A lot has certainly changed in my screenshot taking style and TSC build over the years. :)

BNSF Railway EMD SW1500s '3456' and '3464' in unique double header formation head east into the sidings of Columbia Falls, Montana in the United States of America with 15 empty lumber wagons. After dropping the empty wagons in the sidings the train quickly forms a new train of 15 loaded empty lumber wagons that are to be hauled west to Whitefish over a journey of roughly 10 miles. However before reaching Whitefish a further pickup of 3 more loaded lumber wagons is required at Stoltze Sawmill to allow for continuation towards Whitefish over the Hi-Line Suddivision section of the Northern Transcon during a wet and foggy early afternoon in the Autumn.

A trip on the latest version of Hagen Siegen (V4.1). Recreating the first scenario I played on the original route, Heavy Freight. A wonderful job by rail-sim.de member BR-218, as the old original Ruhr-Sieg route (first RS route after MSTS for GermanRailroads) is fairly unplayable and is wrong in almost all aspects.

Track is completely new, with nice easements and superelevation. Signalling also completely new. You can run an ICE here now. ;)

Where did you get Hagen-Siegen V4.1? It's not showing on Rail-sim.de.

Those trackside signs with the yellow numbers are old types of speed boards used in the steam era and early diesel era of the railways in the United Kingdom. For example in screenshot 1 it indicates 20 mph and in screenshot 3 it indicates 10 mph. :)

Deutsche Bahn Class 143 '143 267-3' hauling 4 coaches made up of 2 Bn coaches, 1 ABn coach and a BDnzrf Steuerwagen (Driving Trailer) coach on the rear makes up an evening passenger service headed west through rural Germany primarily traveling on the fictional Koeblitz-Wildau Railway. The train begins on the mainline at Altenburg railway station in Rhienland-Palatinate, Germany (not to be confused with real life Altenburg further east into Germany in the state of Thuringia) and after departing Altenburg heads west 8 kilometres for Koeblitz. Before reaching Koeblitz the train makes 2 passenger stops in between at Altenburg Bach and Niederkirch. After the passenger stop at Koeblitz the train travels a distance of 22 kilometres to Wildau stopping 6 times in between for passengers at Koeblitz West, Rudolf Bach, St. Rudolf, Marienwald, Marienbaum and Mariental. By the time of arrival at Wildau the sun had mostly set on the slightly wet Spring evening in 2001.

Being a fan of Caledonian Works steam locos, I took advantage of their ongoing (as of 28 Nov 2024) sale and acquired two new-to-me tanks. First up, the LBSCR class L, seen in an SR green livery:
Next, a BR Standard 4MT, this particular loco being one of the preserved 4MTs, seen in a rather fetching BR green:

My recent liason with Zawal's Small Slope route set in Northern New Hampshire, USA led me to France and another of Zawal's routes. This led me to remember a route set in the Massif Central - "Triangle du Cantal". This route (RailSim-fr.com) is mostly single track, very twisty and set in the 1960-1970 period with semaphores and steam facilities. The route has superb scenery and some great assets especially the bridges/viaducts. The SNCF used some quite old (1936 built) diesel units on this line and one of the types is shown in the following screenshots. They must have been hard on the driver having the engine right by his right elbow in the cab from noise all year round and heat in the summer viewpoints.

mindenjohn Cantal is great - be sure to also check out Chemin de Fer Corse.

Currently still addicted to the most detailed german route available, Harznetz2000. It keeps amazing me, the amount of detail is just crazy. And its unique visuals, whereas in TSW every route somehow looks the same. OldVern just have a look at what is possible in that "old" TSC. I know you'll come back again :)

Shortly after the Western Pacific Railroad's merger with the Union Pacific Railroad it is a Summer evening of 1983 and Union Pacific Railroad EMD SD40-2s '3153', '3136' and '3240' lead a train of 42 hopper wagons full of midwestern grain with a caboose on the rear operating the Tidewater Grain West service headed for Turlock, California in the United States of America in what was previously territory of the Western Pacific Railroad. The train is seen beginning from Keddie after a crew change and soon begins a 21 mile journey westbound to the sidings at Belden on the Canyon Subdivision of the Feather River Route to await a passing train before being able to continue south on the run to Turlock.

