Pretty much what i found about this topic except that from what i read, only two 143 were equipped to go 160km/h but (as you stated aswell) was to expensive and a update to 140km/h was way cheaper, so after the two "experimental" Locos, all other 114 had 140km/h vmax.

As it clearly says "Größte Geschwindigkeit 140km/h" in the cab, i assume developers wasn't really sure themselves thats why we ended up in this situation. I just hope we will see a greater fix for the 114 to make it as enjoyable as the 143 is. Including hearable traction fans. *Be it with 140 or 160vmax, as long as we get it sorted.

All of the other 114s that were rebuilt from 143s. That is a single-digit number of locomotives.

The overwhelming majority of 114s are, and have always been, 160 km/h locomotives.

In fact, the 140 km/h class 143 conversions, except for the first trial locomotive, never actually got approval to run at that speed in service and kept their class 143 designation. There was only ever one single class 114 loco with a 140 km/h top speed, and it was scrapped a while ago.

Put a light 114 on the training center loop, bring her up to 160 km/h and try to come to a stop. :) Emergency application takes 75 seconds for the loco to come to a halt. Where's my ejection seat please?

The light loco has 189 BrH in R+E. It should come to a stop very quickly.

And you cannot lock the brake valve when in Full Service IRL, it must be in the "Abschlussstellung" (Hold, one notch after Running).

I think a lot of the confusion stems from the chaotic renumbering of "upspeeded" 243/143s. The first 114s were two prototypes, 114 101 and 114 301; they were experiments in converting 143s to 160 and 140 km/h, respectively. So at that time either number would have been a correct answer to "how fast can a 114 go?"

Meanwhile, just after reunification but before the DBAG merger, a DR prototype project, the 212- a 243-based design built from the factory for 160, went into limited production. After the merger, these 38 units (3 prototypes, 35 production) would be reclassed BR 112.0

Not long after, it was decided by the railways jointly to provide some jobs in the former East by ordering 90 iterations (45 each) of a different upspeeded 243 derivative, dubbed the BR 112.1. The DR put them on the Berlin services; DB used them mostly on IRs.

Now, following the 1999 railway reform and sectorization, the 112.0s fell to DB Regio, since they were used on regional trains in Berlin-Brandenburg, but the 112.1s belonged to DBFV as part of the Interregio system. And since sharing a series number across sectors offended someone's Teutonic sense of order, Regio's 112.0s were reclassed BR 114 (despite having nothing to do with the 114 prototype conversions). Of course, not long thereafter DBFV closed Interregio and sold its 112.1s to DBR, so what the heck.

Anyway, all 112s/114s can do 160, except poor old 114 301. (Note: these are not to be confused with the 112 and 114 renumbering of some of the E 10 series)

    ---------------------------------------
But none of this explains why DTG's 114 is so poorly done.

They were not the first 114s.

    114 101 and 114 301 were converted in 2006.

The class 112.0 locos were built in 1990...1991, and renumbered 114.0 in 2000.

Have a thx mkraehe#6051 bdobronz1968 and solicitr for clarification. Think i got my head around this. Still curious why the 140 was stated in the cab but at least it fits the theme of "not fitting" i guess :D

The 114 wouldn't be the first class to have its speed rating downgraded with age, or for other reasons. I know the 425 is capable of 160, but was downrated to 140 for several years because of its brakes. And there isn't nearly as much need for the 112s/114s to haul passengers on 160 km/h services, with the plethora of fast EMUs and TRAXX locos that DB Regio now owns. The 143 family are slowly being retired

I have used the 114 a few times now but i noticed no issues. Maybe its my art of driving but it was fun to drive with no issues that i have feeling or noticed.

Just because this loco is in the same family as the 112 and 143, there is no reason to rush it out. Not sure it was outsourced or made by somebody who took the 146 simugraph model as template, but it proofes DTG lacks badly of a solid quality control.

I mean on the 143 / 155 ... the d2 was modeled well. For casual drivers this might be a minor thing, but the braking for me is the most essential part in a train sim.

Thats why i believe the project was outsourced. The brakemodes pgr are just a selectable thing but dont change like in the 143.

We are not talking about basic things were never in tsw. Its about rushed out content and cuts, features which apparently have to go for stuff like elevators, guardmode ....

I like going forward with new features but DTG got far away from their path. Too much is not right.

    10 steps back

With the rumors that WCML south was greatly outsourced, i get the same feel here. It's impossible that the 114 was developed by the same personal that developed the 143, 112 and especially not the same who did the vectron(s). The difference in quality is telling.

*Edit : does Frankfurt Fulda has even one working lift ? :D

It's realistic, they are broken 90% of the time IRL, too. Same with escelators but Offenbach Marktplatz Station is not in the game (yet) :)

While I do think that dropping a working P/G/R selector is a disappointing cut corner, as a practical matter, both in game and in real life, the 114s are only used on passenger services and would only ever use R.

