I've been intrigued by the recent and older gameplay packs but still havent purchased yet. I'm not sure what's good, what's bad, or what's worth waiting until a sale occurs. Just wanted some insight from others who own or have seen reviews of it. Thanks :)

Buy everything that aligns with your specific railway interests after reading the descriptions

Anything older than 9 months will be discounted at some point, some earlier than that

Some gameplay packs actually add something and a lot of it

As many have already stated, if your willing to pay the price, some of these, despite reusing older existing rolling stock, can definitely add to the game’s lively feel, the Cargo Line series adds a lot of freight to GWE & MML, and others, such as Engineering Express, add some novelty features, Air Braked Seacows, DRS & ONE Liveries for the Class 66, plus Dellner couplings for these variants of Class 66, (which also have small details such as LED Headlights/Tailights & different windows for the ONE 66.) plus compatibility with the RHTT. But as many have stated lots of them are just reskins or new layers for an existing Timetable (although Diesel Legends of GW features a 1970s timetable for GWE, plus BR Blue Westerns.) so I would wait for a sale if you want them, but some are not bad if you ask me.

I´m suprised no payware producer has gotten in the business of making entire timetables for existing routes. Maybe along with some new rolling stock to go with it.

Which gameplay packs have intrigued you the most? I have all of the cargo line packs and they are excellent additions, well worth the 10 quid, even after my initial scepticism.

I was also considering the cargo line packages. I've seen that they are primarily for MML, SEHS, and GWE. Also the cargo line packages add freight traffic to MML which is nonexistent without said package correct?

I can see the appeal but I know when this was done for MSTS (payware activity packs), there was a lot of resistance to paying for something that was basically just put together with the user tools. Now obviously we know there is a massive amount of work involved in creating a timetable for TSW so I think it would very much depend on how good the end product was. And I do believe if DTG put a better front end on timetable creation, i.e. not having to go through the UE based editor, we might see more from the community having a go at doing freeware timetables.

The reason why making timetables for TSW is so complex is because they're 24 hours long and basically every train is playable, so you've got to do things properly that you could just fudge in a two-hour scenario with one playable train. That's all inherent to the concept of Service Mode Timetables, no matter what software you use to make it.

I was sceptical about the interface as well before I started making timetables, but once I started using it, I got used to it very quickly. The interface really isn't what makes making timetables difficult.

TSC has loads of payware scenario packs... I don´t use them, but there seems to be enough people buying them. Even now people are still making them.

Many want an experience that works "out of the box" without needing to install additional 3rd party stuff. Personally, I don't give a penny if the freight I'm hauling is Kuju or vR.

I love the concept and am hoping for more. There are so many possibilities for alternative timetables, like retro packs and such.

Looking forward to the Santa Fe pack from the roadmap. Ever since we got the Santa Fe F7, I was hoping for a full Santa Fe experience.

Would also love a Chessie System pack for Sand Patch.

Unfortunately, Cargo Line Aggregates only add two scenarios to SEHS, no services. As for MML, I purchased that and both Cargo Lines at the same time, so I’m afraid I can’t answer.

I haven't really used them on SEHS or GWE, but in my opinion they are worth the money for what they just add to MML. If you had to decide between one of them, aggregates adds more, but even the first pack is good too.

In the below images, the grey tanker is the 1970s TEA, the Green and Blue are the modern ones.

In the below images, the red hopper is the Great Western Express HKA, the grey ones are the Mendip Rail HOA with the Tarmac HOA below.

When I was mentioning reusing old assets, I was referring to the Regional Railway Class 323 & Silver 72 Stock, they are both reskins whereas Cargo Line Vol 1 uses a modernised TEA & the HOA in Vol 2 is a completely new wagon.
