Yes, the main WCML features AWS (and functioning Neutral sections in case there was any doubt surrounding that).

Of course, Morecambe Promenade does not feature AWS.

Personally I think the hills look, dull, bleak and bland so JT have done a very good job of recreating them in the game. Not a local, and not experienced with hills, but what I saw in that screenshot were what I were expecting in all honesty, won't be ruining owt for me. I don't think I have said enough how much I am looking forward to this route so I'll say again how excited I am to get my hands on it.

Excellent! These really should have been a standard feature for years now.

Appreciate the update. It's going to be spectacular I'm sure. I can't wait to get a few screenshots as I blast through Lune Gorge

    Class 87
I have posted a comment on Facebook regarding Raildriver, but I am not a a regular user of the platform.

Will I be able to use my Raildriver Controller to drive the Class 87, in particular the Power Control Handle, Tapping or notching up/notching down.

Difficult not to wet oneself in anticipation of this chef-d'œuvre from JT. Looking forward also to the continued development of this region and era, with the announced loco DLC and hopefully other additions and enhancements to keep us immersed.

Just out of interest, will there be any interactivity with Steamtown Carnforth on the route (I did see about a Signal Box in one of the Developer Entries) or locos visible with the right layers? Or is it too early to say?

Regardless this is a route I'm very much looking forward to and given the route length and gradients, the Steam services should be of a very decent length.

As JT ever considered doing TSW Steam or are you going to wait until the physics is fixed?

I'm pretty sure the answer to this is "no/unlikely", but I do wonder if it's possible to link up Preston to Manchester Victoria, which is already in TSW, albeit a few years earlier than Blackpool Branches and this coming attraction.

It's been a little while since I played Trans-Pennine, but I did generally enjoy it and would like to see Victoria a bit more crowded than it is.

I'd rather have a remaster/remake of Trans-Pennine made by DTG (with a Class 124 if dreams were real) with JT making actually new routes, even though NTP does hold up quite well compared to some other older routes it could really do with some TLC.

I'll also rather have a remastered NTP but I do think it needs a Calder valley route alongside it.

That’s understandable Mark and as someone who didn’t get much further than laying a couple of track sections in the public editor, have no experience of how easy or difficult the terrain painting tools are to use. Anything like TSC probably a PITA. So more of an observation and won’t detract from a Day One purchase or even preorder from this customer.

Also almost certain distant vistas on this will look better than TSC where everything beyond 3 or 4 km just appears as a flat green texture.

But certainly something to be aware of for any future projects in hilly terrain, that abrupt transition between moorland and grass on a bare hillside does look a bit jarring. And if Tom does get time to go in and work some magic where Shap Fells meet the lower ground, so much the better.

If the non volumetric fog / low sun screenshots had been put out by DTG, they'd be getting a new one ripped in these forums.
I'm looking forward to this route as much as the next person, but want it to look good too, and as a driver on the route for many years, I'm looking forward to reliving some great days.
This DLC has to be held in the same critical light as other DLCs have been.

Interesting! So maybe the screenshot is not that bad, though at odds with the ground view which was shown.
Anyhow the route will be superb. Still plodding around on the SimSig Carlisle simulation and can't wait to put a 3D take on all those moves and Kingmoor Yard etc.

Indeed the Lune Gorge is a curious place, it does also depend on season in real life (admittedly not in game). At certain times of year the upper fell above the wall I understand goes a more green colour (late spring/early summer?) , but most of the year is a yellowy sort of tint. I guess its moorland above and regularly farmed/grazed land below the wall....I'll stop trying to pretend I know what I'm talking about there though, all I know is that the change of colours is pronounced much of the year!

It will be a Mark III Restaurant car though, not the most sought after Mark One RMB or RBR. Now if JT had done a rake of Mark 2 aircons, they would have needed to address the provision of a Mk1 catering vehicle as that’s what ran in these sets.

There are more on there, and they look as good as these!

I am rather astonished by how much they have included at Carlisle, that will be a shunters heaven!

As I noted on their Facebook post of these shots, this time period in the UK is not a great interest to me, but this route is a must have on release.

Same here! I'm too young to remember this era, but the 87 alone is worth getting the route for. If I'm being really picky, would have preferred early 1990s, with a DVT for push-pull operations.

Yeah I think they will nail the route. Still have yet to play blackpool branches lol but not in a rush.

Additionally, I do wonder if they stick to the 80s or expand to modern day. Who knows. But bloody excited either way and 90 miles is pretty good.

I mainly like driving trains that I have been on and driving on routes that I have been over. This isn't one I'm interested in, as I'm only really interested in modern era. However it is excellent detail and I do hope JT consider doing a modern route down the line, or a route with something like a 221 or 220 (or both). I believe they made a 22X for TSC.

In Just Trains latest development news today, they stated that many of the shops and streets surrounding Carlisle Citadel Station have been faithfully recreated by our team to give Carlisle a realistic feel. Something Rivet should learn and implement into WCL.

Thank you JTs we know from Blackpool Branches, that your newest creation will blow other routes completely out of the water!!!

Even though I'm more into modern routes, it is clear this route will outshine DTG's WCML attempt by a country mile.

Just look at how much variety this route has, it’s literally never before seen.

5 different types of gronk, 5 47/4 liveries, 2 different 87 liveries, 2 MK3 liveries..new wagons, the list goes on.

You would never EVER see DTG pull something like this

AND they have a loco dlc in development for this as well.
I’m gonna call for this, Blackpool branches, and Niddertalbahn to be put into a TSW Pro Category because they are just THAT good.

the CEO of Just Trains has his Priorities Straight, he’s not messed about, and he’s willing to help us.

They also have Tom Harrison on their team who’s attention to detail is quite stunning!!!

l have watched many of his route building videos and the work he puts in is absolutely amazing.

l am pretty impressed with San Bernardino but am not familiar with the area. DTG, however do seem to overdo the graphite.

I would hope they don't as JT may only do one route a year and us older era fans have been starved enough then if they do a modern route its possibly a two year wait. Modern fans are well catered for.

Did make me smile to see a couple of references to old Whitehaven in the screenshots. I remember that depot, not been on the train to Carlisle for a few years now, but all long gone I think. Was wondering what train 47648 from the coast would have been running?

This is not correct. It will be possible to use the 142 if you own the Blackpool Branches route, but it isn't included with the standalone purchase of the Preston to Carlisle route.

Could be a Parcel train from Workington. I've got a Cabride DVD from 86 or 87 I believe with a first generation DMU from Barrow to Carlisle and there's a 47 and parcel vans at Workington.

I do have some very vague memories of loco-driven passenger trains passing through Whitehaven, but very rarely, so your answer there makes a lot more sense.

One question I have always had is the class 47: is it just trains's version of it or just ported over from tsw4 routes.

Additionally are the sounds different to the ones we already have in game or not.

Just wandering if it was all built from ground up.

Those latest screenshots looks great. I am very excited for this now. In particular it looks like there will be plenty to do in the 08, I rarely feel like driving it on the routes, I feel in Blackpool it is underused. I get the feeling I will want to be using it regularly on this route.

Until we know otherwise assume it's identical to the Blackpool Branches version. That one is based on DTG's one, but with some changes of their own.

So it seems a DTG announcement for this is planned for tomorrow (or today I guess) as JT said in FB comments that the price will be announced this Thursday...
