If another preserved railway can be possible we could have the Bluebell Railway that goes from East Grinstead to Sheffield Park via Kingscote & Horsted Keynes. The Stock can be the BR Mk1 stock with Buffet car and for steam locomotives that can me made for the game Modified Hall 4-6-0 6989 Wightwick Hall now everyone wants a western region loco in the game the Hall would be a great choice or a Great Western Manor class. For Southern fans the U Class 2-6-0 would be a great loco to have. For diesel locos the Class 33 in BR blue livery. The Class 73 Electro Diesel The class 09 shunter that did haul the Victorian stock
The Bluebell is a great shout for another heritage railway (if someone wants to build another heritage railway) however, from what I know, 6989 is currently on loan to the Bluebell from the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre. You really couldn't have the Bluebell Railway with LBSC 72 'Fenchurch' or LBSC 55 'Stepney'. If we were to ever get a GWR route, I would prefer it to be either a Western Region heritage railway like the Severn Valley or Dartmouth Steam Railway or have it as a GWR-era or BR(W)-era route like the GWML or Penzance - Bristol plus the Falmouth & St Ives Branches
Heritage railways may be the way to get steam back the only problem is people will not like going at 25mph
I don't think WSR helped in that cause.. I don't think it was the best choice for DTG to give us the UK's longest heritage railway as our first TSW heritage railway.. should have been a more famous one like the Severn Valley, Bluebell or Great Central Railway (I would mention NYMR but I believe they have issues with licensing hence why the TSC NYMR was referred to as 'Pickering to Grosmont Heritage Railway')
Thats over 200 miles! Maybe Par - Exeter with the Bodmin to Boscarne branch set in between the 50s and 70s
I was trying to think of the best place to end that sort of route.. I had no idea it was that long! If we were to get a Western Region Steam-era route, I would have to include Swindon and/or Didcot IMO
I live a very short distance from the Bluebell so would love to see it in the game. My Steam loco choice would probably be Fenchurch, be nice to have a tank engine in the game and a Victorian period loco too, though it seems very unlikely now with Steam seemingly done away with (as a Bulleid Pacific fan, 34059 Sir Archibald Sinclair would be nice too). Flying Scotsman could also layer on, having visited the railway in both 2017 and 2023. You could also layer on an AI Southern 377 to be berthed next to East Grinstead station, as this happens occasionally during weekends. With the Class 33, I think you could reuse the existing WSR one (or just renumber it), as it's intended to be painted to be in BR Green, same as the 09 is when it's overhaul is complete.
The problem with heritage lines… Great at 25MPH with a small steam loco and seven or eight coaches. Problem is, we’re not likely to get DTG to review their stance on steam traction in TSW or even sort out the physics on the four locos we got. And heritage railways with a 1500+ hp diesel loco or even DMU are just not fun as a few seconds, not even at full throttle and you’re doing 25 MPH. Then you’re just flicking light power on and off to keep moving and even on gradients you don’t need full throttle to keep going.
Many of us are very content with the current physics and gameplay of the 4 locos and enjoy driving them. If you are reading this DTG please please please stop making excuses and make more steam locos. You don't need to make entire routes for them, simply make a few more as standalone addons and we will buy them. A GWR pannier for example would go absolutely brilliant with the WSR route.
agreed.. I understand the reason why DTG have stopped making Steam but when I drive the steam engines, they are at the quality I expect them to be (I basically can't identify the 'steam physics Issue'). My only issues is that the steam pressure raising far to quickly and that the Saftey valves don't help lower the amount of steam in the boiler as they do in real life but apart from that, I'm somewhat happy with the steam engines that we have. DTG have clearly made their mind up for themselves and (like with the Class 66 issue) they provide a pathetic and over all stupid excuse
The Bluebell would be a lovely addition - the obvious locos for it being a Terrier and perhaps the 4MT that they usually have out in my experience.
