third parties under NDA I suppose, though the developer of the US route occasionally shows up here also, since it is completely different territory from Poland, most, if not all assets, have to be modeled, textured, animated and what else. Teamwork, while perhaps these 3rd parties are single person crews?
Searchlight Simulations seem to bounce around their projects, last I saw some of them were working on some MILW locos and a NJT Geep for TSC. Nothing new for their Simrail route.
Will be interesting to see if they do steam better than TSW but without progress on the SP game and a save feature the game is pretty stagnant for me now.
yes, it seems the SimRail devs are evading those questions/challenges about a dependable single player and save feature. About the picture with the steam locomotive, some DR Krieglok derivate it seems, it might be perspective distortion, or those large octopus headlights, but the loco seems too small, too low of height compared to the passenger cars coupled to it. Also, 2" gas pipes as overhead wires don't cut it for me. TSW already is bad in this aspect, since the wires are black instead of copper oxide green. 3 KV DC catenary is 'fatter' than 25 KV AC, but those heavy looking wires should be avoided as they oppress your view out of the cab through the front windows.
Infos from the official Discord: "Another beautiful day at the Kraków Główny station ⏳️ The early access phase is coming to the end, next week we will publish date of relase the full version of the game, follow our channels! Answers to questions from the October Q&A have now been posted on our discussion board. Your questions were answered by @Szociu You can check it out here https://forum.simrail.eu/topic/9336-qa-102024/ "
which means there isn't and won't be a 'save' function in the first official release, planned soon if I got the somewhat sparse communications correctly. also, with the devs set to get the sim out on consoles, it will turn into to a game, with the same frivolities like TSW, scores, rewards achievements, rankings, collectibles and more such stuff catering to gamers. so we'll see after the official release how things go and whether any of the announced 'foreign' DLC shows up in the Steam Store shortly thereafter
SINGLEPLAYER AI trains in singleplayer optimalisation Pc2 signal (train running on the left track) should now be displayed correctly by AI drivers Catenary voltage can now be set and controlled by LUA scripts
It looks that way and still no save game means SimRail currently top of my hit list if I need the HD space for something else.
I would probably look at it closer if it had a TSW type timetable as something different alongside TSW. I'm just not interested in multiplayer though. Shame about the lack of save game, although DTG's can be as useful as a chocolate fireguard at times
Work done between November 18th and 22nd, 2024: Tunel - Kraków Route extension Finishing work on the route Katowice - Sędziszów '80s Route: Further catenary work between Katowice and Olkusz Finishing work between Sędziszów and Tunel VEHICLES Olive, '80s-style 1st and 2nd class carriage repaints, as well as new, sleeping carriages in three different liveries were added Ty2-70, Ty2-347 and Ty2-477 vehicle textures added SIM Track switch switching animation improved Further acheivement system development Many bugs when coupling and uncoupling vehicles were fixed Stability improvements for when changing player vehicles Second HUD display bar added for multitraction The "2" camera is now working correctly when changing driving direction in multitraction New LUA command to switch train physics from dummy to full or simple
What they ended up doing is making a portion of the old Galizien Karl Ludwig Bahn Krakau Hbf area. DTG LAMP that one is a predecessor of the current Austrian Federal railways ÖBB so is the old Kaschau-Oderberg Bahn KOB
They have like strange communication. They have made a schedule that doesn't work at all and they are just quiet. 2 routes one in USA and one in Germany and no information even after 2 years. First access even after soon 2 year.
Looks Early access end 13 dec. It seems to have taken the team almost 2 years to develop the Tunnel to Krakow route. So a completely new route is then 4 years of development? Ok 3+ Month it could be years In January 2024, we received this road map. No new information has arrived as far as I know (road map info). June 2023 we got this March 2023 we got this
The lack of a save game still kills it for me. And now we have the 87 in TSW, assuming JT and DTG can null the sound rubber banding, we have a loco that sounds nearly as good as the EU07 with nearly unlimited gameplay.
