The hustle and bustle of Caltrain’s scenic railroad, which races its way along the San Francisco Peninsula, is available now for Train Sim World 2020. READ MORE
I am also really enjoying this route, I feel like Peninsula Corridor is a piece of the puzzle we were missing in terms of route variety. From driving the FPH-40 I have learned that I need to be more patient on the braking. I have been waiting until the 0.5 mile range but even then I’m finding I have to release them or I stop way to early. They certainly are great brakes!!
The brakes are a little unnerving. The tiniest available amount of braking does nothing for quite a while, and then suddenly stops the train on a dime. I have no idea what would happen if you applied more brakes, but I'm worried that it might actually cause you to go backwards in time to last week, before you set off.
Great route DTG, but I really should tell you something...PLEASE INCLUDE THE MPI MP36PH-3C locomotives and Bombardier Cars on a future DLC!!!
Enjoying the route, just trying to get used to the braking on the F40-PH a little tricky to get just right as you're approaching the station. But otherwise great route.
I can't figure out how to link the UP units braking system. Like how the CSX in NEC could be linked to add pulling/braking power. Other than that the last update fix bugs issues I had. So I give this route and dlcs an A+. Love it DTG keep the American railways coming. Please!!!
I'm not sure that I understand your problem, but have you tried looking at the manual? Pages 14-15 explain more than you'll really ever want to know about multiple unit lash-ups. Yesterday, I was running an activity that included operating my engine as the trailing unit of a 3-engine lash-up. I wanted to turn on the headlight of the lead engine, but could not figure out how to do so. I find that both scenarios and timetable activities often lack important or even crucial instructions that are not covered in the training sessions, which is very frustrating.
Can you even set the trailing gp38-2s to operate with the lead? I can only get them to be hooked individually instead of running as a pair (or trio in this case). I also have the brake problem stated above, part of the connection issue.
Been playing game for couple years. Read manual front-to-back. The UP locos won't lash up (brakes/power work together) when I do same set up that I use on CSX locos. So thanks for the insightful tips and attitude.
The manual does not cover the situation I described. Following the activity's instructions, I eventually wound up driving long-hood forward (i.e., facing the first freight car when in the driver's seat) at the rear of a four-engine MU hauling multiple freight cars; since the early morning light was still fairly dim, I wanted to turn on the headlights of the lead engine. I tried various MU setups, none of which accomplished this seemingly elementary task. I do consult the manuals, but on-screen instructions often contradict them or call for them to be carried out in a different sequence. Training activities that conform to the appropriate manual's instructions or manuals that conform to training sessions would be good to have. Most of the time, the discrepancies do not actually matter, but the sometimes become crucial and that becomes frustrating. Interactive training sessions would be much better, but perhaps making them is not possible at this point.
