I Propose a portion of the Chiltern Mainline:

I feel like this is a forgotten route, it has vast variety of fast and stopping services including the Wycombe stoppers, a nice short return trip. The route itself is interesting, not to long between stations but does have the express services the keep things interesting.
    upload_2024-10-11_6-16-19.jpeg
    Route options:
    1) Marylebone - Banbury - Oxford
    2) Marylebone - Aylesbury Vale (via Met)
    3) Marylebone - Aylesbury (via Mainline + branch)

    Rolling stock:
    165
    - upload_2024-10-11_6-16-56.jpeg
We already have the 166, a small cab update and re skin
    168/2/3 -
We have the 170 in game, a small tweak and cab upgrade and Re Skin
    68 Mk3’s DVT - upload_2024-10-11_6-19-35.jpeg
    upload_2024-10-11_6-19-47.jpeg
This is a monumental ask! But could be a possibility in the future for add on packs.

    168/0
    - Another big Ask! Again could be a possibility for future add on packs.

One downside is south of Banbury it is DOO (excluding Mk3’s) so the implementation of guard mode would not be included.

I think this would be a great addition to the game, length wise I believe it’s reasonable including the amount of stations.
We already have the bases of two rolling stock so would not need these to be built from scratch. Overall I think this route would be achievable within TSW 5.

The Class 68 is a must for this route, I can't imagine the Chiltern Main Line without it.

If we were to get the Class 165/0, I believe it would be wise to do the 165/1 for GWE at the same time. This would be slightly more than a reskinned 166 though as there are a handful of differences, hence the numbering.
The 68 is long overdue and this, or the 67, could likely be used elsewhere, for example on Fife Circle.
Chiltern Mainline is the often overlooked mainline out of London.

    Definitely option 1.

Id love to have the route via metropolitan line then in Marylebone.

Id love to see a metropolitan line DLC featuring that particular line into Marylebone however withtno metropolitan line DLC I'd have to say Banbury & Oxford

Definitely an interesting route to me; I've always thought the Class 68s are dog ugly but they're certainly a mainstay locomotive.

The 165s have very different fronts below the windows and the valance, the side windows and roofs have been modified since air conditioning was fitted throughout, there are also no yaw dampers for running at over 75mph and they're fitted with tripcock equipment to permit operation over the MET line.

Simplify matters, go back to 1983 and do it with Class 115 DMU’s! Otherwise you are potentially looking for at least four new trains depending on the section modelled - Class 165, 168, 68 and coaches plus the Met Line S stock.

But seriously this would be a good, if complex, network to tackle at least some of the route regardless of era.

Semaphores and the associated legacy track layouts wouldn't make it that simple, but similarly from 1991 to 1997 you've got a simple period with just the Class 165 needing adaption/modelling from the 166, whereas a Class 115 is nothing like the only first gen DMU we have, the Class 101. Almost no track due to some good late BR vandalism in the name of 'efficiency'.

Class 68 is a dream for me as far as british railway goes. I'd 100% buy this if they added it.

Go even further back to 1960 and you'll have GCML expresses and whatnot ;)

Seriously though, I'd love to see more modern diesel routes, and this fits the bill perfectly. Has to have a 68 regardless of anything imo as it is one of the last strongholds of loco hauled passenger trains in the UK, and one simply cannot exclude that!

Would be great to see another modern day diesel route, I think for next UK DLC its between this and something Anglian.

    That would be great.

It could be a manageable project to do when thinking about it in terms of the trains.

I'm not a massive expert on the actual details of each train so I don't know what would need to be done to make them accurate.

165 can be reworked from the GWR 166
170 can be reworked from the SR 170, maybe the 168 as well? You'll need to model the new face for the earlier batch of 168s but I remember some 168s looking like the 170s.

JT have made some proper MK3As, or we could use the HST MK3s and remodel the appropriately with the different doors, so all that really needs doing fully would be the 68 and MK3 DVT. If needed I wouldn't mind seeing it released in a similar manner to the 390, where it is a separate DLC as even without it you still have a decent variety of trains (and who says we can't use the other trains as stand ins in the TT while the 68 isn't present).

I think the variety on this route would be amazing, especially in Rush hour with the Ruislip and Wycombe shuttles.

I’d love it to include the branch lines from Risborough to Aylesbury for the freight runs and the branch to Oxford, even the Chinnor Steam Railway would add even more variety.

If this route comes it would definitely need the 68, but I’d also love to see it set in the era of the bubble car running the PRR - AYS shuttle.

I don’t know a single thing that goes into making a route so all this could be ridiculously ambitious but I 100% see potential and a market for it as it is a route with something for everyone

I think it would pair beautifully if they were to recreate the Metropolitan Line

Annoyingly, if we go the Aylesbury via the Met route then it wouldn’t make sense without the Met and Jubilee Underground stock, playable or just ai. Would it then become to complex to make, especially with the stock variety, or have DTG shown with the WCMLS that they can and will attempt complexity with mixed traffic and multiple ‘new’ trains?

The mainline (High Wycombe) route, up to Banbury (and possibly the connection to Aylesbury) from Marylebone, with just ai tube stock added from existing tube trains would be more linear, but more plausible with the multiple trains that would fill up Marylebone and take up more development.

Both? That would surely be a third-party undertaking only..

This would be an awesome route. Isn't there a Chiltern branch that stops at Didcot? I seem to remember that Chiltern had a Green 121 in their stock, not sure if they still have it but would be great to have it in TSW.

    No Didcot branch.
The last bubble car was stood down in 2017, sadly.

Wow, did they remove it? I could of sworn. It is criminal we have not got a 'Bubble car' in TSW or even a Deltic. Shame really.
