With DTG Matt remastering Clinchfield, I thought I would suggest some locomotives that could pair along well with the remaster. 6 F3A & 4 F3B The difference between these and the F7 is minimal, the main being the F7 ability to have a higher continuous tractive effort. 18 GP7 This was EMDs first road locomotive to use a hood design, could make a good addition with it being a different way to operate any current loco in-game (due to the high hood) this would also be the first high hood in-game. 10 GP38 & 8 GP38-2 They look like a SD40 but are in fact a gp38 it can be hard to tell the difference but the gp38 had a max hp of 2000hp and only had 4 axels while the SD40s had 3000hp over 6 axels. 7 SD45 & 18 SD45-2 The main difference between these and an SD40 is that an SD40 has 3000hp and these have 3600 hp. SW7 It's a switcher what more is there to say it has 1200 hp and we don't have a switcher currently for this route 7 U36C These were only really a stock gap measure for the railroad these were also the only GE locos that Clinchfield would ever operate. The Cinchfield got these as EMD could not deliver the desired SDs in the required time. This locomotive was a fan favourite but the crew and shop did not return the feeling, sighting their poor performance or reliability, these were traded to another railway for SD45s in 1977. These could also be the first GE Universal locomotives in TSW.
Sadly, we were told at some point that Clinchfield sold rather poorly, which is likely at least part of the reason it never got a loco DLC. I doubt that they’d give us one even when Matt’s work comes out. If we ignore the background though, I’d dearly love the GP7. With her high hood, she’d be something new in TSW and could be used for more of the mainline pickups that don’t feature much in the current timetable. Don’t think there is much point in the F3 since the differences to the F7 are not all that prominent. Did the F3s lack auto transition? That would give them something new, at least. The GP38 would be underwhelming given that we already have enough to swim in them. The SD45 and U36C would just be more of the same mainline runs. The SW7 could provide some new gameplay but I think there’s nothing she could add that the GP7 couldn’t do and the GP7 has more options for adding services along the mainline.
I do agree there would not be much point in adding the F3 or GP38. I mainly want the GP7 (to be honest I just want a high hood). The U36C's only real special thing is that I would sound different to an EMD, has a different appearance and different controls. I would be happy with just a GP7 (or any high hood).
The SD40's had 3 rear radiator fans on the top of the long hood, the GP38 only have 2. Also the GP's were QUITE SHORTER than the SD series. SD45's had a slanted rear radiator section.
Is the Clinchfield remaster still coming? I honestly thought the remaster had been abandoned, as nobody has mentioned it for ages
Yes. Matt is working on it in his own free time most likely outside of working hours and he's said it's a massive amount of work. He's already busy with his main job so don't expect it to release any time soon
