Acknowledge, but we can still deplore it.

    Jasper isn't listening.

He's working on his new project right now, and leaving DTG to clean-up the WCML South mess.

ECML is a subjective one, but it's one of my favourite routes because of it's length. But I'm aware the mileage is higher because it's spread out and less intense route.

London Commuter, again one of my favourites and is probably the best for and end to end run, but it's certainly at the higher end of the TSW mileage limit because of how busy and full of scenery the route is.

WCML we would of all loved to go to Birmingham or Rugby. But, we have to accept that with dense and packed city scenery this reduces the ability to be able to make a larger route. But the section of the WCML picked probably has the most to offer and a good amount of services to run. It's in the Goldy lock zone of being just right... We've got a London terminal, we've got a regional station outside of London. You can run partial InterCity runs. You can do full end to end stopping services from Euston to Milton Keynes. Freight... The DC Overground like which is like a route inside of a route! It's a good bloody section of WCML with so much variety and potential (that looks to be fully implemented with the next update). And with Liam's work on this, it's looking to be everything we were originally promised.

DTG can never please everyone, but they did chose the right section for the game and within the limitations of the software. Although the 390 absolutely zooms by... So maybe at some point a section of track to give it some track to stretch it's legs... Modern day Carlisle to Glasgow Central?

Someone will do Carlisle to Glasgow, it's only a matter of time.
Whether it's DTG or Just Trains, it remains to be seen.

I think ECML is better in terms of optimisations, no crashes and issues on that route. But WCML From Watford Junction to Euston is a problem as there are issues in terms of hard stuttering and crashes which mostly tend to be around the Euston area, but i have had it around Wembley yard as well in guard mode

DTG have no interest in WCML North, that's why they left it to Keith Ross in TSC.

Problem is, if Just Trains want to make WCML North, they might have to get permission from DTG to use their Glasgow Central station asset and do a 1980s remodel of it.

If Just Trains are in fact releasing a class 86 loco DLC, it would make sense for them to do WCML North, whilst also providing a longer run for their class 87.

... Unless they go South with WCML Preston to Crewe instead?

My head hurts thinking about it all. :)

Someone from JT has already said they won't be doing a Carlisle to Glasgow as Glasgow Central and the suburbs are too difficult to do with the team/technology they have. I think they'll go south to Crew

Just a suggestion, but it would have been great to take the route as far as Northampton on the slow lines, only downside is there's no stopping for the 390s until rugby so they would have been ai only from Milton Keynes,(Myself i wouldn't have found that a huge deal).., It would still keep it realistic until you branch at roade cutting ,Sure then it would only be the 350s and freight from MK to Northampton that would be drivable ,390s do occasionally go via Northampton but only if there's a diversion, and that doesn't happen that much, don't think this extension would get made but from DTG it's well within there scope.

    Understandable.

It took Keith Ross 2 years to make WCML North for TSC a decade ago, so he's definitely not interested in doing it again.

I'm still super excited for the revamped WCMLS, honestly it's like it going to be re-released for me!

Matt mentioned the 350 is getting a revamp in terms of physics and a few other things (minus the suspension improvements). Any idea what those 350 improvements will be?

I still believe it will happen, someone will take a crack at it. Too prestigious a route not to be in the sim.

Well the model is good and sounds are fine so besides suspension and the physics overhaul I can’t really think of anything except bug fixes, PIS, sounds cutting out etc.

I’d say those improvements are more specific to the route/timetable rather than the 350 itself.

I don't want to fill in the blanks, but that must mean other 350 sub class numbers have been added to cater for 8/12 car formations?

Maybe duplicate trains or something, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up on the necessary changes being made to actually make a /1 a /4. Assume no until proven otherwise.

As I've said many times before on probably this or other threads, if it was to happen it would be along the same level as the 377/4 posing as a 377/1... No physical changes or sub class differences, just a greater number range to cater for the time table.

Said it before, saying it again...still no fix to the AI 350s at night with no saloon lighting. No word from DTG on fixing this, so assuming this won't be sorted in time for the big update.

    Oh that's great to hear!
There have also been quite a few reports of 350s causing abnormally high memory usage, has this also been looked into?

This new free patch for WCML South better fix the one thing I am disappointed in. The timetable and lack of AI services.

Would be nice to know which layers there will be on the new update with the sale going on if possible please DTG Liam . For example if 08 is in the route, TVL might be worth buying in the sale.

I don't think one train would ever have over 800+ services plus what they already have on the route. Unless they run a train every second. Considering it is using fawx's timetable for many of the services, expect it to be 800+ across the board

Once I have the final timetable confirmed I'll get a layer list made up for the release article. There is an 08 on the timetable currently which comes from Diesel Legends of the Great Western and an 09 from West Somerset Railway.

I'd hope more people start looking at WCMLS once the update is out. Didn't play it much myself on release but with the route upgrades and a timetable over twice the size of the original it's now one of my personal favourites for service variety and a bit of train spotting, particularly around Bletchley or Watford Junction.

I definitely think JT will do something in the North West. Maybe Leeds to Carlisle via Settle.
Or extend their current network either to Manchester or down to Crewe as someone mentioned in here.

If anyone is doing Carlisle to Glasgow it would be Rivet. JT are doing the NW, ATS are doing the NW, I wish the East had a dedicated developer who made loads of routes and new traction.

Personal preferences about the era aside, I don't think you can really compare them.

One is a shorter urban run into the capital, with a wide variety of fast, semi fast and commuter services, serving a large amount of stations. The other is a longer rural run in the countryside with only expresses, with just a handful of stations to serve. Just because they're both the "WCML" doesn't mean it's appropriate to compare them. They're both aiming to be different experiences.

If the new wcml has only 8 stations then what will the 101 be used for just the Morecombe branch of the route

I will, I rarely go on it now because I know the Timetable is bare bones. But having new layers and over 800 services will definitely see me going on it more. Right now it's in my bottom three of least played UK routes along with Cross City and Manchester-Glossop.

This is for Euston to Milton Keynes. But yeah it'll probably be mostly Carnforth/Lancaster and Morecambe with AI 101s appearing at Carlisle and Preston.

I hope not, Rivet, I really do. Not unless they can get another developer working on it too.

From a cross-sales point of view, I would guess Just trains are likely to do something with a stretch of WCML in it. If not North of Carlisle as people have stated, then South of Preston. That way layers from Blackpool Branches, Preston-Carlisle and what we all believe to be the standalone class 86 DLC can all be used.
JT have made a niche now for BR in the 80s and I think they'll do at least one more route set around this timeline as it helps sells more units of their other DLC.
I so want them to do Glasgow-Carlisle, it's the ultimate route imo, but if they go south, Preston to Crewe would be good mileage and there's plenty of options if you wanted to branch off somewhere for a nice little DMU run.

Would be a good time for a sale around that time for said dlc's then, as the Diesel Legends is one of the few UK ones I haven't got yet.:)

Good points well made! What I probably should have said is in its current state -post upgrade it will be a different ball game. And part of me would like to take an 87 and Mark 3's out of Euston.

As stated I'm really excited for the upgrade...

I can see WCMLS becoming a modern equivalent of London Commuter and probably one of the most played routes now it's been given the love it deserves. It has HUGE potential... So absolutely excited for it!!

In terms of JTs release, I'm absolutely buzzing for it too, but I don't think it'll shadow WCMLS update. They are different kettles of fish and appeal for different reasons. But I'd imagine they will be equally popular.

Can I ask Liam whether the numbers on the 350 will be duplicated or if a higher number range has been added?

Regarding the 350's numbering I can't say for sure as I don't have a hand in that side of stuff but something I can ask about.
