    Hi,
Just a small question here regards the Class 08 shunter. I see in there is a good list of these with different headings. Can any on tell what is the difference in these are? Also what does Shap mean?

I just took this picture yesterday to add into my desktop backgrounds. The one on the far right is from Tees Valley, the others are all from WCML Over Shap. There are more 08s than this, so I'll list them in order of release:

Tees Valley - Features red buffer beams and unique depot branding. (Far right in the picture)
BR Heavy Freight Pack - A standardised 08 with yellow buffer beams and no depot branding, the majority of layered shunting services on other routes use this. Handling of controls was also tweaked and improved, such as speeding up brake handle movement on consoles.
Diesel Legends - Identical to Heavy Freight
Blackpool Branches 08 BLU Crewe - Features new exhaust smoke, a completely retextured cab, suspension physics, reshaded blue paintwork and black buffer beams as well as a few other tweaks to bring it in line with the appearance of a 08 built in Crewe, whereas the previous versions (I believe, correct me if wrong) were depicted in Derby condition. Performance was also overhauled and has remained the standard for all following 08s, though these are only usable in the two JT routes and West Somerset. (Second in the picture)
Blackpool Branches 08744 - Features all of the improvements of the Crewe version, but features the unique modifications made to Preston station's pilot shunter in 1986. (Far left in the picture)
WCML Shap 08744 - Identical to the Blackpool 08744.
WCML Shap Type A - Identical to the Blackpool Crewe variant.
WCML Shap Type B - Features red buffer beams and, uniquely, orange side rods rather than yellow. (Third in the picture)
WCML Shap Type C - Features yellow buffer beams, effectively JT's vastly improved version of the Heavy Freight version. (Fourth in the picture)
WCML Shap Type C Weathered - Type C absolutely caked in limestone dust, built uniquely for a shunting service in Shap.
WCML Shap Type D - Features red buffer beams and red lining above the wheels, effectively Tees Valley without the depot branding. (Fifth in the picture)

I believe the four types Just Trains has featured depict the different livery variations that the different builders of the 08s would come out with, as the works at Crewe, Darlington, Doncaster, Derby and Horwich all built them. I know that Shap Type A/Blackpool BLU was the Crewe version, I think the NTP one was Derby but I'm not 100% on that, someone with more livery knowledge than myself would be able to answer that.

It's Shap summit, the highest point of elevation on the route and a popular trainspotting location. It's just a more common way to say what the route actually is, WCML Preston - Carlisle.

Sorted, You can tell I'm not a train spotter. Mind you I did back in the 50's watching the Midland Pullman going through Kettering.
