Posted this elsewhere, but as this is the offical thread... Fantastically Fantastic! but then it was always going to be! I've not delved into the 87 yet, just sat as a passenger in the MK3 from Lancaster to Carlisle, just to tease myself knowing I'm being hauled by an 87 and wanting to drive the thing, just reliving my youth! I did notice a couple of things about the Mk3. The 'No Smoking' signs just seem to disappear when moving, it's as if they've been placed on the outside window, it'll sometimes comeback, it gets hidden behind the scenery when the train is moving, strange! The IC Mk3 interior, now as I remember, the first time I stepped in one was around 1986 ( it was quite rare to see any Mk3 set in Chester on the Holyhead-London, usually a Mk2e/f set) but I'm sure at the end of the corridor on both sides by the door, there were 3 diagonal red stripes, be nice if these were added. Now this maybe that I didn't have my sounds loud enough and with other background noise but when the Mk3's were pulling into the station, I didn't hear the whining and hissing these sets made, again it could just be me though. I'm not going out this weekend so it looks like I'll be spending many hours on this route. Thanks JT, simply brilliant.
The following layers are listed as "Not Owned" to me, even though they apparently should be available since I own TVL/31/20 and WCL: "Teatime" (TVL) "Vans" (WCL) "KingmoorWagons" (WCL/TVL/PCA/PGA) "CarlisleTripWorkings" (WCL/TVL/PCA/PGA) The other DLC I would need are not listed, or, if no other DLC is required for these layers, then they are just not working. Any information would be appreciated. This on Series S
Trying to amend a scenario I wrote for Blackpool Branches to include the 87 at Preston as AI. Only passenger services it allows me are Mk3as, I can not see any consists involving the Mk2 coaches...
I have successfully ran the first three journey services with no crashes on Series S. The first two were with TVL/31/20 installed, the third with the addition of WCL thrown in. However, I did get a crash in the scenario where you drive a liner that stops on all the loops. It was when I was completely stopped and a passenger service was about to overtake. The screen went completely black with CTD. It was unexpected since I wasn't even moving. Frequent saves are the order of the day, as they have been since at least LBN.
Does anyelse noticed you can't turn off the train heating from the cab in the Class87? I uses the relay at the moment that works to.
Well in one sense it is a core bug, in that it's clear that it's something about the core code causing it. In another sense it isn't, because it can be fixed on the DLC end.
Yes, / is the default. On Xbox it's X + LB, which I only found out recently. The 101 brakes are certainly quicker on and off, which I find better now I've nearly (!) got used to them. Their sounds however are a bit wimpier than the other 101s in game. Hey ho, on the whole I'll take it!
On PC Steam Loving the route. After watching a video about someone trying to get the pacer to 100mph, I thought I would try.I got it up to 97, Something I noticed last night was when you spawn into the Lancaster North Junction I was at the bottom of the steps upto the bridge over the River Lune. From there I had a walk around parts of Lancaster then over to Heysham and then up the coast to Carnforth. I then ended up walking into the Lancaster Canal and got stuck, I am not sure if I was supposed to be able to walk so much. This was without any mods as well. Picture is of Heysham
During the rescue scenario, Operationally would you not drop the pantograph on the Class 87 before hauling the train? I was thinking about it as I pulled away from the loop, and at Penrith when we stopped for passengers I actually got out and went to the Class 87 cab and dropped the pantograph. Not sure what the protocol would be IRL but I felt like the panto should be down.
Haven't read the entire thread so don't know if it's been already mentioned... But, the Mk3s are missing their distinctive squeaky sounds when leaving or arriving at a station. The HST variant Mk3s in GWE have it so don't know how easy it would be to reuse the sounds from that?
Yeah, I mentioned it earlier, wasn't sure if it was just me. I tested again today with volume LOUD and no background noise, the whining and hissing noises are not there, hopefully can be rectified in a patch or itsya165 makes a sound pack.
From my frequent experience travelling on the Cobblers back in the day, when the 1723 ex Euston almost invariably an 81, 82, 83 or 85 and predictably at least once a fortnight sitting down somewhere on route, once the assisting loco arrived and was attached it was pan down on the knacker if not already.
