When restoring from a save in conductor mode, the game thinks you're a passenger with no service or tasks.

UNLESS, I note, you debark during a station stop and save there- that seems to work.

MP36 feels too weak compared to the F125. I understand, generational differences and all that, but even without comparing it to the F125 it feels too weak.

The F125 (4,700HP) has about 1,000 more horsepower than the MP36 (3,600HP), the power difference would feel noticeable IRL

Yeah, as I sayed - I understend that. But 4 cars... It is to weak even for such a lite weight(okay, okay, these are American cars, so they are very heavy, but there are only four of them).

If you ever travel on a Metrolink train with an MP36 you’ll find that they are indeed showing their age and weak compared to the newer F125s. In fact if anything, I would say the MP36 in TSW is slightly overpowered compared to the real thing. They can take very long to get up to speed and depending on the grade, may not even be able to reach full speed at all

Where is the speed restrictions on a HUD for the freight trains? How do I supposed to know what is the line speed(if there is no boards, but permitted speed are changes)? Ho do I supposed to know what is the switch speed? Buy some deck of Taro?

I might be totally off the mark, but isnt it usually the lower of the two numbers on the speed post? ... in Slovakia there are places where you have a speed board like 70 and lets say 90 underneath, and the meaning is that 70 is for freight and 90 for passenger traffic (kph)

edit: this is from some kind of official documentation of Slovak railways, of course it might be different in US... well, sure it is :) ... this discussion just reminded me of this, cos I would wonder why there are two speed boards at some places in here :)

Signal colors will inform you of upcoming restrictions. Learn to know what an "Approach Medium" for example is telling you on that network. Don't forget, railroad engineer is a profession. ;)

Is this a HUD? I'm talking about that the HUD(track monitor) is clear without any numbers on it. Also the speed is changes even without any boards. High red low green which means a switch ahead with WHAT restriction, ha?
Ofcourse IRL train engineers know everything, cause that their job. I'm know nothing about this route, sow how I suppose to learn anything if there is 0 info ingame?

Or IRL train engineers training courses looks like "You learned the signals aspects and we showed you how speed boards looks, thats enough - go on, strat your duty!"?

It won't always show on the HUD, but it should display on the track speed guide in the pause menu. In reality crews spend hours upon hours upon hours learning their territory and their railroad's rule books in order to become qualified on each route.

While specifically for Union Pacific, here's a good chart with a handy guide to signal codes and signage. If in doubt, a good rule thumb for diverging tracks on freight territory is to drop to 15MPH. If it ends up being a higher limit, then no big deal and you learn for next time.

So tell me what a speed restriction for the "RULE 245G"? The answer is 35. How do I know? The game says me AFTER I passing the switch.
What do speed limit signs for the switches look like and where are they located?

Again, it should show in the speed limit monitor in the pause menu.

In reality that would be in the employee rule book.

In practice, you've now learned the correct turnout speed for that particular switch. On your next run if you see that signal and turnout, you'll hopefully remember you need to proceed through it at no more than 35MPH. It's all part of the route learning process.

It shows a straight line at mark 55. It dropped to 35 only after I reaching the switch.

Also 35 MPH restriction fall off the HUD on Cajon near Victorville. It was there in TSW4.

You don't necessarily need a HUD to learn all this, just pay attention to the signals long before you reach the turnout, they will certainly have shown you the following or similar aspects. These will give you more than enough time to react accordingly.

    33.png

    11.png

    22.png

Personally I wanted to learn the signals and their aspects and it took a long time. Many of them I know by heart, some of them I have to look up myself from time to time because several signals and their aspects have different meanings in different territories.
But in the end I am rewarded every time I drive American freight from A to B and it feels really good.

So before 9.1.10 there is aspects that shows what exactly speed restriction will be on turnout. Correct? Otherwise where do I get this info if track monitor is glitching?

Does it bother anyone else that the route is completely void of any freight cars on any of the available tracks? It takes me out of the simulation. I happen to work right beside the San Bernardino line just east of the Rancho Cucamonga station. I spend all day next to these tracks. I see freight trains go by two or three times a day. The siding just across from my work is filled with covered hoppers. Why aren’t there any freight cars?

Stalker isn't kidding. It isn't just the missing track monitor HUD limits - which, in all other routes, are either "in" the game (DB Lf6) or not "in" the game (Zs3). On no other route are you penalized for not catching unindicated speed limits.

But worse, yet, knowing the signals is NO guarantee, because they're often just plain wrong. For example, near the speedway there's a 10 mph crossover guarded by a Medium Clear signal! There is also a 35 in the middle of a 55 which is unmarked and lasts the width of a level crossing- I smell a bug, a crossing asset with a 35 mph tag attached to it, and around San Bernardino there are drops to 10 with NO signal and NO speed sign- they're just dropped from orbit, like some on Clinchfield (which have never been fixed). Engineers are professionals, but they aren't psychics.

