I know myself and a few people I know would love to see the South Western Mainline added into train sim world between Weymouth and either Southampton Central or Basingstoke.

With a distance of 75 miles I think it could add a nice challenge with a variety of services.
Some of those being Express, Stopping, Semi fast alongside freight services with the yards at Southampton Docks (Maritime) and Eastleigh Yard.

For potential branch lines/ side routes I'd propose the 5.6 mile Lymington town Branch. Depending on the era it is set in the Weymouth Quay Tramway branch and if it were possible the 6 mile long Swanage Railway Branch.

For the Eras for the route to be set in I have had a few ideas.

The first is to set it in the late British rail era with class 33 and 73 locomotives along side the class 411, 4vep and 4tc sets with electric services halting at Bournemouth where a Diesel locomotive would attach to take the set down toward Weymouth.

For the second Era I'd propose the early privatization era when South West Trains started to take over or during the phasing out of the slam door stock with the Desiro sets coming online. Rolling stock for this would be the class 442 Wessex Electric sets, Class 444 and Class 450 Desiro units along with the Class 411 slam door EMU.

If the Swanage branch were to be added the Class 33/ Class 08/ Class 101 (Reskinned to represent the Class 117) along with the Flying Scotsman could layer in to form a special Gala timetable using the MK1 coaching stock.

Other layers for both eras could include the Class 43 HST in Intercity Swallow or 125 livery, Class 37, reskinned Class 158s along with the Class 66 in EWS livery for the early privatisation era.

Just a thought, would love to hear what you guys think about this

This would be the best shout, with the Weymourh Quay Tramway.

    Would make for interesting gameplay.

I would love London Waterloo to Guildford out of the SWR routes. I love the SWR as a network and the variation of services would be incredible

yeah It's a really nice part - London or Woking to Weymouth
    With the Lymington branch
And with the Basingstoke branch to reading using the GWR 165 or They could a class 220/221 for that branch and use the 165 as layers
By the class 220/221 I mean the runs from bournemouth to manchester and switches ends at reading

I'm secretly hoping DTG are unable to obtain the SWR licence, which would force them to use the South West Trains liveries, which look a lot better to me.

I think SWR/SWT is a good shout, but i reckon more variety would be from Waterloo to Portsmouth, it isn't that long and you can get a big variety of stock and service, that and it being an end to end service. For a branch line you could also include the guildford new line

I think the blue and red is a bit tacky, where the new liveries look a bit more sleek and modern.
Plus with SWR, all of the sidings got a big fresh upgrade with walking routes and better layouts rather than walking on concrete.
The stock would also be better too

A crossover in 2021 would be better (wont happen) London - Weymouth
