The Grand Trunk Western's Northerns (or Confederations as they were called on the GTW) were some of the most powerful, and fastest locomotives on the GTW system. The U3 design originally came from Canadian National in the ate 30s and early 40s, and was later adapted for usage on CN's American subsidiary railroads, primarily Grand Trunk Western. They U3B's were built by Alco during the early 1940s for fast freight and commuter passenger trains between Detroit and Chicago. These 4-8-4s quickly became favorites among crews and railfans alike and were used well throughout the 1950s, as GTW elected to hold onto steam longer than most other railroads at the time. In the late 50s, the GTW decided to use 2 U3Bs on their last regularly scheduled passenger train, locomotives 6319 and 6322. In addition, they decided to keep locomotive 6323 for use on fan trip specials throughout the 1960s. 6323 is one of only 2 surviving U3B locomotives, the other being the much more well known 6325. 6325 was restored to operation and was used for special trips on the Ohio Central Railroad in Sugarcreek, Ohio from 2001 to 2005. Today 6325 sits on display in the Age of Steam Roundhouse in Sugarcreek, while 6323 is on display at the Illinois Railroad Museum in rather sad condition. I believe that the U3B would make for a great addition to TS as it's a fast, and powerful mixed traffic engine that could be fun for everyone. If the locomotive were to be added, it should come with a route, perhaps one going from Detroit to Durand, Michigan, as well as some boxcars and some heavyweight passenger cars. Anyways, what do you guys think? Is this a good idea?

i love the GTW there is just something about the GTW blue paint that makes me buy model train cars in that color so I'm totally in support of this steamer getting made.

Let's have some videos of 6325 shall we? Note the Pennsy 3 chime off of a T-1 in that third video.