This window sticker bug also happens on the Scotrail class 380 DLC on Cathcart Circle. If it doesn't happen on other platforms (PC and PlayStation 4/5), it could be related to the "Z-Fighting" textures bug that is exclusive to the XBOX versions of TSW. Can anybody on PC or PS4 / PS5 manage to recreate this bug?
Found myself with a bit of a wait at Lancaster on the Barrow Mail... A few observations... Love the station lighting. Love the fact that just after I took this picture an 87 hauled Freightliner roared through on the centre road. The Gents toilet with the high level cistern was interesting and no you can't flush it. Oh and there were more passengers in evidence on the Up platform when the next passenger service is booked to call, than there were at Carlisle on P3 around midday for a train to Scotland!! But how I love this route. Quick edit: Having now seen a bit of the route at night, one thing which would complete the experience is some Mark III sleeping cars for the overnight trains. No way a show stopper but it is a bit incongruous seeing the night trains go by just formed of day coaches.
Just had a quick check with my laptop. Didn't see the no smoking sticker disappear but what I did notice is that the reflection of the interior lights seemed to move with the scenery.
Well, what a route! I am blown away, JT have raised the bar yet again. We're very lucky. Just had my first run, a nice spirited run up to Carlisle, Class 87 is a nice challenge but I managed to keep to time (ish) as you can see below. 87006 'City of Glasgow' my first drive. I missed one neutral section and shut the power off too quickly on one occasion, but what an absolute pleasure and challenge to drive! A little bit different to just driving modern EMU's up and down in TSW. Scenery is stunning, after some initial doubts about the distant hills, from some early screenshots, I think JT pulled it off. No complaints here. Performance absolutely superb as well Now admittedly the setting of 1986 is a little out of my interest, I prefer early/mid 1990's think Railfreight/Trainload Sector/pre-Privatisation to anything up to the present day but that hasn't put me off one bit. Stations are modelled wonderfully, and did I mention the scenery?! Just incredible. Sounds for the Class 87 very authentic, physics/acceleration/braking all seem very realistic and keep you immersed throughout. There's not a dull moment! I did have that brake pressure issue others mentioned though? But that didn't affect me much. I'm going to say it, because there's nothing I could criticise apart from my personal preference of the era that it's set which is no fault of JT, just my personal feelings. Overall - 10/10 (and Just Trains I absolutely mean that, there's no criticism here that I can think of, have spotted or was intentionally looking for! Thank you for providing the most brilliant escape in TSW, hopefully this is just the start of what's to come for this route and we see continued development) Thank you Just Trains and all involved, well done!
I caught a double heading container train by coincidence, while driving the "Currock Collection" scenario. Not sure if this is only AI or drivable from the timetable, though. JT Benedict Else: The more I drive the route, the more I fall in love with it. So many custom made assets, so much love to detail. This is a real master piece and €40,00 well spent.
I can not say anything negative about this route, it is just awesome. There is one thing i noticed though when doing the christmas scenario, i had to turn of 'arcing spark effects' because this jumps to this for a split second and that flash is incredible annoying. But then you need to be at night with snow and arcing on The effect is greater in game than on screenshots. PS: this might be a core issue too, as sparks on the BRclass 365 are visible too
There is something odd happening when it’s windy on the route though, at least on ps5. When the wind blows some of the trees appear to bend over almost 90 degrees and there are some odd black artifacts I’ve spotted too when this happens….. somebody will now say it’s a known core issue I suspect…..
Small niggle. I did Guard mode on 1p79 Euston Barrow. Whilst checking tickets passengers were sat in first class with 2nd class tickets. In fact all tickets were 2nd class.
I am on PC mate, it only seems to be happening in the Inter City livery coaches, not the BR Blue ones. Also, sound isn't great on the MK3's, needs sound occlusion, I can hear birds, dogs & cows whilst travelling at 100mph and when the horn on the 87 blasts for departure, cover your ears!! Also, track joint sounds need making louder and we really need the unique whining and hissing noises made by these carriages. The MK3's are the only gripe I have TBH, everything else is sublime, though the timetable does seem quiet compared to BPO. I'm yet to drive the 87, been having fun travelling as a passenger and driving the 40 & 47 at full thrash
Not sure if I’ve seen it mentioned but has anyone had an unsolicited brake application straight away on loading into a save game? Just happened to me, short distance out of Carlisle. AWS switched in but not DSD. Got out the drivers chair and toggled the AWS changeover and isolation switches off then on again and eventually got going again. Oh and JT can you please look at fixing the weather on the Journey runs. This is the third one and yet again after leaving Carlisle the weather has deteriorated from fair to torrential rain and probably thunderstorm. Yes I know there is something of a core issue with how quickly and predictably dynamic weather changes and never goes back, in which case please keep clear of it in at least some of the Journey trips.
