Just Trains Myb To Ban And West Highland Kyle Line Routes

Correction, I do not have a 68/Mk3 consist, but do have a scotrail one. Back into TS

 

Onward. I have edited the consist in TS Tools and swapped out the Chiltern Mk3's for FGW Mk3's and lo, they appear in the scenario when I run it. Going back in, I substituted 1 FGW for a Chiltern from the "available stock" and just got the couplers again.

So the next step is try to compare the files or attempt a re-skin. Haven't tried that as yet but there are some tutorials in TS Tools

 

Have you looked in the folder for the Chiltern carriages, are there any Geopdx files?

 

Hi, compared to the FGW folders there is a whole lot of stuff missing. I know each carriage has A,B,C D and buffet so definitely no Geopdx files. It is beginning to look like a corrupt load but I will persist!

 

The HST sets have the files you describe as the Coach Letter is on the outside
Chiltern sets only have two different coaches in railworks\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulator\RailVehicles\Diesel\HST\Mk3_2\Chiltern

One is a TSO


The other TSO is reskinned to represent a Buffet Car

 

If the above are yours, can you list the exact contents of the files, I can send you my email?

 

Looking in TS Tools the train is formed of the
Class 68 in Chiltern Livery then 5 Chiltern Mk3 Standard + 1 Chiltern Mk3 Business Zone
The path to the Mk3 Standard is railworks\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulator\RailVehicles\Diesel\HST\Mk3_2\Chiltern\Mk3TSO
Inside the Mk3TSO folder is this

I'm not sure about the mk3tso_AP.bin version if that is down to a sound pack I own

But you should not be messing about like this
If you have purchased this Add-on from Steam instead of Just Trains you should be contacting the DTG helpdesk to report the items you should have are missing.

as of today, waiting for DTG to analyse a Log I ran with their instructions. Even me looking at these in notepad, I can see a raft of stuff missing:

So it does appear to be broken big time!

 

You want to consider getting the game off the system drive and on to a separate one as the security on program files can and does cause issues.

 

I have now received a fix from DTG, downloaded and updated the necessary files - result = Chiltern liveried stock.

Now going to see if I can get the DVT sorted but that is another project.

The only way to get a Chiltern DVT is to buy the AP Class 90 pack from them

The DVT is a repaint of the one in this pack - I doubt it would work with the Class 90 GEML off Steam

Peter is correct, I had no end of issues with the chiltern DVT, had to swap it out in the end.

I bought the route yesterday in Steam. Only Class 37 doesn't start, only in this scenario.
Can you find, finally, any solution ?

The loco is in the scenario

 

All of them with Class 37

 

The loco is quite simple to drive.
In to Forward, release the train Brakes the open power.

Do a Free Roam with the Class 37 loco on any other route to see if that will drive.

 

I can confirm that I managed to run the default product (Class 37) on this scenario with no issue. I will also state that I purchased this direct from JustTrains via ATS (getting the discount). It may be an issue with the DTG version of the DLC.

As we've a multitude of class 37s, just which one is used in this scenario?

 

This is not a conclusion. This is facts and data. The version I have was procured directly from JustTrains. I have it running flawlessly on my pc. I do not have a copy purchased directly from DTG therefore I cannot state that procurement of this specific DLC from DTG would not cause a problem. As always Gary you are jumping right down other peoples throats! Give it a break!

 

so going by your own logic you have no evidence to state that it could/would. You may as well say "it's because the JT 37 doesn't work on Thursdays, maybe"
Instead of starting a list of ever unlikely reasons, why not suggest something that might actually help?

Xavier, when you put the loco into "Forward" does the AWS bell ring?

 

Gary you are a nasty piece of work. I took some time to test the product to see if it worked and it did.

FYI on my version I set the throttle to 120% , released the brake, set throttle to 35%. It took a few seconds to build up RPM and then took off. Seeing a throttle setting at 120% seems unusual. I usually use LocoSwap and replace this with a AP equivalent. I have checked 4 of the supplied Class 37 scenarios.

I have run this line a few times on this DLC and find the 200 minute ride with an AP version so much easier to control as it has a lot of undulation (as per real life in the Highlands). Use of the Hand Brake is very useful on this line.

So the JT model is set up differently and that suggests a DTG issue?..and it's the reverser that has the 120% setting (in fact it goes to 150% of you hold the lever) Try to be accurate at least!

..is what Just Trains supplied to DTG. DTG's only stipulation is that bundled scenarios do not need 3td party stock--on other words it runs straight out of the box. DTG make no changes.
It's true that a DTG/Steam version of any DLC may not get any patches/revisions applied to it, but given the age of the Kyle line and that there's no other reports of it causing bother it's unlikely to be a factor here.

 

I have not stated that this is a DTG issue. This is something that you have imposed in this thread. I stated the facts that the as purchased JT version was working fine on my pc. I did not have a version procured direct from DTG so I could not validate this. I know that you have scared people away from this forum by your bullying. OK, intimated then...whatever you want to call it it's of no help at all.

And as above, it might be because Thursday is the DTG 37's day off. It could be because of a multitude of reasons, all you've shown is that the JT procured version (and the AP 37) work.
So far all poor Xavier has received are posts stating that it's easy to drive, and other locos work...nobody's come out with anything useful; nobody's suggested that he post a screen shot of the contents of folders so we could possibly see if a required file is missing; and nobody has stated just which 37 is used.

 

According to the user all of the following will not start: \Assets\Kuju\RailSimulator\RailVehicles\Diesel\Class37\JT 37 LL 011\Engine\Class37_wp.xml

This specific version works fine for me. What is the version of the product sold on DTG?

 

No idea, but V1.08 dates from 2018.

So it's unlikely that even if this wasn't applied to the Steam offering it would break things, and forums would be full of posts about it if it did.

OK..we now know that 37011 in Large Logo livery is the loco in question.

Are you Trev's brother then?...that'd explain a lot.

 

Kilt, just try this...

drop into the loco and use the HUD to slam it straight into forward. I've tried it 3 times in succession and if you get it fast enough the game seems to miss the movement and doesn't trigger the AWS, hence the inability to take power. This is in the JT version by the way.

I get the same in 37035 and 37112 too, so it's reasonable to assume the rest will follow suit.

 

Xavier, if you're still with us...is that how you're putting the loco in to forward?

 

I have now tried all 8 scenarios and cannot replicate an issue. I have tried to 'slam' into FWD and it works every time for me.

Slowing the train whilst on the move. The topography is very undulating. Train is more responsive rather than using main brake going through the switchbacks

 

Do you mean engine brake?

 

I used the specific term in the manual. For me it is the [ and ] keys for the Class37. I will be the first to admit I am no expert in driving trains.

Read the AP Manual again - It says (2) Loco Brake Handle - it applies Air to the locos Brake Cylinders
Not normally used when driving a train as it has no effect on any of the train brakes.


The Hand Brake (32) is the Wheel on the opposite side of the cab to the driver which is used to secure the loco when it is parked and has no Air for the brakes.

 

#2 Loco Brake (handle). I find this useful when simulating the Class 37 to trim top speed when experiencing whip saw effect of driving over switchbacks. Using the main brake is too slow in these conditions and usually defines a speeding error during a scenario. I have found this keyboard control quite useful for UK heavy diesels.

 

I've often used the loco/engine brake with the class 66 to eliminate/greatly reduce the wagons "snatching" effect on downhill grades. It may not be prototypical but it works!

 

Kilt, can you post a screen shot of the front of one of your JT locos?
