWHs (Pepsi Cans!) P42DCs and/or Siemens ALC-42 Chargers (preferably the ALC-42s). I would love this route to be set in the steam era with SP's massive, unique AC-Series Cab Forward 4-8-8-2s. Perhaps an SP GP60, SD45X, SD45, SD45T-2, SD40T-2, AC4400CW, C44-9W, GP38-2, GP40-2, SD38-2, and/or SD9E could be included with an SP version of this route.

Would prefer to see this in sp diesel era but with DTG only doing modern stuff this would have to be better than nothing I would hope that this would come with at least the EMD SD60M and GE C44ACM in base and a sort of engineering pack with the flanger, spreader and roatry snow plow. Could also do a sp diesel era pack with 1 high hood (SD7 or SD9), 1 tunnel motor and one widecab. Could also do a SP steam pack with a few different generations of the cab-fowards.

unfortunately these thing s will probably never see the light of day in TSW ..if you want some of this stuff and have access to a PC Train Sim Classic is the place they have Donner Pass route .Shasta Route and they do have a Cab Forward steam loco Dlc available..they also have lots of US Canadian Routes and loco DLC available. Its a older franchise and not as pretty graphics of TSW ..but you get longer routes freight switching ,steam diesel electrics old to modern era..also there is some not perfect stuff in TSC but each train simulator game has its perks and quirks but i do find some enjoying things from all 3 of those i play right now,,

And Donner Pass in Run 8 is pug ugly. They just used pretty much the same green texture all the way through, even on the mountain section.
