This would be great however I would prefer the Northampton loop with this so we still get some fun in the 350.

Yes it is. Overall it is a very good mod.

There are a couple of 'issues' with it. (There are times of the day, and some weather conditions, where the overall look doesn't quite look right. You also have to tinker about with God Mode too). However when it does work well it makes everything look bright and sharp. So I do recommend it.

(If you look at my TVR thread you will pick up the moment that I 'acquired' it).

 

What i'd personally love to see announced is an extension of the current ECML from Doncaster to York, possibly with or without a Class 91.. but having Peterborough to York instead of Peterborough to Doncaster would be the dream announcement for me.

in terms of current announcement updates, i really want to know more about Cardiff.. and when that route does eventually come i hope that Heath High Level gets included too, just to add another service option to drive without always having to drive the Coryton branch

 

I am hoping more American passenger content is in the works for the surprise

 

What could be a surprise that the team has been working on and waiting a long time to talk about?

For me, it would be a pleasant surprise:
- remastering old routes to new standards;
- implementation of a new "suspension" function for all rolling stock;
- implementation of the VR mode;
- expansion of the editing capabilities of existing routes through a public editor.

 

One can dream.... how about anouncement of the return of the preservation crew to tackle all bugs on old routes so they finally get fixed after years and years...

Well for starters hopefully more info on the already announced add-ons, like Tadami Line, the Santa Fe pack and the dutch route.

Would also love to see more train add-ons announced, like a LIRR diesels pack, Amtrak Genesis or other stuff that would make existing routes more complete.

 

Possible likely stuff could be the hints from existing routes, such as:
MBTA Red Line
Frankfurt underground S Bahn

Bigger stuff:
Multiplayer mode
WCML extended to Birmingham or Rugby
A new Rush Hour pack (but not naming the routes yet)
New subscription model for DLC

 

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get a green and yellow Freightliner class 66 for WCMLS

 

This could possibly be a stretch, but it could perhaps be like an entire network, such as Cardiff metro, London Underground etc. although the problem with that is that it would take up a lot of storage and would most likely run very slow. But I guess you never know, they said it was something “big”…

 

I would also like to see entire Railroad networks appear in TSW

 

Funny seeing people getting hyped up with this big announcement hoping for route extensions, IC225 set etc. Some of us have been here before with these announcements and they've been a damp squib.

It's probably just something like a company name change or something.

if a 91 is coming i think Leeds would be the preferred choice than York, maybe followed by both Doncaster and Leeds to York in the future. I doubt that will happen but it would certainly get my money if it did

 

How would people feel about them doing TSW on Android / IPhone ???. That’s what I’m guessing it is. However I really hope it’s a surprise route or something we are going to see.

Otherwise it might be a discount on all DLC for TSW but hold up !!… You need those wages for Christmas presents anyway

People are for how I see it expecting a lot, thinking multiplayer or an extension of a route is something they denied for years and suddenly will do. Like take a ticket I expect msot of them being a "look a route name and length of something we are working on" Like the recent one from TSG those can be incredibly positive for the community.

The special thing? no clue

I suspect the updates will also include some third party projects, updates to the editor as every stream matt says they hired another person for the team working on the editor. Maybe some update on in train announcements, the API thing and maybe even some shape of EBuLa. or the next expert dlc that's planned.

something they have been wanting to show us for a while and the gameplay packs. I suspect it to be one or more loco addon packs. something along the lines of three nations again possible canidates from the top of my head are a Railjet, BR Class 91, A british freight loco or even the DB 420 and Ludmilla assinged somewhere. I'd mention american stuff but I really don't know much about that. It could also be something along the lines of skyhook's british freight gameplay packs but for mainland europe or something.

There's a lot that's possible but I don't expect it like announcing a new country or license, the return of preservation crew and updating all older stuff to the current state of functions ingame. (yes current state keeps changing so that isn't a one off thing) Another christmas or some special funny fictional route would be fun but I doubt that too.

Stuff asked a lot that I see not in the announcements next month or the coming years is Multiplayer, UE5, Doubling the length of just released routes or connecting them in any way better than route hopping. TSW on phone? just no... Steam rebirth? there's a 1% chance in my opinion but I don't think it will be done soon.

 

The something big could just be a red Herring and might not be something most of us would consider a "big" announcement. As said we have been here before.

I wouldn't be too surprised if it was a phone version of the sim, but am also very sceptical that it would be! I certainly wouldn't be interested if it is, I find using my phone to watch a video or read a web page is bad enough, I can't imagine staring at my phone driving trains, wouldn't think it would be very immersive. Surely it would have to be a very cut down version of the sim due to a phones memory and storage space.

I am sure we will get some release dates and more information on what is including in up and coming routes and packs.

It could be a big announcement of some much requested DLC or extension but I am not so sure. It could be some Christmas themed DLC, which personally wouldn't get me excited. It could be another new venture.

I am intrigued and looking forward to the announcement but can't say I am that excited at the moment.

I'm gonna say that with Freightliner now in the game, the intermodal DLC from Skyhook will now give us a FL version 66 with the potential for a class 70.
Makes sense to me at least.....

 

Would be great to see a new freight locomotive.

 

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) the Skyhook DLC is another type of DB Intermodal wagon rather than Freightliner. Assuming it is just the one wagon like the previous two DLCs, it’s commonly seen in mixed rakes with the FKAs we already have in-game.

I wonder what the big announcement is after all the initial ones.

 

I don't think the scale of the big announcement can be set before we hear a couple of the small ones. I would at least assume it were more interesting/exciting than they are.

I think it's going to be a good Christmas. With jt wcml. Dtg are going to announce they have fixed the stuttering, introduced dlss and fsr, extended wcml to Scotland, fixed every single bug on tsw and upgraded all the old routes to tod4!

I do think whoever makes the Kings X to Peterborough section will be making a lot of money especially from the amount of exciting additional dlc that could be made for the route and used as various layers
Like the 365, 717, 800/802/803, 180s, 225s
Depending on how modern we get it we could see 317s and 321s endless possibilities
My only overly ambitious ask for this section of the ecml would be either the FPK to moorgate lines or the loop that goes round Gordon Hill etc

Even though I am a gen 8 user. I do agree gen 8 is holding us back. A lot of these kind of routes would need to be gen 9 minimum
The Brighton mainline route couldn't function with all the layers properly and that was a couple years ago now. I do think it's time to start making gen 9 only routes and certain routes like the LO GOBLIN line be both gen 8/9

But let me not go of topic

Believe it or not, it looks like one of the surprises of December will be the Class 92. There will be no proofs.

"Something BIG" sounds like something American. Obviously not a Big Boy, so Peninsula Corridor 'Modern' with Stadler EMU(it's big enough).

 

The big surprise is an extension for the holiday express route. Out through the cat flap and into the garden we go all aboard a brand new toy train… choo choo, it’s Christmas. It’s the only thing that makes sense seeing as they are basically doing an advent calendar leading up to it. I’ll be really disappointed if it isn’t this now I’ve thought of it

 

Actually I’m hoping for Rivet to tease their new route. Given their release cycles it should be a new Swiss route and since SBB is out and only RhB is left, it should be RhB- and actually all routes left are total bangers irl; so I really hope we get some news because it was a real treasure having a mountainous route at the end of the last year!! (Bernina was teased on November 7th 2023 so maybe we will be lucky).
What gives me hope is actually not only their release rhythm but also that they have nothing on the roadmap apart from the levenmouth branch- which is almost done as we know now! So maybe DTG did ask Rivet to wait with a teaser for the beginning of December
