The Mittenwaldbahn is coming soon, I know it was on Train Simulator, but I have no idea what the shape of the road is. Will there be many services, with which trains? Was she expected by the German community ?
To answer the main question of what form this route will come as, I'm going to really go out on a limb with this wild guess and say railway form, really can't put my finger on why my gut is telling me this tho........
Well it goes without saying, unlike TSC with a small number of scenarios you will get the timetable for the whole day. I also had an issue on the TSC version, at some of the halts on the steep gradient, it was very easy to creep forward slightly and fail the scenario with a “Moving train with doors open”, infraction particularly loading into a save game. TSW is a bit more lenient in such instances.
As far as we'll know the regional services seem to be done by a ÖBB 1020 and Silberlinge. Until now, we don't know if there are also long distance services in the timetable and which loco/coaches will be used for it. Realistically it should be either a BR 141 or a 111. But we don't know anything about that, yet.
I'm not sure about 1989, but in more recent years the main interchange has been at Seefeld-in-Tirol (rather like Freilassing in Rosenheim-Salzburg), and most locals north of there are DB. I guess they'll be using 110s again, pretending to be 139s, as well as 111s, all pulling Silberlinge (which, in 89, should be silver way more often than refurbs in mint green). There would also have been DBB long distance trains, but the game doesn't have appropriate coaches for them (m-Wagen/UIC X) Another issue is freight: today freight doeen't use the route at all, except in emergency reroute situations; it all runs via Rosenheim-Kufstein. And if they still did in 89- well, the game has very little Austro-German freight stock appropriate to the period..
Aren't Niddertalbahn and Koblenz both from the early 90s? There's at least some rolling stock that would be appropriate there since freight cars tend to be used for years anyway. Don't know about the rest. Not up on German freight cars. Just know what we have in the game. Again, it'll probably come down to how "accurate" you "need" things to be. TSW sometimes fudges things for gameplay and fun.
In 1989 the main DB locos that worked over the line were 111s, 218s and the odd 140, and we know we are getting the OBB 1020.
At least, I found 3 IC-Services (IC 128/129 Karwendel - Innsbruck(9:55 Uhr)/Seefeld(10:27)-Dortmund/Hannover, IC 782/783 Ernst Barlach - Seefeld (11:17)/Mittenwald (11:45 Uhr)-Hamburg-Altona, IC 784/785 Wetterstein - Mittenwald (8:47 Uhr)-München-Hamburg-Altona) one D-train (D 1416/1417 Innsbruck (19:10)-Dortmund), 2 FD-trains (FD 1917/1918 Ammersee - Mittenwald (8:27 Uhr)-Augsburg(-Dortmund als FD 1915/1916), FD 1987/1988 Werdenfelser Land Seefeld (19:27 Uhr)-München) in the real timetable...looks like all these trains back then were driven by a BR 111 (already in game, so, why not add them/leave them out...)
In fact the IC128/129 is shown to be hauled by a 103. However, I am not certain that the loco was not changed to something else in Munich. But the rest of the consist was a bunch of Avm and Bpm and their like. This would be something for a layer, I would say...
But if so, only a few would be in Produktfarben red and white; in '89 most would still be beige/crimson (since ICs never got Ozeanblau)
You may well be right; but again, it would need the old orange-red and cream livery, and the old "S" logo
Pictures 9 and 20 over here seem to suggest otherwise (both were 1989): https://doku-des-alltags.de/BDMuenchen/KBS900/11 Haspelmoor 1.html Picture 20 even in Produktfarben
Yes, my understanding is that international IC/EC services are "shared" routes. Interestingly enough, it seems that up to just a year before (spring 1988), Dortmund-Seefeld was one of the last routes for the VT 11.5s before they were retired. BTW, No 17 shows the livery chaos of the period:
Yes, but not within a timetable season, I guess?! All of those trains have follow on services etc. Highly doubt that they change this on a weekly or daily basis. Maybe from a logistical standpoint this could be done between weekend and weekday services. Then again, all speculation, I really don’t know. Found a picture from earlier years that would suggest ÖBB stock. But in 89 I am pretty sure that it was a pure DB consist.
What I meant was that, rather like the Frankfurt-Paris trains, some originate from each end, ICEs in Frankfurt and TGVs in Paris. Multiply until you have the daily timetable filled. So in this case you would have DB IC trains running south from Dortmund, turning around at Innsbruck and going back, and similarly OBB EC trains based at Innsbruck running north to the Ruhr and back.
Possible! This would be supported by the fact that this train actually had two different operating patterns (Laufplan), as can be seen here: Datenbanksuche — Datenbank Fernverkehr But both of them seem to operate trains within Germany and even to other countries like the netherlands after and before service 128/129. Besides, I think it would be simply a layer, using the 111 and the LFR coaches. Maybe even the 103, as this consist would be comming from only one other DLC and would not have to get a new paint job.