Spotted some smoke behind the trees and went there to find this. This route is on a level you'll not find in commercial DLC where time is money.

Work is taking place to reballast the entire deep water ocean terminal at Hunterston, Scotland in the United Kingdom on the Largs Branch and English, Welsh & Scottish Railway Class 66 '66005' of the EMD JT42CWR model hauls a train of 17 loaded JGA aggregate wagons heading northwards along the West Coast Main Line with materials required for the work currently taking place operating as service 6S76. The train begins at Carlisle, England in the late morning after having just come over the Tyne Valley and departs with a limited top speed of 60 mph due to load that the train is hauling behind it soon transitioning from England to Scotland. Due to the low speeds of this freight service the train pulls over at Beattock Sidings to allow following passenger trains to pull through after traveling nonstop for 39 miles and after departure from said sidings the train travels without issue towards Glasgow. Upon reaching the outskirts of Glasgow the train diverts from the West Coast Main Line at Law Junction as to not congest the main line and utilises the Wishaw Deviation Line to connect with the Shotts Line at Holytown Junction however the train isn't done with line switches yet diverging from Mossend East Junction to Mossend North Junction joining the Caledonian Main Line and travel through the railway yard at Mossend for a switch to the Rutherglen and Coatbridge Branch utilising Whifflet South Junction, Whifflet North Junction and Langloan Junction. The train finally rejoins the West Coast Main Line again at Rutherglen East Junction and comes to a stop after pulling into the railway yard at Polmadie during the afternoon after having traveled roughly 60 miles since the sidings at Beattock and 102 miles since departure from Carlisle during a rather bleak Autumnal day.

In 2016 the National Railways acquired all of Amtrak's Aem-7s and HHP-8 and remanufactured E60MA that were retired from service for use on the ECML and WCML as well as their excess Amfleet Is, Some retained their phase V liveries some were painted back to Phase IV and III so here's a shot of Aem-7 922 in Phase III Livery taking charge of the Flying Scotsman Service making its way to Edinburgh in October of 2024

Installment 7 in a chronological pictorial depiction of a stopping passenger service faux heritage rail-tour QuickDrive on AP's Wherry Lines - Norwich to Greater Yarmouth & Lowestoft, a somewhat recent purchase when these images were captured. To it is added AP's route enhancement pack. This is the most consistently visually appealing primarily rural route in my possession. So pleasing that I drove and captured images of four passenger runs in rapid succession. This series showcases the first of those runs, from Norwich to Lowestoft.

Motive power is Caledonia Works' "Single-Wheeler" GER P43 4-2-2 tendered steam loco, another recent acquisition when this run was driven, seen in its super-heated coal-burning variant. The train is, admittedly, not ideally suited for stopping passenger duty; the P43 primarily an express locomotive, the train overlong for the route's often small station/halt platforms. (Coach count is reduced for the remaining three runs.)

This installment sees us at Cantley and en route to Reedham

I love German secondary lines especially non electrified now where is the BR216 we need (Giessen was a big BR216 base right up to the end of the class) and a high quality BR211/212 as well. Could always pretend the border was a little further west than irl and use the DR V100s as BR110/112 and 114 plus the V180 or even the BR119 and BR130/132 just imagining.............
It is a great pity that despite being told that the BR86 steam loco is a DR version that DTG continue to market it as a DB engine when it clearly is not and no DB version is available.

    Wetteraunetz is absolutely amazing.

