Xbox Series X Passenger Mode: Compass Stays On When Hud Is Off

Is there a way to get rid of the compass when you are in passenger mode? Normally you can just turn off the HUD and it's gone, but when you give up control of the train to be in passenger mode, the compass is forced back on the screen.

 

Ctrl+5 to toggle it.

It will remove the speedometer HUD in the bottom right if you then take over a service as well, so you'll need to press Ctrl+5 again if you want it back. This will then bring back the compass if you stand up.