In general the signage and signals on this route, or at least the eastern end, seem to have been a very rushed and sloppy job.

Does anyone have any suggestions on getting the stuttering to stop on this route? I have a rather powerful PC and TSW4 ran phenomenally but TSW5 (especially the SBD Line) is a stutter fest. I copied over my old settings so I haven't made the graphics higher or anything. I've run the route end to end but the micro stutters are awful (one after another). It also seems to have a hard time with heavy night lighting. I drop almost 30 frames in the SB Depot station area at night only.
    Here's my specs:
    Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700F CPU @ 3.00GHz 3.00 GHz
    Installed RAM 16.0 GB

I wouldn't call this PC powerful in a modern days. Also what GPU you have?
First(and sometimes second) run on the route is always a stutter fest.
I have i5-10400 and don't face any noticeable stutters(only "micro") on this route. But the horn sound is stuttering from time to time, which really pisses me off.

Service SB331 1525 Pomona to LA union, is a nice service however once I arrived in LA union the station was deserted no passengers at all, but there were lots of trains. Its like the passengers were failing to spawn. I re- spawned on foot at the same time I arrived and passengers were there , but just not when I arrived on the train.

Also noticed when you completely shut down the MP36 (loco , hep, battery etc) you still hear air con working from the carriages .

Another point when doing depot runs to the Maintenance facility trains still have passengers in them! Surely this can be fixed as other routes like Brighton main line have this sorted out.

(WCML also has passengers on depot / non-revenue services )

I still hear it after I delete the train, and even after when I close TSW5, shutdown the PS5 and turn the telly off, not to mention also when I've fallen asleep

    Am I haunted

Service SB 304 LA union to San Bernardino at 0733 in the F125 noticed the main loco engine sound seemed to stop working if in idle , after passing the second station El monte I think. Only hear the loco sound if power lever is out of idle otherwise its silent , also when outside the loco couldn’t hear the engine sound almost totally silent . Was like this the whole way to San Bernardino downtown . Also when arriving at San Bernardino downtime , station completely deserted no passengers similar to an issue reported above when arriving at LA union . Not sure if this was after latest patch or not , but didnt notice these issues before patch . Playing on PC steam normal timetable ( not weekend ).

That, and the display background is too bright at night. Using the dimming controls dims the display elements, but leaves the bluish background too bright.

Tree trunks going funky near Fontana Metrolink station (close behind the parked city bus near the eastern end of the station).

The lack of rain effects on the F125 windows has been reported before, but there also seems to be some rain reaching into the cab on the secondman's side.

Does someone know what and where applicable the Quiet Zone rules are? I can't believe Metrolonk rolls through suburban LA backyards blasting horns continuously, as the density of crossings would suggest.

The Quiet Zone means you don't sound the horn, only the bell when passing crossings. In this route it is only found between San Bernardino Station and San Bernardino Downtown iirc.

When I tried this route for the first time I didn't like it at all; I thought that the scenery is relatively bad compared to other routes. How blind was I, it's really wonderful scenery with so much attention to detail. Now I can't play anything but this route. It's amazing!
And freight services are superb - yard works and deliveries to local industries are super interesting.

yes the added freight services make the Metrolink San Bernadino more play value its a start to make US freight more engaging to run ..I just bought the Boston MBTA that route is good too has playable freight services that are similar to san Bernadino. If you own the necessary dlc s to layer it in ..i like playing both passenger and freight so routes with both are the best ..

Not sure if this is a core thing that can be fixed but when I pay attention to unit numbers I’ve noticed on this route specifically a lot of repetition. IE it’s not uncommon to see more than one MP36 with the same number at LA Union. Or, this weekend when I played a service from El Monte to Speedway on the weekend timetable I had not one but two unit 101 bilevels in my consist. Then when I got to speedway I got passed by another Metrolink heading to LA (only other Metrolink train on the entire run) and it was ALSO pulling a coach number 101. So in other words like 30% of the coaches that spawned on this run were specifically bilevel unit 101.

So that mod for some reason affects San Bernardino. Had this reported a last month by s player and once he roomed the mode it worked with no issues. I played San Bernardino on Xbox X ,PC steam , and epic with no issues. Give it a try and see

I only have the issues of lower fps in very few location on this route, otherwise its 50 - 60, so am willing to live with it. Taking out my mods just to run one route, then put them back in for everything else is too much trouble to me.

Not for me, I am a steady 55 - 62 there. My worst one is the second 40 mph curve headed east from LA. I can briefly drop into the 20s here.