Yes, i had the same issue, loading a game goes into a unstoppable brake. And yes, weather is core i think
For JT: On the 87 when pressing the Train Heat Off button it moves and you get a sound but the Train Heat light stays illuminated. I'm running the sim on a PC. Update: I wrote the above after finding the ETH switched on with the loco on a freightliner service. Coupled to the Mk3 stock, other passenger stock not tested, switching off the heat does work as expected - how odd. Shouldn't it be impossible to turn on the ETH when there's no continuity of the ETH circuit through the stock attached to the loco anyway?
I've noticed that if you're running a double headed train you need to turn off ETH in both locos (which I think is more likely prototypical than not), and if you are running a freight service you can't turn it off at all.
It's crazy that the 87 appears on GWE in the Diesel Legends pack. But I had to have a go!! Managed to reach 120 before the wires ran out at Hayes.
The Heysham Branch ? JT didn't make it drivable, because the correct freight wagons don't exist in TSW yet.... Maybe we'll get it updated later if somebody makes the rolling stock for it.
Love the route few little minor points: The MK3 seem to lack their distinctive sound and restaurant car misses the hum/ whine. I cant see to get guard mode working on 87 services with MK3. Everytime I send 2 on the bell it says "guard has left train" and ends scenario.
PS5: First go at shunting with the Class 08 and I had to delete the Class 47 I was meant to be delivering the parcel carriages to in order to complete the service. Otherwise you get stuck on an infinite red before where you are meant to deliver the consist. I can only assume the AI 47 or dispatcher isn't doing what it's supposed to as I felt like I was doing everything the game wanted me to do. Service was 16.59 OU05 Upperby shunting.
The flatcars with steel are missing audio, except for the rail joints on most of the cars. This has been an issue since Tees Valley line, and still to this day has never been fixed. I was hoping with this route it would finally be fixed. I'm really bummed because I would love to haul steel, but without sound it's just not right. I'm on xbox series x, do people on PC or PS have this issue as well?
I've also noticed this on PC. I guess it might just be a slight bug due to them being open maybe, or just that box, not sure.
For anyone having the brake issue after saving, my workaround is to only save when stationary. On reloading, put the brake to full service, reverser to off, key out and back in and then the brake pipe will recharge. I also press DSD & AWS reset just to be sure.
Constant red signal on the last rail tour in class 20 after getting into the sidings near Carslile(after you run under the bridge). There are no trains visible on the map to wait for. So Idk why this happens.
Just noticed this while driving the Shap Class 101 on the Blackpool-Preston DLC on PC, lots bending trees around Moss Side going to Blackpool South. Sunny weather with wind set to 7-10%. So maybe this issue is wider than just Preston-Carlisle. Seems like distant low-res version of trees have bugs, because everythings gets back to normal when getting closer.
On PS5, there are some 2 car 101 services labelled as Preston-Carlisle on the timetable that go as far as Carnforth. Not sure if the timetable is wrong or the path is wrong.
Only the Seacow and Turbot wagons come from WCL. "Vans" are from either NTP route or the NTP Heavy Freight pack DLC. I'm guessing labels or tags got mixed-up when they were adding layers to the route, and it's broken something?
Another quality of life feature added would be the cab window being free to be put in any position, rather than all the way up or all the way down. Allows just the right mix of traction motor
They are Preston to Carlisle services but they go via the Cumbrian Coast hence you finish the service at Carnforth.
Fantastic!!! One question or problem, i have Flyong Scotman DLC but locomotive don't appear in time mode
Apologies if already mentioned but departing Lancaster in the Up direction you are hit with a 10 MPH speed restriction that doesn't appear on the HUD (and surely it wasn't that slow IRL?). Also the brake application on the 87 loading a saved game is becoming a bit of a drag. Now running nearly 20 late as the second time on this run it went in at line speed. Surely this was picked up during testing, along with the tap changer not staying in position and powering on resume?
