The F40PH is the first loco to come with names (accurate names in accordance to the loco # BTW), so maybe it`s a TSW2020 feature, or DTG just never thought/bothered in the past. If it's the first, maybe the older locos will get nameplates retrofitted.
Don't forget the named class 40s too. I've often thought it would add a bit more realism if some had nameplates. It's probably quite tricky to achieve though. Having all the names and plate sizes for the locos and then adding them on the fly. Although the 47 "Northstar" randomly appears on WSR services so maybe it's doable. The class 52 has a plate but that's just the one loco.
Not sure about that. 45s were mostly named after army regiments and named 47s at the time were pretty generic (people, rivers etc.). Have seen 47484 (Isambard Kingdom Brunel) and 47555 (The Commonwealth Spirit) on NTP. I do note that 476XX series locomotives are also on NTP but most of those 47/4 conversions didn't exist in 1983. Good gen here: http://www.class47.co.uk/c47_intro_v2.php And here: https://derbysulzers.com/peaknames.html Would love to see some SF grey roofs on relevant 47s too!
I'm guessing these were unnamed in game? Would also really like to see some named loco's in game especially on the 45's and 47's. I appreciate the 40's had lost theirs by then but still a few had them painted on. It would add just that touch to a journey, as it would back then when going on a trip and finding it was being pulled by a named engine. Even to the point of having off region engines or as mentioned roofs or red drawbars. They could add them in the menu when selecting a loco. I'd even go as far as to say I'd pay for them as skins if they were reasonably priced.
