Its not possible to do, cooked levels cannot be added onto track wise.

Lots of tracked laid and much more to do.

The reason I've added Knottingley is due this where the route from Drax Power Station follows down towards Doncaster, and I wasn't in the mood to deal with portals due to the track from Drax crosses over the highspeed lines.

Drax Powerstation won't be accessible atm, it could be added later on.

Most tracks are now laid, working on gradients and marking stations very soon.
I think stockbridge was a bit annoying to work on as the google imagery is very bad in the area.

Great work! I don't want to add to your workload... ok, I DO want to add to your workload! Ferrybridge - Monk Fryston (Gascoigne Wood) - Church Fenton and the lines from York and Selby to Leeds... :D

Do you know roughly how many miles of track you have now?
It took me about 4 and a half months to do around 17.5 to 18 miles of track for my route

I do not expect anything displayed in here to be released ever, nevertheless it's an interesting read, and I have much respect for the people fighting with this "editor".

The issue is people did not follow Matt's advice to start with a simple small scale project, which will give you a) a rewarding first success experience, and b) learning from mistakes you've made for your next project.

I’m still thinking about what i might cut back on.

I just need to take a break right now, it’s doable and i’m still going to be mainly working on the doncaster to sheffield portion as that’s the most worked on section atm.

And this is just a fun project for me to work on gradually.

Hey, keep doing what you're doing. We're not here to tell you anything. The best thing that could happen (besides from editor fixes) would be to find a team. When it comes to scenery, you'll see you will spend ages. DTG said route development takes 55 people about 6 months for them (asset building included). So making a large route on your own could take almost half of your lifetime...

Just need to fix some markers and timetable issues due to reverting back.

Now york is still something that is still on my mind, and extending the route up to adwick and kirk sandall would be doable.

So Dore and Totley gradients and signals are sorted (still need to do some research on the area as it has recently changed which the earth data isn't showing yet.)

Darnall and Woodhouse gradients have just been sorted and signals will be placed shortly in this area.

Stockbridge section will be the next area to get its gradients done.
And then bolton-upon-dearne and then the doncaster north area and the track down from kirk sadall.
    -

So York is still on the table, there's a possiblity I may generate the landscape data for that section of the route and place track down with a custom sign or barrier like hologram stating everything past that area is wip aka future project~

Looks great, routing for this to become official still as id love to have home turf in game! I agree cutting back to a smaller route is a good option for now. But looks amazing non the less!

York shouldn't be to much of a problem to add the landscape and track, its the scenery that'll be a pain to work on.

I've been looking into the destinations of rivet products as part of my attempt to reskin the 484 into a 230. At it seems like the destinations are saved in a texture like a bus blind. I'm hoping that the texture can be changed (within the mapping of the original texture) to change the destinations. CnP_19102024_210501.png

Update: Gradients north of Doncaster have been applied, may need to do adjustments later on after some test runs, signals and equipment are being placed along the Doncaster to York and Doncaster to Thorne.

Progress was slow due to the gradients being awkward todo.

Final area to work on graident data will be from Swinton to Thurnscoe and I'll then place the singals and sort the super-elevation.
    -

Note: Gradients won't be 100% accurate to reallife as I'm only going off the lidar data. (I don't have the patience to qgis all the gradient data.)

Also working with limited quality imagery too in some areas.

    Whyyyyyy :(

Edit: Actually, It's probably because the 484 uses a roller blind as well. Thought you were talking about the 170, which has a similar issue.

I was messing with the 484 for Marston Vale reasons and I'm assuming the same way Rivet set up the Dot Matrix displays on the 170 is the same as the 484 as the exterior/interior displays look the same on the 170 & 484 (because the interior and exterior screens share the same texture)

Signal progress marked in red, gradient data just needs cleaning up in the bolton-upon-dearne to thurnscoe and signal placing.

York Route section progress, this area will only receive track related progress and landscape tile generation and markers.
Buildings, Foliage and texture related content won't be made until the south yorkshire section is much more progressed.

The area will be accessible, but a sign will indicate the area is for future project.

If you make a new texture in blender, you should be able to unwrap the destinations to which one you want. At least I presume that how it has been done.

It requires a bit more than just changing the texture, there's a few things that'd need to be modified to have everything display correctly. Right now that is not on my list of things to do right now, I want to get the track laid, signals and equiptment working and timetable in working order before I go onto the more complex stuff.

    upload_2024-10-25_19-52-2.png

currently placing portals west of selby, three tracks branch out.
need to place track that goes under the main line between drax power station and knottingley also.

York is a big complicated area, mostly been signal laying up the south side of the platform and working on the gradient of the station which is very time consuming.

Drax to Knottingley Signals and gradients are sorted and VMS signals correctly applied/recreated for that stretch of track, (not accessible via normal means)

Still have a few areas to apply signals around the doncaster to york section of tracks.

More progress on York, lots of gradient work going on lots of signals have been placed and track marking is slowly getting done.
Will need to visit York station soon to get more info on platforms and signal locations.

The York Private Yard is sorted for gradients.

South Sidings are in progress for gradients and will be completed soon, signals will be a bit more difficult for this area as I can't find any footage or reference of the area.

North Sidings are in progress too, I'm checking over it to make sure all the gradients are sorted for that area.
And the Klondyke Yard in the bottom middle area with the parrellel tracks is almost sorted too.
    -
In all its coming along slowly but its looking good.

As a treat I've uploaded a test run of the Doncaster to York route, remember this is still work in progress and the bumps and jolts on sections of the route will be cleaned up.

Looks like I'm going to have to redo a lot of curves as I've been doing them wrong, I've not been using easements which is causing the jolting when entering a curve.

This is going to effect the entire map =P But if it improves the overall experience then it has to be done.

    Update:
From current tests the jolting from entering the updated easements is now working much nicer.

So yes, the whole easement issue is going to take a while to fix, this means going through and relaying track/curves.

Takes time to redo sections like this but its really looking much better and more accurate.

I changed the highlight colour to allow easier to understand where straights are.

I would settle for just Doncaster - York - Darlington (It would be easier to create) , with your current map (and only a couple of hands) the route will come out in 5 years - but it looks amazing of course

I understand it'll take a while =) It was just going to be Doncaster to Sheffield, but I felt I really wanted York to be apart of it too.
But York will only get signals and platforms but not the full station atm.

The signals/safety equipment, signs are mostly placed down for the York section.
    -

The south yorkshire section will the first section to be worked on before anything scenery related gets worked on for York.
But I want to get track/signal/equipment stuff is fully working.

That's probably the best approach, modifying signalling down the road gets VERY irritating

Nah that's not really to difficult to clean up, signalling is quite simple for the most part. Now routing the signals thats time consuming.
Editing the timetable is fustrating if more is added later on.

Will be going quiet while I work on the upgrades to the easements and curves, this is boring stuff and will take a while to work on.
Its my own fault for not understanding the tutorials properly.

But from current testing and upgrading the curves the simulation is much nicer and smoother to drive the routes that have been upgraded so far.