But I must take back that they are completely silent. But they could be much better how they envision the future with simrail. But the had a Q&A in Oct Picking up some answers here EN: What is the real reason for the delays (relative to what was originally envisaged and communicated, even indicatively) of the work on new content? I can understand delays of a week, two, yes, even maybe a month, but now we are still waiting for ‘content’ that was originally announced probably a year ago? I also understand that the deadlines are ‘indicative’, but ‘indicative’ is not +- a year/half a year. EN: The topic has been discussed a number of times - above all the addition of content that was not originally planned - the route to Kraków, Sędziszów ‘80, the EN57, ETCS and many other elements that pulled us away from working on closing the basic version. We try to listen to the suggestions of the community and many of the expected features have been implemented as a result, but all of them require time and testing. In addition, we had to commit some of our efforts to the development of the console version of the game, so that its release would be close in time to the game's exit from Early Access. For example - the preparation of the EN57 unit, from taking measurements to its completion in the game, took more than six months. EN: Do you plan to expand the studio, hire more developers to speed up the pace of work? EN: Yes, once the game is out of early access, at this point training new people would only slow things down. EN: When is the game scheduled for release on the Xbox Series? EN: Work on the Xbox version is nearing completion and the game will soon enter the testing and Microsoft certification phase. EN: At what stage of work are the foreign routes? EN: After the release of the full version of the game, we will publish information on the additions that are being made, but work is still ongoing. EN: Is the development of the simulator (and its promised features: mechanical signalboxes, shunting, etc.) slowed down by the development of Polish DLC and other sims, or is there a technical reason behind having part of the team work on the latter instead of completing SimRail? EN: The shunting has been added to singleplayer mode and it is workine fine. Shunting in multiplayer mode requires more changes and at this point we are unable to indicate when this will take place. Work on mechanicals is ongoing all the time, independent of our other projects. EN: There are concerns within the community about the project's long-term sustainability, particularly regarding funding. Could you share your plans for attracting new investors, and do you see the expansion of routes outside Poland (such as those in Germany or the US) as a potential strategy to secure additional investment and grow the game's international appeal? EN: The project is financially stable and we do not foresee any problems in this subject. However, we cannot share details on this matter, due to the contracts that have been concluded. In addition, SimRail S.A. is in the process of being listed on the stock exchange, which will ultimately further accelerate its growth. EN: When will the editor function of simrail be implemented? Will we be able to repaint the locos/waggons (allready in simrail) in future SDKs? EN: Yes there will be such a possibility. The editor exists, but once completed, it needs to be tidied up before being made available to the community. EN: In singleplayer mode, do you plan to make the dispatcher mode, which has been available in multiplayer from the start, accessible in the future? EN: In the future, when we can efficiently embed the interlock server inside the game, we plan to introduce this possibility.
Read that at the time and at the time pointed out they still gloss over the save game, or having a full TSW style all day timetable.
It is maybe included on 13 Dec. They write and much more. If you look at 1-3 months, everything (Lua editor?) is included except just the save game
We'll see what the developers have actually completed soon when the sim goes out of Early Access. But I don't hold my breath regarding save feature and sensible single player operations with intelligent AI and auto-dispatcher. Seems this developer too has fallen for the lure of constant revenue by the console market, or was forced to make such a decision by their financial backers. Currently still also in Early Access: RailRoader and TrainPlanet, plus some online only Steam games set in the 19th century of USA. RailRoader is still very much alive and kicking, while TrainPlanet seems stillborn.
the stream of the upcoming tunel - krakow section. Looks atmospheric! Kraków nadchodzi... - Przedpremierowy Lajt Kolejowy! [SimRail] - YouTube
Gonna pick this game up soon, been Hella hyped for it for awhile. Hopefully it'll be a good experience
It looks good but still effectively multiplayer only. Will probably give the new route and the steam loco a try when it drops but just so frustrating they continue to put single player and a save game on the backburner.
I've watched yesterday polish stream and it seems that the save game options is still in development but it will be at some point
Here is the English/German preview. Mainly about multiplayer mode, signalbox, multitraction. www.twitch.tv/videos/2324947992
You're not Goy Bence, hungarian route builder are you? We are missing some assets on your TSC Balaton route
Is the game worth reinstalling now for driving in single player after the update? Are there many new single player stock scenarios included, or better wait until some new/updated community scenarios will appear? I'm guessing there is still no save function, so are the new scenarios shorter than 2 hours?
So I just tried the TY2 tutorial (fireman part) and in my personal opinion it is the best steam locomotive simulation I have ever tried. Here are some pictures of the injectors to show exactly where they are: Ashflaps right: Soo im not a steam expert but what is the difference between the left and right injector? Just the speed of the water filling ? Or is it the one on the right that mixes the steam with the water and thus allows hotter water into the boiler ? Funfact if you have braking hard you lose some water. (And yes it simulated the water movement in the tender.) And yes the fireman/driver is talking to you in Polish but if I understood correctly he is repeats back the meaning of the next signal.
What I gathered in the stream I watched a couple of days ago it was the next signal meaning and whether level crossing is closed (if it isn't, then you should see 20km/h speed limit approaching on the HUD). I will need to free up some disk space to install it again (likely by uninstalling some other railway driving/building games), so I will probably install it closer to holidays to check it out.

It depends on the locomotive. Some just have two so there's a backup in case of failure and so there are injectors accessible by both the driver and fireman. On some one uses steam from the boiler and the other uses exhaust steam. Unfortunately I won't be enjoying the steam simulation as I refuse to buy a game that locks most of its content behind multiplayer - and thus lock forever when the servers go down - for no good reason.
I was about to ask if steam had gone live. Most excellent news. Think I’ll be firing that up (no pun intended) later for a try. Shame on you DTG for your puny efforts in TSW, followed by abandonment.
Sorry for double post, but looking on the SimRail Steam forum, looks like 1.0 has released with lots of issues? Or is that just one or two people having a bad day?
Update. Had a little play around with a SP scenario on the Krakow route. Looking very nice and the EN57 is always a pleasure to drive, except when you forget to quickly lap the brakes and the whole lot goes in. A bit of judder but nothing like what TSW is giving at the moment. And yes, the biggest frustration continues to be - the scenario is around 100 minutes in length but I had to come after 40 minutes, with no way to save it or even skip forward to the last station I called at. So much potential here - the route is becoming the Eastern European equivalent of SoCal in Run 8 - but not being exploied as it could be.
