F125 is a great example of a nice, speedy loco, with enough power, that would run express trains in EU, but is instead forced to do heavy labor hauling superheavy US coaches at 80 mph (what a waste of its 100 mph potential)... I believe same is the case of the new loco that will be featured in MBTA Commuter
I mean, most US commuter stock is usually rated up to 125mph, really only limited by track upgrades, hence the 79mph speed limit. Though IIRC, the OC line/Surfliner along the coast between San Onfre and Oceanside is rated for 90mph. Only places rated higher is the Hartford Line, Michigan Line, Brightline in Florida, and the NEC.