You might couple the loco on the end of a freight train to haul the 114 from a to b. Thats not happening in R

A cutback in the brakesystem is totally inacceptable. I wanted to refund tsw5, unfortunately my driving time exceeded 2 hours due using the 101 expert extensively on Frankfurt - Fulda. Currently no plans to buy any DTG dlcs in the future.

My hopes are high that another expert line loco might find its way into TSW.

The brakes on BR 114 still don't work at all, especially with a 10-car train, making it difficult to stop without emergency braking.

Few months later, BR 114 brakes still does not work except emergency braking - scenario Pull! is unplayable, I turned it off after failed braking into first station.. two months from release aren’t enough to fix something that important like brakes are?!

The obvious conclusion is, the BR114 brakes aren't as important as other stuff at DTG.

You can still complete that scenario, turn off the brakes by putting the brake key to the off position in the Dosto cab car and you’re good to go. I don’t think DTG will ever fix this and personally I avoid using the 114 at all, the only update we’ll get is the usual “we’re aware of the issue and our team is actively working on it”.

Im almost sure this loco wasnt made by DTG.

To me the 114 looks like a creation from somebody with a massive lack of knowledge on german locos combined with the lack of quality control on DTGs side.

Im sure the 114 autor didnt look a single time to the existing 143. Unfortunately my original message of this thread remains: its a bad joke compared to what top qualiy german locos are in tsw by now.

Just like the old 112 once again, some things never change:)
Of course not, they looked at the existing 112:)

I don't recall much being wrong with the 112's physics, just the 3D model (wrong lights)

BR 112 also did not have working brakes in the beginning. I remember launching HBK for the first time, stopping at station and doing the usual routine with holding the train with loco brake.. and seeing it go on an adventure unmanned.

The 114 featured in patch notes as regard to the brakes. I assumed it had been fixed....
Again can we have an official response on this please DTG?
    Cheers.

Can confirm the 114 brakes are still broken. The pull scenario can be worked around by going into the dosto cab and switching off the brake key. I'm yet to find a solution for the timetable services in Journey mode though (particularly those with another loco on the back).

It's the opposite for me. When TSG is doing the locos as a 2nd party for DTG (which has now been the norm for years), you usually end up with good-quality stuff. It's when DTG does a German loco in-house that things turn out questionable.

Can the problem simply be that the Dosto brake key is wrongly On by default, thus killing the loco brake controls?

Yes for that scenario - but on the other journey mode services - I have been through every cab and no additional brake keys are on.

Any updates on the 114? Played a journey today an still no working brakes. Only thing that makes the train brake is setting the AFB to 10km/h and then finish it of nearby the stopping position.

for me it works tho not the best, but still better than 112... e-braking with force selector is kinda slow but works, and regular braking could be better but is passable... I usually do what some ppl suggested on these forums - check dosto cab car, turn brake key on, put brakes into 7 or full, brake key off, and then back to loco... not sure if it does anything but it makes sure that nothing hinders you from the other end

some ppl reported that the brake key in dosto cab car is sometimes set up as on, which screws with brakes

seems to work with 114, but 112 is still broken, last time I checked... tried the same thing with it, didnt seem to help... which is a shame, cos I got a super cool livery on 112 that I had worked many hrs on, and cant use it now

The electric brakes still don't work on the 114, seems to only make a difference if you put it into Full/Emergency - To note, the dosto cab brake key was off.

So, 6 months in and still no fix despite early promises… Sadly it feels like this is the norm now. I’m beginning to wonder if there’s much life left in this game :(

No there is not we are already over halfway through the shelf life of this edition. So once DTG release the S-bahn route thats it.

They say they are still continuing looking at fixing bugs, but historically we know this is not the full truth.

This is the time of year that the next version is being worked on full speed ahead. So all they bugs they are working on fixing are so they are not in the next edition of the game.

And as usual the new version will be released and a month later they will release a patch for the old game fixing less than half the bugs and then annouce they have stopped support for TSW5.

    Good morning folks,

I've raised the issue with the brakes for the BR 114 in a recent meeting, and this is going to be looked into again. From what we understand the issue was fixed on PC, but not consoles. Please let me know if this issue still persists on PC, so I can flag this with our team.
I'll also flag that the same issue is appearing on the BR 112 today.

    All the best,
    Jan

awesome... because both locos are fun exactly for the way they are operated, besides being fairly nimble :) ... so being able to stop em in orderly fashion is also paramount :)

I mean, the issue of the brakes straight up not working is indeed not there on PC, but they're still a bit messed up...

An emergency brake from a standstill not only doesn't trigger, but actually *removes* the traction lock, so the train in emergency brake with the AFB handle on any speed actually still tries to go....
Try putting the brake lever into emergency then cycling the AFB lever off and then back on, the traction lock goes away and you start skidding in place (?!?)

And also as I noticed while testing this...all wheels seem fused with different parts of the bogies and sanding system, and while spinning take them around with them with weird distortions and blurs...what the hell?