Though it was built under the (unintentional) premise of "I'm throwing all these custom (here: radiomaster\objekt\scenery\vegetation) assets into my Kuju folder and place them on the route, expecting you to have the same files" - which needs rework. I've done that. Bit of a mess, but solvable. The author also has copied assets from Freiburg-Basel to Koblenz-Trier instead of proper linking, which also results in a route only the author can see in full. I'll release a patch for it, also changing requirements from the old TTB-SAD2012 Köblitz (who has this?) to the available IKB3 (SAD2016).

Installment 16 in a seemingly endless multipart chronological depiction of a mid-autumn morning stopping passenger service faux Heritage Railtour QD, from London to Peterborough, on ECML London - Peterborough route. Motive power is Caledonia Works' GER T69 4-6-0 tendered steam loco, seen in LNER B12 Lined Black Livery. It hauls what QD terms the 1936 Queen of Scotland Coach Set. As such, I selected Queen of Scots for the loco's headboard. We travel the "slow" track, allowing stops at all stations en route.

This short installment sees us at Arlesey & Bigglesway. (As sometimes happens during this drive, none of my captures between stations are post-worthy.)

    No Pic: Descentus Interruptus
Been running a Kaiser Steel end-to-end on Soldier Summit but it crashed. There is an SD50 version if anyone fancies that.
I also noticed that while I had about 28 fps, it was stable 60 while paused, suggesting that calculating frame 2 while rendering frame 1 could improve TSC frame rate.

English, Welsh & Scottish Railway Class 66 '66002' of the EMD JT42CWR model begins light engine in the quickly degrading yard at Law Junction on the West Coast Main Line in Scotland of the United Kingdom and reverses up to 6 JGA wagons for transport 7 miles northwest to Mossend railway yard limited to a speed of 60 mph operating service 6S90. After departure the train quickly branches off the West Coast Main Line and utilises the Wishaw Line transferring to the Shotts Line at Holytown Junction before arriving into Mossend utilising Mossend East Junction and Mossend North Junction on a rather simple Summers afternoon freight run.

Trat 292 is a lovely route but stopped in the middle of nowhere at a passing station and needed to be extended to Lipova Lazne and even better to Jesenik.

    Hard to resist... :D
    Great shots!
A small clarification - 29 is the Line. It was (partially) electrified very recently (to Balatonfüred). Somewhat silly, but that's it.
The Desiro is not a success story, whether it's our subpar maintenance or lack of parts (or money). Curiously we purchased a lot of them from Greece and else, may have been a yellow flag. But our Talent 1 trains are worse, despite them being fineish with ÖBB.
Bonus points for not writing Plattensee :D

I've hardened my immune system bathing (more walking though) in Lake Balaton at age seven in 1982. It was a cesspool back then... :)

And now for something completely different....
I bought Forest Rail in the sale, quickly disposed of the silly story and had a good look at it. Its not a bad route, has some very challenging gradients, plenty of greenery and quite a bit of potential for restoring freight traffic (principally coal and logs/lumber). The track plan is a very twisty letter Y with the Y at the main station and yard. The westerly branch is the longest and is very twisty indeed it has a number of spirals, tunnels and viaducts aplenty. The easterly branch is 40miles (65km) and has easier grades. Using assets from the Maerdy branch I established a colliery at the Northerly end of the eastern branch (Rintenjo) and about half way along the Westerly branch where there is a coal yard but supposedly abandoned, well not any longer.
I also looked for suitable diesel locos and tried out Bernard Deschamps BB400 metre gauge and these do not look out of place on the Cape Gauge used in Japan so I repainted a few into fictitious JR class and livery. One can handle 15 empty NZ Midland line open coal wagons + brake up grade from Matsuhara to Rintenjo and 22 loads down grade. For the steeper (5% in places) westerly line I will have to reduce loadings (yet to be tested) or use the NZ type DA diesel from Diesel Workshop. Will report later. JR Class DD40 401 departs Rintenjo Colliery for Matsuhara Yard.jpg JR DD40 401 en route to Matsuhara Yard.jpg
