How do I stop the AI kicking me out to the drivers seat as soon as the service ends? I used to get the message alight here allowing me to shut down the cab as I would in the real world before getting out of the train, now as soon as the service ends I'm immediately booted out of the drivers seat, and on the GWE the AI will start driving the train before I've had a chance to get of the train and onto the platform. It's so annoying
I wish there was a takeover prompt in the game that would allow for AI drivers to take over only if a button is prompt kinda like Bus Simulator 21
I remember that it always used to do that.. however you had a much longer time to shut off the cab and do whatever else before the AI driver takes over. Now, it just does it almost 10 seconds after the service end.
Been this way since the beginning. On GWE, NTP and TVL you always used to get catapulted out of the driver's seat.
I suspect it's just a matter of how soon the AI service is set to start after the end of the player service (as well as how late you arrive!).
I have to say on the East Coastway in TSW3, Ive never had this issue. The service ends, then the option to continue in free roam is presented and selected, then it resumes with me still in seat able to shutdown or do whatever, grab my coat then disembark. It does sound an absolutely anticlimactic conclusion to the service to be unceremoniously teleported off the train..
It probably depends on how soon after your service ends the following service starts. If it's an immediate departure then that's maybe why you'll get booted out?
That was always the problem on Glossop if you wanted to take over the little shuttle service after terminating. The only way to do it was to key out and change ends to the other cab before releasing the doors so then you could immediately take over once the run finished and you hit the free roam option, returning to sat where you needed to be.
Is this a new issue? I ask because Ive seriously never come across it in TSW3 although I exclusively play the East Coastway route because I play Hudless and cannot be assed to learn another route yet. In all my service runs I get to the terminus, let everyone off, the service ends, I continue in free roam, key out and change ends, wait for the time to pass to the return run, begin the next service. Never been an issue and if its an issue in TSW4 and beyond, I want no part of it.
I get this on ECML a lot. I finish a run at Doncaster or Peterborough, a few minutes early, but the second the train stops and I open the doors, the AI driver suddenly appears. Kind of annoying.
I've just realised that the reason this has started happening is that a mod i have installed called Foob_PortalInstruction has broken with the release of TSW5, as this mod is now a few years old i doubt it will ever be updated. I cant play this game like this, being booted out of the drivers seat as soon as ive stopped the train and then trying to get out of a moving train because the AI has stated driving it is not my idea of fun. Service 4L58 Bristol to Felixstowe, a lovely relaxing run ruined in the last 30 seconds because i was unable to exit the train. I was intending to ride the 166 to Paddington and drive a HST back to Reading. but i was stuck on a moving train unable to get out so i was kicked back to the main menu once the train had got out of bounds. no word from DTG on whether this is a bug or a 'working as intended', it wouldn't surprise me if someone at DTG towers thought this would be a good idea. but if it is a bug I wont hold my breath on it being fixed before the release of TSW 7 I've been playing TSW since the release of CSX heavy haul and started playing trains with railworks 2 and for the first time i dont feel like playing it any more. Its a shame because i was looking forward to the Just Trains route.
If it’s a mod which is causing the issue happening on all services for then it’s not the responsibility of DTG to fix. But as others have mentioned some services the AI need to takeover immediately more so if you are had a late arrival. Whilst not ideal on busy routes there’s probably a need for the AI to depart pronto so not to hold up the next service into the platform. Perhaps it might be better if it were to catapult you on to platform if that is even possible?
TSW5 was on played at launch as a clean install I only installed my TSW3 mod in the hope it would stop be being booted out and it didn't so ive gone back to a clean install. as this is a freight service it doesn't have timings and as im following a 166 service my speed is regulated my the signals so can't drive any faster, In TSW2 stepping out of the train would trigger the AI to take over and start driving the train, so what changed?
Can't say I've ever had it physically kick me out of the seat, but as the people above have stated it's probably due to being late. What I do hate though, is when I finish a Service and go to change Ends to run the return trip, and the AI jump in and start touching my buttons.
