I can see this being slightly more than the normal £30 for a route + loco DLC, but one case where I will make an exception and be happy to buy, even if £40!

I would think the 08 use is about right, at Blackpool everything in my memory propelled out to the Sidings and ran round there although it's possible if the Sidings were full the 08 would shunt release the stock to release the loco At Preston it did a bit of Parcels stuff like in the sim. A year or two later Blackpool and Preston would lose their 08s from memory.

Okay thanks that's good to know. I assumed it would have been correct as it is JT, however it just seemed odd that it is sitting there all day not doing much.

A lot of 08s were there as contingency, knock a defective coach out at a major station such as Preston with a member of staff also to drive it. As time went on the bean counters realised these locos did less and less and then of course they were removed. The Carlisle one will be a lot more active and in real life saw use until the early 2000s shifting wagons between Currock and Kingmoor until Currock was closed.

    That makes sense.

There is going to be a great amount of variety with this route, can't wait for it's release.

I reckon two weeks today… though not betting money on that!

Hopefully by then there will be some more TSW5 core fixes to help it along.

As regards price, little sweepstake with meown brain:
    £25 - 1000/1
    £30 - 10/1
    £35 - 3/1
    £40 - Evens
    £50 (I hope not!) -5/1

£30 please, do not want a precedent for everyone upping their RRP.

Oh my sweepstake was just a bit of fun and I do sincerely hope they stick with the £30 price tag. Just got a sneaky hunch that the length of the route and a (hopefully) well modelled Class 87 and intricate timetable is going to tickle someone’s thoughts of putting a “Pro” sticker and price on it. Don’t let my musings detract from the route itself but it doesn’t hurt to consider this may be regarded as a premium product.

I think it'll be out on the 5th and I think for the length of route and all the stuff with it, it'll be £35

    Edit: I was wrong haha

With these types of routes, I would more than happily pay 35, if that’s the case

I really want to get the route and dlc on release but if the route is 40 pounds that's 77 AUD (Australian dollars) which would be ridiculously expensive to the point it would put me off the route but as it's glorious JT they would make it cheaper just for us Aussies right?

I’m very likely to buy it at release but if the price is too high then I will just have to wait for a sale instead. I dare say it will be worth every penny of what I end up paying for it but everyone has a budget and a limit and I have a figure in mind that I won’t go above. That’s why I haven’t bought the expert 101 and am unlikely ever to do so as it is a loco DLC for £30 and that’s just not doable for me. I normally buy routes when they are first discounted on the PS Store so around £21 to £24 at 30% to 20% discounts so any full price route purchase is going above what I normally pay. If this is the standard £30 I’ll be straight in but £40 and I’ll be giving it much more thought about whether I need it right away as that’s getting close to the price of two routes at my normal entry point. Considering there is also a loco DLC coming for it I don’t want it ending up costing me an arm and a leg. Just a leg I’m fine with due to the quality.

Not sure I like the precedent this may set for lesser routes having the same price increase but I’ll be buying day one. £3 extra for all the content JT pack in is fine by me.

Looks like Black Friday week will be expensive, this along with the fact I need all the layering DLC still bar Blackpool, so I'm fingers crossed for a BF sale on Steam or somewhere selling Steam Keys for the older content.

Will they do BOGOF on the BFs

    So many questions

Oof that's a lot of DLC requirements for layers. Also, the article features a picture of a Class 37 but nowhere in the layers section does it mention how to get it.

Wow, so good to see Currock wagon works again!!!

I'm finding some of the nameplate placements on the 87s a little odd - when did they start moving them off-centre? They were all centred on the body in my day (admittedly that only stretches to 1983, I lost track of things after then)?

Iirc they started appearing off-centre when the IC liveries also started appearing, so mid-80s.

Can't wait for the 21st of November. I am more than happy to pay the extra 3 quid for this as I know it will be worth the money. It appears that the 87 will be a very detailed loco itself and then the route as the whole will undoubtedly be as beautiful as before. In regards to performance I wonder what it is looking like on different platforms. In fairness BPO runs just as well on my s series as it does on my PC, so hope this route will be the same.

The reason some of the nameplates are not yet in their correct position is due to the fact that the locomotive numbering system has yet to be finalised. When it is the nameplates will be placed automatically in their correct location which is dependent on the locomotive livery applied. These images are as ever in-dev and so cannot be labelled as final.

    Hope this helps! :)

    Cheers, Tom

All bets off on my sweepstake then! Think I can accept this price level for a route of that length and quality, but it will be a bit concerning if it sets a precedent for every future longer than average or more complex route.

Day One purchase then and assume as with BPO, there will be no preorder discount on this release. Bit of a long wait to the 21st though. Wonder if it has been pushed back as a reaction to MBTA being delayed, in order to stagger the releases?

Fingers crossed they've got approach release signalling implemented, pretty sure they had some kind of release from red into the loops?

Well it looks like I’m still in the game for a day one purchase at only £33. 21st November has been noted in my diary. It may turn out to be the best day of the year.

Is it approach release (flashing yellows) or approach control (held at danget till track circuit is occupied for a set time)?

That's how it's always been in tsw. Otherwise you run into the situation where you have a million of the same trains similar to the dosto situation

I think that pic provides the answer - many nameplates had crests above them, which had to avoid the grills on the upper side.

Yes, I'll be getting this on day of release - hopefully will be on PS Store early in the morning so I can have it downloaded by the time I get back from the office!

That TinTin57 lad on YouTube said he hoped they do the Cumbrian Coast line next - obviously I'd love that too, but I struggle to see it. You'd have to run it all the way down to Barrow, I think, and that's a fair old distance! And even then, not sure there'd be enough traffic to make it worthwhile - steelworks at Workington, a few chemical tankers going to Preston Street depot in Whitehaven, to and fro's at Sellafield... then not much like you hit the South end. There's always the Corkickle Brake, I suppose - I think that was just about still working in '86.

(I'm basing this entirely on my memories of West Cumbria in the 80s, and bear in mind I was born in 1981!)

Cumbrian Coast, nice though it might be, doesn’t really have the traffic levels to warrant the cost they would have to sell such a long route for. The DMU service from Carlisle to Workington was fairly frequent and plenty of freight, but south of Workington fairly sparse, maybe slightly more trains between Barrow and Sellafield. Then there’s the tricky problem of how you represent the nuclear power station and terminal at Sellafield, I doubt the power company is going to want its site or train operations in a sim!
